  • Do you want to see hundreds of meteors shooting across the night sky? I'll show you how to see tonight's Meteor Storm! Remember that the farther away you are from light pollution the more meteors you will be able to see. What questions do you have and how was your experience seeing it? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

I watched from roughly 11:30 PM to 3:30 AM (eastern), able to see roughly magnitude 4 stars. Early in the evening, it seemed fairly active, roughly 24 meteors per hour, but decreasing in frequency closer to 1:00 AM.

I went out at around 12:45, stayed until about 1:15. I saw one meteor out of the corner of my eye heading toward Leo Minor.
I had my camera and wireless remote shutter so I set my camera to take 2 second exposures, then positioned it and got it focused with Arcturus, and laid down to watch the sky. I'd click the shutter every now and again, 32 photos.
When I got in, I was trying to move the photos with an old DOS command (I didn't want to move everything, or individually select 32 jpg files) ... and wound up wiping everything from the camera, and the main folder that I thought I was sending the photos into. My only consolation is that I doubt that my camera caught anything.
    Still - worth it.

I spotted Arcturus starting at 9 PM PDT and now it is 11:07 PM and I have not seen any meteor.
The sky is somewhat haze but I can see Vega on the east, Arcturus overhead, Denebola on the west.
Maybe I don't see the meteor shower because there is some moisture in the air.
