If you would shorten the supports to hold the set in for storage and cut a hand hold into the back rest, you could have a handle to carry it.
I like the ideas on the modifications.
I like that you go into extreme detail on your builds. I have PTSD and it affects how I understand things. Great work. I'm a subscriber.
I'm glad that it helps and I really appreciate the support.
I enjoy both sizes of speed squares.
I really liked your solution to bundling the pieces together.
Thanks !
Thank you. I really appreciate the support.
The dimensional lumber (where 2" = 1/12") comes from the idea of rough sawn versus surfaced lumber. The idea is if you take an 8/4 rough sawn board and mill it down, the end result will be 1 1/2 inches. Reality is you can squeeze out more than that, but that is the concept.
I appreciate the explanation.
You’re correct , they are not Viking , lol , 😂 love it though brother. I’d love to have one ! Might just have to make one ! Love that the seat storage is in this one !
I would love to see a bearded viking take on it! I suppose we can call it a viking chair at that point.
@@cedarriverwoodworking lol 😂 indeed brother . Great job on it man , I really like that design , it’d be great around the fire pit for sure. 👍
Oops the bearded viking is here. Don't tell him I've been watching another channel 😉 ha Skäl brother
Daniel I Just dropped a video that has an adaptation that allows for adjustable back angles For star gazing If you make the Bearded Viking Chair you should add that option in. Great video Thanks Cedar!!
@@cedarriverwoodworking Daniel I
I love the vertical alignment better.. thanks for a simple fun project!
Glad you like it! I appreciate the support.
Making one !!!! Thanks! Stargazer
Good luck with your build. You'll have to let me know how it turns out.
I really liked the storage solution.
I'm glad you like it. I appreciate the support.
To make the chair even in a more upright position screw a blok of wood with a hinge at the end of the board. Fold it in/under to get a more upright position. Since it can fold out as well it will allow you to slide the board in and out.
That's a decent idea, but if you get to far forward you will tip over.
@@cedarriverwoodworking
I have never experienced that. Use the same thickness as the rest of the chair. It will only raise the chair 2 inches on the back. Just enough to have a more upright position.
Both.. Cool Design
Thanks! I really appreciate the support.
That 2x12 was ruff cut at 2x12, and by the time it was dried, planed and the edges straightened, 1 3/4" x 11 1/2" is all that was left. I do have a 12" speed square and a bunch of the 6" ones, which I use way more often.
Thanks for the explanation. I use smaller squares a lot more also.
Probably a little more leaned back. I would use it by the campfire. I like the way you made it fit together to carry. That’s pretty awesome.
I appreciate the support.
I Like the idea you incorporated to keep it all together I am gonna incorporate something similar on my next Chair Build. I just finished a live edge oak version came out pretty good
These would look great as live edge. I'm lad you enjoyed the video.
Good job and project thx for sharing enjoyed it Keep building
I really appreciate the support.
You should have made a chair with the shorter support board so we can see the difference in how they differ in sitting position.
I will try yo keep that in mind next time I make something like this.
Good project 🤠
Gonna build one
Thank you. You'll have to let me know how the build turns out.
Soccer? Thats football right? ⚽️🏴😁😁 great build. Definitely the storage makes it stick out from the rest ✌️👍
Ope sorry is my American showing again? HAHA. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
great instruction
Thank you.
I logged on after a long day to innocently watch Andy work his wood, next thing I know he’s mutilating a dead tree carcass. SICK!!!!
Joking aside, really cool build
I'll try to massage my wood next time!
I appreciate the support.
Very well explained. Love the storage idea. Just wondering what type of wood you used.
I appreciate that. This is made out of a southern yellow pine 2x12
Both.
They do both have their places. Thank you for the support.
I bought a chair in Zimbabwe that’s essentially the same, except it’s decorated with carvings.
They look great with carvings.
I've tried the speed square trick to try and help with the jigsaw. Blasted thing really pushes to the left. When I tried clamping the square the saw just jumped over. I do happen to have the cheapest saw I could find in a store, do you think that is the main culprit?
It could be. If the blade isn't aligned to the edge it could be a problem. Maybe the blade support isn't good either.
I love it! I emailed you a couple pictures of the one I made awhile back
I got them. It looks great!
@@cedarriverwoodworking thank you!!!
It was a 2x12vbefore it was milled down to a 1 1/2 x 11 1/4
I appreciate the explanation.
I prefer to have both size squares available to me. Never know!!
I have seen them that way too and it's a great option.
12” speed square every time. Love this chair. Thanks again 👍
I really need a 12” speed square but make do with a 6”. But my most used square is the 4 1/2”.
I have a a delve square and I love that thing.
@@cedarriverwoodworking if I were to ever spend the money for a woodpeckers product, it’s be that small delve square. I use my little one for squaring blades and fences, so I can actually justify it lol.
@@Griffinwoodworks I won it in a raffle, so fortunately I didn't spend a ton on it, they do make some very accurate tools.
I only have one so off to the store I go to get the other
Sounds like you are making more than 1. Always a good time to share with someone.
The wood is 2x4 before drying
Or 2x12…
That's a lot of shrinkage
both
They do both have their place. I appreciate the support.
6” speed square
Only for storage ability
I can respect that.
👏👏👏👏🔥
Thank you.
Why 2x material?
It's easy to source and this is meant as a beginner's channel.
Nice work very simple but I noticed you have an industrial size bag of viagara against the wall. LOL just messing with you😂
What can I say? I gotta keep up with my fiancé!
@@cedarriverwoodworking the way that green bag is folded it looks like it says viagara
That's a good idea I would put a piece of nylon strap to the back so you could carry it better or side of it 😊
I like that. I have two built and was thinking about leather handles after I stained them.
I’m more of a Scenic Mountain View Person lol
I would love to sit out and admire nature in one of these chairs.
I like the lean but my wife is a more straight up person.
Sounds like you may need to make one of each!
12 inch bigger is better 😂
My wife always tells me "inches matter".
