Why did you call the brand name as if it were an acronym? It's not P.Y.L.E. It's just plain Pyle.... An example of the pronunciation would be: "It's a Pyle of sh*t" because, well... it's exactly that.
Nice unit but very disappointed with the quality of the unit buttons very hard to press lasted me about a month after recording some cassette tapes. Started playing my music slow and fast ate a few of my cassettes. Got a full refund. Upgraded to a better player. Good thing pyle refunds you and puts warranty on their products and the only company that sells and still make cassette players. Hopefully my next one works and last a little bit longer.
Are you sure that isn't because your receiver sucks? Maybe the tape is aged to the point of being garbage? Tape players have ALWAYS been junk. I have gone through so many in 40 years. I wouldn't give any of them more than two stars.
