I've been once to Sandy Bell's. I love that music! I going back with friends and I can't recall if there is a particular time of day or evening that best to catch the music. What do you think?

Thanks for schotish language!:) This is my favorite pub in Edinburgh. The best Haggis is the Pub Last Drop, and the most delicious steak is Shebeen :)

For most of my life there were no signs on the pub saying "Sandy Bell" or "Bells Bar". I think it used to be called the "Forrest Hill Tavern" although anyone in Edinburgh would refer to it as "Bells Bar". The same thing applied to a Pub in Morningside called, on the outside at least, "The Volunteer Arms", but was known universally as "The Canny Man's"..
Both establishments now display the "hidden" names, which I think detracts from the charm. The Sportsman's Arms in Dalry however retains it's "hidden" name of "The Diggers" by which it is known as by all drinkers of discretion in the City (.. although the beer is not as good as it was in my youth...!

Had painted above the door from 1976 Sandy Bells, but the side walls and Front said The Forest Hill Bar (not Tavern)
