What about digital interviews? I'm good with normal interviews. However, digital interviews are more difficult. Especially if you only get 1 time to record and it's timed.
Here is what 100% works; talk to them as if you already gave the job and you’re just colleagues People hire who is going to be a good colleague. No one wants a nervous wreck on their team
I simply CANNOT get enough of your videos. On top of them being incredibly interesting, the advice you give out is so useful at the right time!!! Thank you. 😍😇👍
I don't have experience with interviews but I've good feeling about my first ever interview. And yes you always do good when you look good, because that'll be one less thing to worry about in the room. Etiquettes make day-to-day life easier and help you with your impression on others, no surprise it helps in important career matters too. You know I'm gonna binge watch your channel day before my interview 😂
Recently had an interview for my dream job. I didn’t think the interview went well I was very awkward and now I’m here hired!!!! Thanks for all the advice Erin 😊.
Yes!! Reframing interviews as conversations that I'm having about a job I'm qualified to do has helped so much. I got my dream job with only some of the required experience because my mindset let me relax and really talk with my interviewer (who wound up being my boss!). My demeanor made me seem down to earth, approachable, and teachable, which landed me my dream job!!
Thank you Erin for all of your videos. I had a job interview for a new (not super fancy but needed a change) job and I followed a lot of your tips. :D I had my answers prepared for the tough questions (which they asked all of them D:) and I even had some of my own questions prepared. This was the first interview I absoultely nailed and knew it. :D I got offered the job less than 24 hours later. Thank you for all you do!
I was honest in my interview. and I felt that they understood I was being honest. It was the three people. The top three of an architecture firm. I told them I basically wanted to learn ad have several abilities to show them and provide for the company. And got hired :)
Hey Erin! I was wondering if you could make a video explaining the important terms used regularly in "professional" World for us beginners who have no clue about it. It'd be helpful if they're something you should understand for your first contract/interview discussion. Thank you ❤.
Not much. Just use proper grammatical speech and technical terms with a bit of "key words" (innovative, creative, excellent, skills, competent...) . Professional people sounds like your average dude, they are just polite and vulgarize jargon.
The Look Good is so important! Wear clothes that you look good in AND you are comfortable wearing. If you feel uncomfortable in your clothes, you are going to look uncomfortable
"They love you, and are looking for reasons to hire you" Damn, I wish that were true. Been out of work for nearly a year and at my last interview they turned me down because they thought I "wouldn't feel fulfilled" in the position.
Just if you know your job, what you did in your last jobs, you know your experience, you don’t need any “hack” for being confident. Being nervous never means that you are not confident. Even when you are nervous, if you know your job, experience, the job you will be handling, the interviewer will hire you. I have seen partners of big 4 being nervously presenting themselves in meetings, seminars but they are always knowledgeable and well versed with their craft.
This sounds sooo simple. And it is. Not only in an interview situation but when building work relationships afterwards. When a boss wants to find someone for a new position, who is first in their mind.
Love your content as per usual! Only caveat I’d say is when I hire people I DEFINITELY look for reasons to reject people. We can train people for certain skills, but red flags cost us wayyyyyy too much money and headache. I’d rather avoid it, especially with such a small company.
maybe a better way of wording it is "you keep an eye out for red flags, but as long as none come up, you're good"? like i totally understand that you need to keep an eye out for potential issues. however, an interviewer isn't prying to TRY and make you trip up and look bad on purpose! they want you to be a good candidate as well.
What do you do if you find out during the job interview that the application and company job description had differences than the interviewer said. This has happened to me 2x. For example, when I was in an interview for a remote security customer service job, I assumed it was for home security like in the job description on my application. However, in the interview the interviewer said that I was mistaken and that the security had changed to company security instead of home security a few days before the interview. What do you suggest to do when the interviewer changes the job description at the last minute. 😂
This one really helped me in my interview last week! Especially the point about inflection. They are checking my references this week - keep your fingers crossed for me!
The job I am at now, when I went in for an interview I said hello, shook hands l, sat down, then the VP of the company sits down and cracks open a monster in the most casual way ever and it freaked me out... lol I got the job
Love these advice videos! Im well practiced at interviews however im always willing to learn more. I only plan on doing one more interview in my life and im done.
My favorite trick: when we're nervous, we tend to subconsciously talk faster. So in professional settings, you can talk way slower than you think is normal. It both makes you look more confident AND give you more time to think up answers.
