For speaker connectors, I am planning to use Anderson Powerpole connectors. I am already using Red-Black powerpoles in horizontal configuration for low current (< 45A) DC connections, since they seem to be the standard for 12V connections in the amateur radio community, of which I am part. In horizontal configuration, powerpoles are hermaphroditic, any connector will mate with any other. My plan is to use powerpole in vertical configuration for speakers, which will prevent intermating with 12V power. In vertical configuration, they are not hermaphroditic, since mirroring flips left/right but not top/bottom. So a mating pair of vertical connectors has to have the contacts reversed on one side to mate with the non-reversed side. I will use Gray/Black for speakers for easy identification. Powerpoles are physically small enough to go in doors and behind trim panels, yet they are beefy enough for subs. And they can be put together in 2, 3, 4 or more pin configurations if you need a 4-pin connector to go to a coaxial for an active or external crossover. I am planning to put a 4-pin connector on my ham equipment rack with the top 2 pins red/black for standard 12 v power, but with 2 extra pins on the bottom for when the rack is in the car, blue (turn on) and some other color for a push-to-talk footswitch. Anderson makes connectors up to 350 amp rating, so you can find a disconnect for just about anything you might need in a car stereo system.

You don't NEED to use activator with your car glue, it just extremely speeds up full cure time.
