“We don’t own the land, we belong to it”. What an important and world changing idea, if only every human on earth could feel that same love and connection to the earth. I feel as if once you loose your connection and spiritually with Mother Earth, you loose your feeling of purpose and you feel as if you’re separate/different from every other living thing.

It was always such a special offering to my "History of New Mexico" course at Santa Fe Community College (2004-2009) to take two class sessions to present this excellent documentary. Usually there were a few students who came from nearby pueblos, such as Tesuque and Santa Clara, who provided their own oral traditions in describing events affecting their ancestors' lives: the arrival of Europeans, the Pueblo Revolt, and the influence of the Catholic Church in their various observations were some of those. The addition of these Pueblo histories told by people who lived the distinct lifestyle of this native group enriched the story told in "Surviving Columbus".

Almost 30 years ago. That explains why it's got dated terms. Like calling individuals 'blk or 'indian' to imply differences between those who are not 'indigenous'. The Spanish called melanated Aboriginal peoples "negros de tierra"; 'blks' of *this* land - as opposed to negros de Angola, Ghana etc. And the British still call people from India 'blk' (in addition to that "n" word). The Eastern Woodland tribes looked just like Ethiopians, according to Spanish accounts, and as a Cherokee and Mattaponi descended person, I can vouch for that. My Ramapo tribe relatives are always assumed to be 'African American' and are treated as such by police in NJ. Just because someone looks so called 'blk' does not mean they are from Africa (at least not within the last hundred or so generations...). And forced servitude did not end for *any* formerly indentured melanated peoples after the Civil War. It continued to take place well into the 1960's!!!

Think to yourself and ask why every other country hates america? The Native Americans, The Africans, The Palestinians, The Vietnamese, The koreans, the japanese, we all remember your atrocities and all the indigenous people around the world know that america is going to fall soon, Fear God, your fate as white americans has been sealed through the blood of our people. Fear God.@AmericanMadeAdventures

The Spanish that were Jewish were kicked out of Spain and they scattered. The dance in this video looks very Hebrew.

Thank you so much for this very wonderful and informative video! To the young Taos Indian woman, and this is from a person who has Indigenous Indians in her lineage as far back as the early 18th century: I, who am nothing, would better believe you if your name was (changed) to reflect your Native American roots. I saw repeatedly “American” names, so why not change the name/s? To the older woman (Mary) talking about the Protestant person coming to the door with a music box, no, Mary, you who are Indian, and possibly Catholic DOES NOT MAKE YOU KNOW, OR UNDERSTAND GOD better. Your statement actually was un-christened.

Chaco predated Navajo. It’s a satellite depot of the aztec. Meeting place. They went as far as Washington. By the time Athabaskan’s came in there wasnt much left. Brick layers came from Atlantis or moi. It’s evident. I’m of Athabaskan and Aztecs decent and a stone mason. The rocks will tell you the true story. Read between the sedimentary lines.

I have the utmost reverence and respect for all the native nations in this country but there are a few problems in this outdated video. There were no peaceful nations on this continent... The archeology of the southwest including Chaco canyon is full of destruction phases and even cannibalism. Let's study history but let's not mold it into what we want it to have been. War with the neighbors was just a fact of life.

Even before Christ was born? Our Lord said, 'before Abraham was, I am'. Christ is God, the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity who came to earth to teach us Truth. The native Americans, and they were not created in North America, but all came here from somewhere else, were living in pagan ignorance. My ancestors are Navajo. I am grateful to the Catholic misisonaries who came to bring God's Truth to my ancestors. I thank God for them and their sacrifices.
If some Native Americans now wish to return to and glorify their pagan beliefs, if they would rather tell themselves that their world came from two spider sisters living under the ground, I find that a tragic rejection of God and His Truth. The consequences of rejecting God and His Truth are eternal.
