In around 2003 (?) an English version of this series was available. It was called "A Royal Family: Christian IX, the Father-in-Law of Europe and His Descendants," if I remember correctly. In seven parts, it was superb, encompassing the story of the past 150 years of European royalty. At the time, I saw it on SBS, an Australian channel. I awaited each episode with great anticipation because the story of this family, far older than the British, is so much more interesting, in the past and the present! Queen Margarethe is such a fascinating woman (which makes for a fascinating queen). She is not only a full-time queen and representative of her nation, she is also a mother, grandmother. She is also an accomplished artist, illustrator and set designer. I think she also designs her own clothes! Elizabeth is a stolid monarch but Margarethe is vigorous, a fluid, spritely colourful and graceful, sometimes dramatic, personality. One can see her kindness and engagement with life. The Crown Prince Frederich is so much like her, a practical "action man", down to earth and driven by his passions for life, a romantic prince not afraid of life and who one is sure can dress himself.
Denmark is a great European Country. Europe would be just impossible to be understood without the North, and the Star of the North is Denmark. Congrats dear Danish friends for the way you organize your society, life and family. And Danish Royal Family is just brilliant and amazing (Royal Family of Romania is related to your Royals). Your country has glorious story and a lot of young people from my country already went to study there. All of them came back fully in loved by Danish culture. Greetings from Romania to Dans and all Danish culture fans!
Ruby La Tricoteur well you need a region-free player as it is from australia. however, you can buy one relatively cheaply, and many royal documentaries from europe are regions other than US. anyway, type in "the kingdom behind the scenes DVD" in an internet search (that is its name in english) and you should find a link from SBS.
Pleaseee Subtitles!!! Anytime i want to see a documentary of Danish/swedish royal familiy i cant...and ...i speak 3 languages but not swedish or danish yet! :(
I purchased the DVD from Dymocks Online websiteand it's called The Danish Royal Collection.(by the way you get another DVD which is the royal jewels) I'm sure you saw that somwhere on youtube :)
A lot of people are requesting subtitles... This isn't the first time I've wished youtube had an option for fan created subtitles. I would translate for everybody if it was an option :(
+ThePigeonBrain I checked my options at this video and it is possible to add captions by fans in the form of a file or immediately during a movie. So if you want to help please contact me in private message :)
The Royal Family obviously contributes in a positive way to Danish economic and cultural wealth, but they always have to be explicitly subservient to democratic power, any deviation from this societal contract greatly undermines their democratic legitimacy. This is why is extremely worrisome when the Crown Prince Frederik as a member of the International Olympic Committee voted, contrary to the decision by the Danish Parliament, not to ban Russia from the Rio Game. As a member of the Royal Family he is prohibited from having political affiliation and as such should always act in harmony with the parliamentary majority. What is just a worrisome is the fact that there will be no repercussions from the Danish government. This greatly undermines the status of Danish democracy as being one of (if not THE) least corrupt in the world and this isn't the first time the future King of Denmark shows a disregard for the societal contract.

Prince Frederik & Prince Joachim are strikingly handsome men, but don't look anything alike. Hard to believe they are brothers.