omg Erin I literally have an interview tomorrow and IM FREAKED because I need to talk to them about a project I did like years ago and I'm worried I'm going to come off as incompetent but it's mostly just that it's been a while and I know positively that I can bring my skills to the table if hired. oof. anyway. i needed to vent. thanks for the videos! they've been keeping the morale up for me these days! ❤
Erin, I am in the final process of immigrating in Canada, after being on a closed work permit for almost three years and underpaid in a competitive job field, it took me a whole year to find this job after I finished school, probably because I didn't know how to act in interviews and your videos truly help me get confident and encouraged me boosting my portfolio and resume. 2024 is gonna be a life changing year, for sure ✨
i have an interview for a job tomorrow that starts at $20k higher than my current salary, and i’m binging your videos. i always knew they’d come in handy. i love you Erin!!!
This is great. I'd be concerned about vocal fry with the downward inflection, but that's better than an upward infection. If you have a high-pitched voice _really_ lean to this because anti-feminine bias in a professional setting (that everyone has a little bit of) makes it so people will hear more uncertainty in your voice by default.
I was waiting for that tap at the camera. Its so personal, its like you're talking to me personally and it feels so nice❤❤ Ps: I love the way you talk, so soothing. I'm glad I found a big sister in you ♡
Arrive a little early. Helps with nervousness. Look interested in the job and think of the interviewer as the second step or third step to beginning this new job. Be respectful. State your preferences keeping in mind what the company needs from you in this role. Stay alert for unspoken needs as well (read between the lines). Meet them there, professionally.
I tell people the same thing. When I'm looking at a resume, I'm looking for a reason to say no. When I'm interviewing you, I'm looking for a reason to say yes.
I have an interview on Wednesday… like the day after tomorrow and its will be (or not😅) my first job. And you know, in one hand its nothing special, just a store assistant vacancy, but in another hand i’m not a native speaker and my English is reeeeeally sucks. I’m just can’t stop thinking that they will reject me because of my language skills😵💫
I don't believe that whole they already love you part, I've had interviews where every round is with completely different people, and most of them are super uninterested because they're (probably) being told to do the interview
This…this right here. Even without the “every round is with someone else” this is not true most of the time these days. They’re creating job scarcity on purpose, and employer ghosting and posting for a job without any intention of hiring is even worse than ever.
I'm retired and live in Europe where things are probably a bit different round the edges but think this series of shorts is such a good idea. In Europe as well it might not be a good idea to use verbal fry. Some find it odd and even irritating.
Erin, your content has helped me sell myself - but I don't always have the confidence inside as I work. What's your advice for building confidence and truly believing the value you're giving to your company?
if you got an interview, they already know you're qualified for the job and have what they're looking for, they just want to screen you for a personality fit within the company culture & team, so be pleasant and likeable
Once I was asked by my interviewer, "Now for the one million dollar question. Why should we hire you?" I was good at saying something quickly and I got hired. It was 2 interviewers interviewing me at the same time. I think the other one said, "Because we have 2 other people interviewing". It turned out that they ended up hiring the 3 of us.
Man, charming! I do have a question, I have been trying to fill out a timeline in my future, however I don't have anything to fill the space. Is there a way you can provide me with clarity or an answer so I have an idea to say to my next employer?
Love your videos! I have an idea for you, feel free to ignore: would you consider collaborating with creators from other countries who discuss similar tips? This would be cool for your viewers outside of the US, like me! Of course some tips carry over no matter where, but it would be cool to see the differences and where the advice might even contradict the advice you’d give in the US.
Can you give some tips about eye contacts? I have disorders and it's hard for me to maintain too much eye contact. Not that much of problem, I am confident most of the times, but sometimes it's just so hard
Is it a bad look to bring in a notebook? I like to record things and helps me keep my questions in order but if it gives off the wrong impression I don’t want to.
If you’re new here, hi friend!! ❤
How do I quit a job where they love me but I dread going in to work? I have another part time job that can be full time so that's not an issue
Hi! :) thank u for helping me in my interviews!
Hi.
What about digital interviews? I'm good with normal interviews. However, digital interviews are more difficult. Especially if you only get 1 time to record and it's timed.
Make a video on downward deflection
🚫"I think I'm the go-to person for the department"
✅️"I am the go-to person for the department"
Well...that's what I'm talkin' about! There ya go! 👍
All of this stuff is great. As a hiring manager all of these things are true
The first tip is actually so helpful sometimes it’s hard to remember they picked you to interview
Here is what 100% works; talk to them as if you already gave the job and you’re just colleagues
People hire who is going to be a good colleague. No one wants a nervous wreck on their team
I simply CANNOT get enough of your videos. On top of them being incredibly interesting, the advice you give out is so useful at the right time!!! Thank you. 😍😇👍

