I've watched many cavs games this year as a cavs fan, you are so right about the wing spot. Dean Wade having that length at wing adds so much to the defense while he can play like a stereotypical 3 and d guy at 6'9. I read comments on the celtics subreddit with many upvotes laughing at how cavs fans thought these 'bums' being injured and out meant anything at all. There is just such a huge difference defensively btw Wade, or Okoro, or even Lavert, than starting Sam Merrill out there which they've had to do - especially against a stacked deep team like the Celtics. Not even talking about Strus yet, who hasn't played this year, and every other player has had visible dramatic improvements to their game I'm hype that he could look like the guy we expected when he was signed instead of the brick machine he was last playoffs. There are valid criticisms that they have an easier schedule, but the east is just down bad this year. Cavs are clearly at least the 2nd best team there, people just want to diminish them because they don't want to see a new team and fanbase happy, they want to feel like their team is doing better. Good teams lose to 'worse' teams all the time, it's hyper analyzed with the cavs because they want them to fail. I feel they are just at least competitive with any team in the league and who knows how that will go in the playoffs.

I mean I think for the most part they’ve gotten a fair shake from the media. Boston is the champ, they’re the ones to knock off. And just as a pure matter of fact, wing is where we are weakest. Our top guys are two bigs and two point guards. I don’t think many is saying it will be impossible to beat a team like Boston that is full of great wings, but it will be a serious challenge.
I’m a diehard fan, and the expectation for this season is we make it to the ECFs and then we should be championship contenders for the following 5 or so years. I completely trust the Cavs management at this point
they got playoff experience the last 3 seasons... the defense is lacking from being top 5 but the offense is now top 2, so the defense doesn't have to win games most of the times... Their time to contend is now... Every team has a weakness, even Boston... What's the Cavs weakness, perimeter defense...🤔🤔🤔 Even with the #1 defense, a hot shooting team on that defense happens... The Cavs be getting out rebounded & the perimeter defense gives up points... They still be putting up more shots than their opponents... That's what Atkinson brought with his offensive system... Faster pace equals more shots put up... Even on bad shooting nights, they put up enough points to where they can iso score or pick & roll with the bigs... The Cavs are title contenders, this year & until Mitchell is gone...💯💯💯
SF Luke Travers the truth! Elite defender 2 way point forward gritty overall skill, jack of all trades @ 6’8” … why Kenny held him back from games he was needed and perfect for, to try and win is a bit odd. NBL & summer&G league tested winning player. Probably wanna buy low and get maximum value. I think he’s consistently giving better games with two way impact than our current SF rotation, and with how Levert & Wade have played + Okoro that’s saying alot. The more Mobley shoots 3 the more Travers makes sense, as his shooting ceiling is unknown, the floor seems league average better starting point than Okoro. Where a 6’9” Emoni Bates flamethrower makes a lot sense off the bench in the future. Keeping Okoro I hope for the cores entirety as well. Solid top 7 in a year or two
In the case of Luke Travers, I completely agree. My best guess is they're trying to transition him from international basketball on to American basketball.
I’m a diehard Cavs fan and they shouldn’t be ranked #1. Experience is crucial to winning championships and the Celtics have a ton of it. This is still a very young team and while we should make the ECFs, I also would not rank them ahead of the Celtics. You can’t suddenly give 23 year olds championship experience - it has to happen over a couple seasons.
Get your point about the wings but it’s like a tier thing and I love dean wade as much as the next guy but we are talking about jaylen brown and even Derrick white is a few tiers and a tier above dean wade with all due respect. But Dean wade is definitely underrated but let’s not overate his play either. Also our team isn’t proven and until we make a serious push in the playoffs nobody will take the Cavs seriously as silly and unfair as it sounds being the best team in the nba or at least the best record in the league. Look at the pacers the league overrated Halliburton and the entire pacer roaster because they went to the eastern conference finals and I never thought the pacers were a better team than the magic. But until you do something you’ll just not be taken seriously.
@spencerpremier if the Cavs had to play the playoffs through the Western bracket they wouldn't get out of the first round. It's still early in the season. Stay on earth.
The problem is the starting PG 5'11 SG 6'1" SF 6'5" heights make it so hard to defend 3pt shooting of Boston and other teams im not counting on Wade who has never stayed healthy its why hes better as a bench player and under 20 mins and the regular season means very little the post season is what this team has to prove

A lot of teams have won championships it this argument doesn't make much sense. All of those teams besides the celtics are very different now.
