I have a 11 month old he’s currently wt 14.7 lbs 2’2.18 Ht… GI specialist says he’s mild malnutrition and now even more concerned that his growth curve is going flat (his weight has fluctuated between 13lbs- 14lbs or stand at 14…they say next will be feeding tubes. My question is are tubes necessary if the child is able to eat and drink orally? My son eats and drink fine however he doesn’t drink a lot the most he drink is 5oz maybe 6 occasionally. Why are tubes considered ?
Hi @sakariasmine, first am sorry about your son, yes mild malnutrition, the key thing is diet, give balanced diet at all time, rehydrate the baby, if for sure child is feeding well orally i dont see why they should put a tube, not unless the doctor saw another indication of a tube which he should explain to you and make you understand
Hello @ogutujoshua, f75 is the 1st feed that we give to children with SAM, the initial feed, then after the child gains weight, we switch to catch up feed which is f100
Thank you so much dr. Jemimah. You are helping many people through your lessons.
