The powerhouse that is Mel Gaynor comes to the fore here. This performance is another example of why this brilliant band can be considered the best live band out there!
Like many have said, I was 18 too, we got really near the front and from Waterfront onwards I just remember bouncing up and down with my hands on the shoulders of whoever was in front and the person behind me with their hands on my shoulders. Like anyone of my age, I’ve seen countless bands in many arenas and stadiums but this gig, my first ‘stadium size’ one, was head and shoulders (you see what I’ve done there😂) above them all and always will be. I can only assume the bowl is no longer a venue because stadiums bring in more money where they can charge loads more to sit in a seat🤷🏽♀️
@dangus164 they didnt have sync track midi in 1981, listen to the sequence..... this was from 2009...listen carefully and you will hear the whole song go out of sync towards the end... i used to do some production with them.
dangus..sorry mate, this is from Padova...Simple Minds dont tweak their music playin live...they dont have to...bet your a u2 fan?? now you are talking bout bands that tweak their music when selling it.... see ya !!
I was listening to some of the Hampton Court live stuff and the guitar was awful. Listen to Ghostdancing, it sounds like someone who has been playing the guitar for about a week.
IMO Not a very strong rendition of the original song. Especially the keys and vocals are way too different in comparison with the live version on the b-side of the “Sweat in Bullet” 12”.
Sound scapes they can only dream of now with modern technology, not the same ! Beautiful melodies!

Would love to hear this song live at one of their shows. A classic.
The soundscapes and mixing on Book of Brilliant Things have always mesmerized me and hearing it as an instrumental highlights its brilliance
0:01till 0:40 the magic touch of Charlie.....such an underrated guitarist!
Briljant
AWESOME..Just one moment in Time..A Gloriously Long,Long Time..Heres to next 30!!!
Glad you've put this back on, John!
this song is 29 years old ... fantastic last year's version
ez a dal 29 éves ... fantasztikus a tavalyi verzió
@1982NGD Agreed! And good to see this back in the live set after nearly ** 30 years ** !!!
This reminds of Trent valley....

3:13 oopss… a lil misunderstanding between guitar and keyboard 😉😅🥰

🙄🤦🏻♂️
very good. singing is a bit weak though.
Another classic ruined by doing a souped up pompous live version.
Too bad.
