Hey guys, we're actually a volunteer choir and we do perform with music most of the time, but this particular performance was our ACDA program which had to be done from memory. Thanks!

I do not see why anyone should be surprised because of memorization. When I was a member of a professional boys choir, our concert programs were memorized from top to bottom. That is what professionals do!

The members of the Sweet Adelines and SPEBSQSA (Society for Preservation and Enjoyment of Barbership Quartet Singing of America) memorize all their music and choreography. The membership is primarily amateurs, many of whom don't read music.

Yes, but keep in mind these types of choirs only rehearse once a week for about 3 hours. Many university choirs rehearse every day.

It's so weird seeing professional choirs memorize...

The CWU Chamber Choir's conductor doesn't use a score which is impressive. The choir is made up of students and not professionals and they sing from memory which may be typical though I don't know. The ability to memorize anything like this boggles my mind but I'm not a musician just someone who appreciates music.
