Just saw your reply and watched this.
This unfiltered 5.1ch surround sound is pure bliss! The AX43A is a fitting upgrade to my SONY DCR DVD 808E, which I used for train spotting until a few years back when the CX405 took over. The sound is quite balanced (unlike a tad louder with mild distortion, as in your previous upload), maybe because the 5.1ch mic naturally captures sound without downmixing it into two channels, as in XAVC S.
Another takeaway is the much better slow-shutter recording in daylight, unlike the CX405, which produces blurry and washed-out footage (even at the highest possible quality) when set to a shutter speed below the 1/215 mark.
    Many thanks for your effort!

I just received mine a few hours ago. I notice it shows it's in 2 channel audio while under 4k video recording. Does it not allow 5.1 and 4k at the same time? My 4k Panasonic HC-VX870 doesn't do 5.1 while recording in 4k either. I was hoping I would get 5.1 and 4k on this Sony.

@@45eno Unfortunately, the AX43A serves 5.1ch only in the AVCHD mode. The 4K (XAVC S mode) is just fit for the inferior 2ch and compels me to wait until SONY releases a revision (or a new series) that addresses this bizarre phenomenon.
