@@PLATKT06 They don't had big excavators. They bought O&K which was boubght and bought before. There was 2 big excavators in Europe , Liebherr (made in France !) and O&K (Germany).
Okay, I've been a hoe operator for 5 years and I have a point/question I would like to raise. In the video you can see when he is loading the truck (0:28) he starts tipping (back track is raising slightly) Obviously he keeps his tracks pointing forward for digging. My point being I personally will turn my tracks diagonal in this position to keep digging power and increase reach. Most guys don't tend to do this, but I feel it is a valid technique and sometimes get ridiculed for it. What do you hoe operators out there think??
alexfluryfilms Thank you very much for this question. We'll ask our specialists in the Liebherr Mining Division in this case and get back at you as soon as possible - stay tuned!
Hello busilica123, excuse the delay - due to the holiday season it took us a bit longer this time ;) But here you go:There may be times when we want to shift the right track as we are loading backwards for additional stability. But we must always keep in mind the time we are going to spend moving a track. Because once we start moving tracks we need to add seconds to the loading time. Maybe just one or two seconds per cycle but this is time. In this video the R 9800 backhoe stick is short and therefore the reach to the bed of the haul truck must be controlled at all times. Also in bench development we must be thinking about the key cut and where each additional bucket of material is coming from. When we are loading with a backhoe cycle times are critical and we must always control this cycle time to be effective. Another point to think about when loading with the backhoe is machine stability. When the excavator is sitting on a very stable bench some little movement (rocking) may occur as you put the material on the truck bed - but nothing to excessive. If you have a track lifting off the bench as you deposit the material in the bed of the truck you should definitely change the position of the tracks or may even lighten the load in the bucket as you're loading. We don't want the excavator lifting a track in the air. This is a bad operating technique. In excavator operation everyday is a new day and operators must adjust their operating techniques to meet the conditions. So operating is not always black or white, there is the shade of gray. The very best operators always adjust to the loading conditions. Another point about a good loading position: As you are loading trucks you load your position out so it becomes a constant practice of developing good loading points or good loading conditions for your excavator and then follow through. We know that each excavator operator develops their own style of loading. But what we strive for are solid loading techniques, controlling cycle times, good bucket fill factors, no wasted movements which all lead to a safe effective high production loading process. Hopefully this sheds a little light on loading but there are many points to be taken into consideration during the loading process!
He wasn't tipping due to reach or excessive weight in bucket. He was rocking due to uneven ground. As a hoe operator you should be able to see that. Small machines you can waste a couple seconds moving tracks because you can make up in speed. Big machines you can't waste as much time due to slower speeds. You might move half the world when you swing but look at boom speed, stick speed, bucket curl and swing speed compared to a 30 ton through 50 ton. I currently run 80 ton mass X I run tracks the same way and if I fuck around it's just to throw material under tracks to stabilize it. Then you only have to track not turn track turn every time you move.
To cut a long story short, due to the high digging power it would be / could be more unstable by digging at 90 degrees to the tracks, this applies to any 360 excavator. Besides it doesnt look unstable at any point, unless its bolted rigidly to the ground there will always be some small movment, this doesnt mean its unstable. Are you sure your not driving hoes of the female type?
