Studio Session - Starry Night Canes in Polymer Clay

- Studio sessions are wandering through polymer clay. I don't really have plans, I just start and see what happens.
In this session, I started with an old favorite of mine - Starry Night Canes. They turned into a double strand necklace of long, slender, tapering beads separated by disc beads covered with jellyroll canes.
I would recommend viewing the companion tutorial on making the Starry Night Canes, themselves.
Cheers, Donna

It's 2:30 am in southwestern US and there's nothing better than wandering the endless halls of polymer clay with Donna Kato in one of her studio sessions.
Thank you so so much Donna! I hope you realize what a gift you are giving to me and so many others- and for years to come! These videos are wonderful!
Love all your work and as soon as I have the time and I aim to make it soon, I am going to join your classes.
I've got about a dozen of these canes on my table that I made after your last video. I wanted something organic looking to finish a pendant I was making and this worked beautifully. Thank you Donna
Wow! Fabulous necklace, so original. Great tutorial, thank you x
Thank you!😊
Thank you Donna for sharing your genius! Love how you string your pieces. Really cool!
You are so welcome😊❤️
I love hanging out in your brain! The reversible black one and the brown one are stunning! That contrast is awesome!!!!
These videos are very important! Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I love them all.
Glad you like them!😊❤️
Thank you guys! If you follow me on fb, you can see the Starry Night trip is ongoing! ❤️
Thank you so much for sharing this as I have become engulfed in making these “Starry Night” canes❣️They are so fun to make in so many varieties of colors!! This is just what I needed so I can start using the canes in my creations. These beads are a great start!! I ended up buying several of your books because I love your designs and color choices. I am not looking to copy your work, I just find it inspiring for my own creative process. Plus I really like the way you construct your pieces, you sharing your knowledge and experience is so helpful, thank you!!!
I love, love, love it!!!!
I see Starry Nights in your future. I love those simple canes, truly! Hugs, D
Excellent tutorial . Mil gracias
You Re so welcome!❤️
Lovely stuff! Thanks for the Holiday Bonus :D
It’s amazing how this simple can can turn into such lovely jewelry. I saw the pins on your FB…can’t wait to watch that tutorial. Thank you!
Splendideeeee
Thanks Donna for answering. I poped the question before you explained why you can´t sell it. So no worrries, I totallly understand
I love your video 😊
Thank you, Franca!😊❤️
Beautiful beads. Thanks for sharing your techniques. Will you show us how to make the cane you are going to use for the clasp in a near future? I just love it
Well, so sad you can´t teach that cane. Thanks for showing all the other things. You are really generous
I really can’t. It’d be bad to sell it, then give it away, I think!
I have always loved your work. I can usually spot a piece you’ve done, a mile away. You are unique and your work is beautiful. You are a true artist.
Thank you so much, Kristi, I appreciate that! Hugs, D
Thank you. 💜🤗
You could try two elongated U shaped beads for the center of the piece. That would solve the problem of the bend of each strand.
That would take care of it…have to think of ways to integrate that shape into the overall design…!❤️
You don’t add any liquid clay? I thought you had to. This is very interesting.
I have to watch it again!!!😊❤️🧑🎄☮️🎉🎄🎁
So excited to get the alert of your tutorial! Thankyou for sharing your wealth of information. You are an AMAZING artist! LOVED the quick look at your Mud Cloth!! Is it a series also?
Hi Lynne, that’s actually a class we sell at Prairie Craft. It’s on Vimeo and comes with a huge handout (I send a link to give access, it’s so big, can’t send it via email). If you’re interested, here is the link: prairiecraft.com/kato/KCFS-29.html. Cheers, D
@@DonnaKatoArt Thankyou. I see your tutorial. Just to confirm, the cost is $51.00US.
Yes, that’s it. It was 80, I think but I reduced it to 51. That class comes with a huge handout that I share through Drive - can’t email it!
As always beautiful, wonderful colors and great explanation.
I would like to purchase your titorial of black and white cane. Where is it possible?
I couldn't find it. Thank you.
Hi Nana! Thank you so much! Here is the link:

I then send the class to you.
Cheers, Donna❤️
❤Love you. Thank you so much.🎉
This is beautiful. How long is the necklace? Perhaps a photo of the necklace on someone would be a good addition to your video so we can see how it hangs.
I will work on that!
Donna, I absolutely love the black and white swirl cane in this tutorial but I can’t find the class you mentioned. Can you please point me in the right direction so I can finally make it? Thanks so much! I’m also still trying to find the instructions for the black and white starry night cane. I’ve made the color ones, but I haven’t tackled that one yet. ~Lisa
Hi Lisa! That’s part of a pay class I sell. Here’s the link if you’re interested. Cheers, D

@@DonnaKatoArt THANK YOU! I ended up making the black and white Starry Night cane and made your necklace (or attempted to).
The link no longer works. 😢
Would you post the link to the black and white cane tutorial? I’d love to purchase it.
I tried your website but it seems to be down just now.
Hi Kathleen! Did I send the link? I don’t recall so here it is! py.pl/TFb3w

@@DonnaKatoArt thank you!! I don’t remember if you sent it yet so thanks for the link.
