As a young millennial at the tale end of my 20s, I really appreciate hearing both perspectives. I love that mirrorball is a song that can be interpreted in so many ways.

I love and agree with both of your interpretations and I see it as a mix of both. As for the bridge, Taylor did a long pond studio sessions where she sings and talks about each song and she said that the bridge was a reference to the pandemic and everything shutting down and life going still for a moment but she was spending her time writing this album for us, trying to keep our attention when the entire world is on lock down

I love that life experience makes people interpret songs, or art in general, very differently. you were both right lol. Mere - I turned 41 last month, I resonated more with your interpretation. Bella - i would've had your exact interpretation at your age. one day you will get to the point where you realize the only person's opinion of yourself that matters IS yourself. life gets so much better when you honestly feel that.

I feel like she’s giving many perspectives with this song and y’all are both right. It’s a song for herself, her fans, and the person she holds closest to her. Herself-people pleasing & saying she knows her power to influence others and that’s a heavy responsibility (“& when I break it’s in a million pieces”-the pressure to keep her public image shiny and unbeatable bc society doesn’t let her fail-she’s a shining disco ball in the middle of the dance floor with all eyes on her just waiting for her to break), her fans-giving us what she knows we need bc she needs it too and she’s aware we use her songs like medicine, and the person she holds closest-she’d do anything for them to make them happy.
Hi Mere, so last week I was watching a TH-cam video reaction of "Anti Hero" by a guy who is a "Personality Analyst", and he has described Taylors personality as a "classic ESFJ personality". I had no idea what ESFJ was, so I Googled it. What's your thought?
...and Taylor said in the Long Pond Studio Sessions, that the lyric "they called off the circus, burned the disco down, when they sent home the horses and rodeo clowns" she wrote that lyric right after she learned that her Loverfest Shows were cancelled due to the pandemic.
That makes total sense! I can see her as an ESFJ. Maybe I should do a video on it? ♥️

And on a side note, when my (now exwife) and I were in "marriage counseling" (I considered it, divorce counseling) the councilor, after asking me a series of questions, she actually said to me, "so, you're a people pleaser? You put your wife on a pedestal?" I answered , "yes, that's what I grew up with, that's what I saw my Dad do for my Mom."

I am a mirror ball. I put on the right mask for the right people. And the I’m people pleasing. To fit in. To make them love me.
That only last so long. And then burn out. And the whole ball of masks shatters. And then we learn how to heal from burnout and unmask and find out who we are for real. And not the versions of myself that I’ve been for years.
You should totally do a manifestation techniques deep dive sometime, if you haven’t!

I love this! But my take on this song is SO different!!!! I feel like this is about putting on a show for a partner. Being agreeable with everything they say, trying her best to please them even when you are not apreciated... for me is "tolarate it" all over again...

it would be a DREAM if you'd analyze demi lovato songs. they speak of a place of someone who really goes through the ups and downs of addiction, family issues and body image disorders, lgbtq+ perspective and struggles, and public pressure to be perfect that are what me and so many also go through. some songs: dancing with the devil (please analyze the music video too, it is from the night demi had an OD and suffered ab*se but they chose to show everything in the clip to show how they were really at) it's really vulnerable and raw.

it would help to have a therapist listening and understanding the lyrics since a lot of people be like 'oh they're always talking about addiction', it could raise awareness on how addiction and recovery is a process and not always linear, and people who go through it have another things to deal in the way. anyway, i'm in love with your channel is helping me a lot, x