I have an interview in two days and watching your videos takes away so much of the anxiety I have built up!! ❤️🫶 Thanks Erin!!
that inflection tip is gold!
When I go into a job interview, I think to myself, "I'm the solution to all your problems."
The Look Good is so important! Wear clothes that you look good in AND you are comfortable wearing. If you feel uncomfortable in your clothes, you are going to look uncomfortable
"They love you, and are looking for reasons to hire you"
Damn, I wish that were true. Been out of work for nearly a year and at my last interview they turned me down because they thought I "wouldn't feel fulfilled" in the position.
Thanks Erin! Needed this right now.
God, I wish there was an erin for the entertainment industry
Love your tips! Thanks a lot ❤❤❤

Erin Spits them facts 💯

Very legit advice. Thank you!
love these! thank you for all these tips

Hehehe the way she checked me out when she said look gooooood 🤭🙈
I needed this. Thank you, Erin ❤
Been binge watching your content it’s all so useful haha!
Prepare specific examples based on the job requirements!! Also be confident in a concise response, don't ramble!
I want rhis on repeat, to play in the car on the way to my next interview
You are a gem !
I am always so damn anxious in interviews...I am currently preparing for the next one with your videos. Thank you ❤️
Confidence since one of my biggest struggles in terms of job interviews
What do you do if you find out during the job interview that the application and company job description had differences than the interviewer said. This has happened to me 2x. For example, when I was in an interview for a remote security customer service job, I assumed it was for home security like in the job description on my application. Don't except the job
This is helpful I got an interview at a company that pays me significantly more than my current job. Needed this as an introvert.
“Use downward inflection” me, with a partially kiwi accent 😬
This one really helped me in my interview last week! Especially the point about inflection. They are checking my references this week - keep your fingers crossed for me!
THANK YOU, ERIN 🤝❣️
The job I am at now, when I went in for an interview I said hello, shook hands l, sat down, then the VP of the company sits down and cracks open a monster in the most casual way ever and it freaked me out... lol I got the job
You're one in a million.
Me who took a shot before my interview and I got it 😻
I subscribe to these tips. Well done. 🥇🏅🏆
"That's not girl math. That's straight fact." I love you 😭❤️❤️
I'm using this advice for my oral exams
Love these advice videos! Im well practiced at interviews however im always willing to learn more. I only plan on doing one more interview in my life and im done.
"number two: look good"
"ah, I'm fucked!"
My favorite trick: when we're nervous, we tend to subconsciously talk faster. So in professional settings, you can talk way slower than you think is normal. It both makes you look more confident AND give you more time to think up answers.
Thank you!
Look good is always a drawback for me. I am not an attractive person and I often face discrimination for my looks 😢
omg Erin I literally have an interview tomorrow and IM FREAKED because I need to talk to them about a project I did like years ago and I'm worried I'm going to come off as incompetent but it's mostly just that it's been a while and I know positively that I can bring my skills to the table if hired. oof. anyway. i needed to vent. thanks for the videos! they've been keeping the morale up for me these days! ❤

I love your content!!
Also, remember to interview them too. Ask about the team, whether you'd fit in & if you are what they hoped for.
So thats why i feel bad all day. Im not depressed im just ugly af!
This helped me so much on my last job interview! Wish me luck that I get it! Love your content ❤
How does she allways know the right words to say and me I’m trying to say something smart but says something dumb 😭
I was waiting for that tap at the camera. Its so personal, its like you're talking to me personally and it feels so nice❤❤
Ps: I love the way you talk, so soothing.
I'm glad I found a big sister in you ♡
Good point. They’re not looking for reasons not to hire you
THANKS A LOT!!

Cannot emphasize enough on the fact that companies LOVE when you have questions prepared. At least the good ones do.
"look goooooood😏"

I think my body thinks downward infliction is an enemy. I am so nervous and unsure at all time that even a statement can sounded like a question.
I'm retired and live in Europe where things are probably a bit different round the edges but think this series of shorts is such a good idea.
In Europe as well it might not be a good idea to use verbal fry. Some find it odd and even irritating.
I don't look good....
Guess not looking good won't affect my job anyways. But it took me forever to get it
You're like the Elle Woods of corporate.
Being delulu is the solulu...✨👑 corporate version
"use a downward inflection"
laughs in Australian accent.
Girl maths is straight facts
During interview video call, my headset makes me nervous.
I’m not having problems with confidence, I’m having problems not say “I need a new job thats why I’m here…”
Erin, your content has helped me sell myself - but I don't always have the confidence inside as I work.
What's your advice for building confidence and truly believing the value you're giving to your company?
"They are looking for reasons to hire you, not reasons to reject you" !!!!!!!!! 👀👀👀👀👀 omg what ? 😂😂😂
My negative brain cannot comprehend that
if you got an interview, they already know you're qualified for the job and have what they're looking for, they just want to screen you for a personality fit within the company culture & team, so be pleasant and likeable
look fab feel fab

You re The best 😊
Thank you😅🙏🙏
I used downward inflection at my last interview, they said I was too depressed for the job. 😔
Ahhhhhhhhh the biggest challenge is being interviewed in my 3rd language, Japanese, which I've only been speaking for 5 years now. ☠
Man, charming! I do have a question, I have been trying to fill out a timeline in my future, however I don't have anything to fill the space. Is there a way you can provide me with clarity or an answer so I have an idea to say to my next employer?
Thanks big sis
......merci.....

YES! I would love to do that!
I hope people dress up for interviews. first impressions
Can you give some tips about eye contacts? I have disorders and it's hard for me to maintain too much eye contact. Not that much of problem, I am confident most of the times, but sometimes it's just so hard
How to not sound “over-confident”? I’ve recently been called cocky from my last presentation/interview.
Damnn! That looks so hard. What if i open my own company and try to hire peopl?😢❤
Is it a bad look to bring in a notebook? I like to record things and helps me keep my questions in order but if it gives off the wrong impression I don’t want to.
But I’m Australian and upward inflections are part of my accent
You look god
