Well SIR, first of all I ENVY your long fingers..as a 5 string picker for about 50 years now, not only Bluegrass, I sure could use that extra stretch ! As with many a Kingston Trio child I got a tenor guitar as well, playing it in open G. Snagged a 1961 Gretsch Duo - Jet TENOR from Mandolin Brothers years ago...they offered me DOUBLE price to buy it back a year later...but no sale. It has a "palm vibrator" (not a dirty thing..tee hee) that has a brass piece, riveted to the tailpiece that "bends" the notes as you push it. Do not know if you are aware of Soares'y guitars, Mike Soares of Long Island build them, a variety of tenors and some 8 string ones, double courses, resonator type. Acoustic with a lipstick mic. I have a 4 and 8 string from him.He has family in Portugal with a guitar factory. They send him the finished bodies and he adds the hardware. This makes them affordable. The 4 string came with a BLUE resonator cone...for some reason ? I also found a Gibson LG-3, custom built as an 8 string, double courses by Gibson, in the 60's on E bay a while back. Maybe for some mandola player ? I use light 12 string strings, with the octave ones and it rings ! Once again, thanx..you play smoothly. Jim Clark
