@@revivedfears And? Doesn't mean you can't feel sympathy for them since everyone get's stressed. By that logic nobody is allowed to feel bad about anything as someone is dying of starvation in Africa.
They don't do that every day. They hang around, waiting for trey and matt to come up with something, and then they finally do something. But probably it is a lot of looking at the walls, do minor stuff until they really have something going.
Just goes to show you how funny and quick Matt and Trey are…you have such a great improv actor and comedic writer like Bill Hader and he can barely keep up from just laughing.
12:18 You can tell that a large part of the success behind South Park is the fact that it's just two dudes trying to make each other laugh for 30 years.
Big respect for the fact that they manage to get these episodes done with little just a few hours til they air - the whole team works HARD during the season.
Yup, Trey Matt and the SP crew definitely live on the edge. It must be terrifying, exhausting, but also insanely rewarding when you finally get it all done.
Love the section where Matt talks about his role on the show at around 12 minute mark. In a business full of egos, its refreshing to hear that kind of honesty and emotional self understanding.
Yeah there’s no egos there. Matt doesn’t feel jealous that Trey is the more lead creative person, and Trey doesn’t feel arrogant that he has those creative skills. They just get to work and honestly seem to truly appreciate each other’s friendship and partnership. That’s pretty cool to see.
I think about this doc quite literally all the time - weirdly enough, it also reminds me of my mom. She always maintained that she “hated” South Park (even though she laughed at every single episode and even took me to see the movie in theaters lol), but when I made her watch this with me when it originally aired, she was genuinely surprised at just how much work goes into the show. She was like “wow, okay, I actually really respect that…those guys are a lot more intelligent than I realized.” I’ll never forget how proud and vindicated I felt in that moment haha.
This makes me wish we got a little mini featurette similar to this for every other season or so. Their creative process is super interesting, but just seeing them brainstorming and laughing with each other is weirdly wholesome. I mean, I can't say I've ever smiled like this at a group of writers talking about the gastrointestinal functions of a human centipede before.
What I love most about this documentary is that, despite the long long hours and not knowing when you'd be able to go home, everyone is LAUGHING SO HARD. It makes you remember that work can be tough, but if you're legitimately enjoying the process and having a good time, it makes that effort so much more worth it. Its probably why people decide to work at a place like South Park Studios tbh.
@10:20 Anne's reaction being their litmus test is phenomenal. You can tell all she's thinking about is that phone conversation she'll be having. Anne's the unsung hero and she gets her moment to shine with this documentary. Anne, WE SALUTE YOU 🙏
Matt casually throwing out the premise for Crack Baby Basketball and then having it shot down despite that being one of the best episodes they ever did is really amazing too.
lmao i remember watching this pre-art school thinking "wow, what a dream it would be to work on this show. I'd gladly go through all that just to work on it". 6+ years into working in the anim industry now and there is no amount of money you could pay me to work under these conditions hahhahaha. I feel for everyone involved
These guys must be compensated very well for their long hours, but I don't see how anyone could do this for years. No wonder Trey Parker has had like two divorces
@@Dawg_Lotion because its not difficult - its tedious but not difficult, and if you love creating this is a perfect job. because you don't have to wait months or years for the pay off. you see it that week, and the response. VERY GRATIFYING.
I've seen very few episodes of South Park. Once they started talking about the iTunes terms of agreement, my attention on this doc shot way up because I loved the Human CentiPad episode so much
I've always found this incredibly fascinating. From being completely stuck to putting together a complete & cohesive episode together in hardly any time at all. Just shows how much they really are masters of their craft, which the best possible team behind them
My heart sank when they started talking about the crackbabies episode in the writers room. I was like, please god in heaven, do not allow this documentary to be all about the making of one of my least favorite episodes. Thankfully it moved on to the Human Cent-Ipad episode, which is a great one. Thanks for uploading this my dude.
The respect for this work but at the same time you can see it was how they did this that made it amazing. Today’s stuff with all the extra production time kinda sucks compared to this era
I really hope we eventually get the second documentary that was filmed during Season 20. The director of the doc has said that the footage is ready for release, all they need is Matt & Trey’s approval. Would love to see the behind the scenes of the season due to the 2016 election.
@ Well, the behind the scenes of that season is incredibly interesting given what occurred with the election and them having to scrap their plans mid season. I think that would be quite the compelling drama compared to a run of the mill documentary on a normal season like 6 days to air was. The season itself isn’t very good but the behind the scenes seem fascinating. Plus, it’s already filmed so why not release it?
It's a trip, the part where they are wearing dresses. In todays world they would be complimented on how good it looks instead of trying to get a reasoning on why they are wearing them
Thanks for uploading the whole thing just as i was looking for it
No problem You are cool too

Trey: "Just whisper into my asshole"

She's a damn champion and arguably the most important part of south park at the time
"Happy Easter to you too" kills me

Watching the South Park team sleeping in the office & waking up at 04:30am makes you re-think how tired you actually are.

when Trey says “its a night of magic” at 25:51 he starts going a little cross-eyes. what a badass for not wearing sunglasses

The Mcdonalds bags are so nostalgic omg
You just gotta respect the discipline and hard work they put into their show
The McDonald’s scene with Trey is wholesome

I reckon the majority of them haha.
He hates the entirety of seasons 1-3. He wishes they didnt exist haha. Not a fan of them myself but they brought south park at its peak.
