CST : 60% neurons originate from motor area (30% neurons from primary motor area aka precentral gyrus or area no. 4 & 30% from premotor area or area no 8 and supplementary motor area) 40% neurons arise from somatosensory area or postcentral gyrus) All the sensory ascending tracts end in the post central gyrus or somatosensory area/cortex. LCST acts directly on spinal nerve (without interneuron) and supply distal muscles which are responsible for skilled/fine movements... ACST neurons act via interneurons on spinal nerves to control the proximal muscles responsible for postural movements.
