The only bad thing about these stories is that the most incredible ones will probably never appear, since the perpetrators never got caught.

Robbing a widow the day she buries her husband is just so unnecessarily cruel. Like yeah she can recover the value of items through her insurance but forcing her to go through that while also dealing with burying her husband is just horrible. Not to mention some of the stolen items may have been very sentimental in relation to her husband.

There was a very famous case in my city where a high priced defence lawyer hit and killed cyclist but drove from the scene. Got home and necked a bottle of expensive red. The police caught up with him an hour later. The guy did the math is his head and running from the accident got him less time than them being able to prove he was drunk when he killed the guy.
He was disbarred and he went from being high society to a nobody.

A guy I knew would “tax” the owners of the company we worked for by pocketing a $20 every time the very abusive owner would yell at him. Most things were cash and as a large portion of the income was service based, so there often weren’t receipts or anything written down.
I never said anything because honestly they deserved it. He said basically that they didn’t pay him enough to yell at him for their own mistakes, but they can mistakenly pay him enough to tolerate them one more day.
On his last day, he walked out with over $300 in cash from the till that they never even noticed was missing. He hadn’t been yelled at that day. He just hated them at that point and decided they could spare a parting gift.
I hated them too, so I wasn’t exactly tripping over myself to tell them and technically they didn’t ask.

As an Aussie - EFTPOS isn't spelt out, it's said as a single world like you don't call NASA "En-Ay-Es-Ay" but "Nah-sah".

Former bank teller here... 5:16 "None of the banks triggered the silent alarm..." The robber wasn't necessarily intimidating. We're trained to do whatever a robber says and give them whatever they ask for. And don't trip the silent alarm unless 100% safe to do so, which is usually after the robber has left. Why? The money is insured, and our lives are more important than any amount of money in the bank. Preserve life, not the cash.

There’s a saying-you don’t catch the smart ones. True-ish. I have encountered some crafty, persuasive, or cagey ones, but that’s more instinctive almost than skill or talent. Just my experience, maybe there is a Clouseau out there that’s encountered a Sir Lytton 🤷‍♂️

My great grandpa told a story about how his childhood farming community's bank was robbed back in the 1930s (one of two times it was robbed before it was closed, but suspects were caught both times). Some teens held up the bankeras he opened up one day. The banker gave a description of the getaway car. The law enforcement traced the car going into one of the many orange groves but lost track of it after that but noticed a puddle. Around 30 minutes later a civilian made a comment about just looking for a recently cleaned car. As it turned out the man was their uncle. They had used water soluble paint on the car and simply washed it off when they were out of sight.

I did the restaurant thing over 20 years ago when I was waiting tables at dennys. They started screwing with our tips with this new pos system. It was taking half our tips and wouldn’t fix the problem. So all of a sudden cash sales plummeted. When someone paid cash. We went into the system, removed 90% of the things on the ticket and pocketed the difference. They stole hundreds from us. But we stole tens of thousands from them over the 6 month span they refused to fix the pos system.

Used to live in a small country town in Australia. Small enough that it didn't have a police station but large enough for a bank. A guy I knew (white) had this plan to fully cover his body and essentially blackface areas that might even show. Then make himself smell like an alcho and rob the bank talking/ slurring like a stereotypical drunk aboriginal (which the town had a few, in fact all the demographics of that town had alcohol problems). He knew a couple of people who worked in the bank and they were hell racist so would buy into the act really easily.
Then he realised he had drunkenly told someone his plan so could never do it. Does make me wonder though. Lot's of places in the world where you can cover your skin and put on a different accent and people won't even be looking for someone of your race. Especially paces where people have various opinions of which races commit crimes.

The store only had one security camera (If it even was a real camera) in the back isle where all the beer was and I can't remember the amount of times I just went into the walk in cooler, took a bottle of Red Bull out back, emptied it and threw it into the dumpster. Never got caught because I was alone in the back sorting deliveries quite often and the other employees and the two managers were too busy to check on me

Ok the storage unit one toward the end reminded me of a thing.
I had a storage unit for a while after moving out after a breakup with a long term girlfriend who I was living with at the time. Fast forward a year and a half and im moving again into a better apartment with a lot more storage so I don't need my storage unit anymore. Go down there to get the rest of my stuff out, hadn't been there in probably close to 6 months. I show up and there's a completely different lock on my unit. Go to the office and they said it was one of their locks. I asked what happened to my lock and why their lock was on it. The person working literally could not tell me. There was no note on my account or anything. I get the key from him, go down there, and half my shit is gone. Clearly my locker was broken into, stolen from, one of the storage place employees found my locker unlocked, put a lock on it, and at no point did anybody think to call the person renting the unit to tell me. That is one of the very few 1 star google reviews that I will never edit or take down.

For story 43- where you buy $500 of girlscout cookies and get a tax deduction for it, then donate that money to a charity and get a tax deduction for *that,* like......... Is that not legal, though? Why wouldn't that be legal?

Pirating Amazon Prime TV: get a Fire TV stick, a HDCP stripper sold as an "HDMI splitter" to crack the encryption, and an HDMI capture card to connect the cracked signal into your computer and hit record. All three devices can be ordered at the same time, and will arrive in the same box, with one-day free shipping because you're a Prime member.

Also, the story about the guy filing fraudulent business registrations to later claim a portion of the assets that didn't belong to him: obviously the attorney was in on the scam, and the way to stop these scams is disbarment of the attorney involved. Attorneys have a code of ethics and aren't allowed to help people commit fraud.

I have a funny story when i worked at Arby's in june of 2023 i was doing the cleaning work mopping the back as i was a pot head and not allowed to do much else while i was blasted. Well on this day im mopping the back of the Arby's and my manager was swapping the registers, well someone came through the drive thru and gave one of my coworkers a play money 20. Don't quite remember if they tried to pay with it or just gave them it as a joke but my boss comes to me and says. "Hey X, does this look like a real 20" and at the time im so high off weed (blunts and a pen) that im on auto pilot. I take a quick glance at the play money 20 and say no, then start busting out laughing as my boss tells me what happened. Im like bruh that's way to big and it's dark green and teal no way thats a real 20.

Take a shot every time you hear “not a cop” in a reddit video about cop stories

Someone I knew drove home drunk (yup stupid) and near his house he could tell a cop was on to him but hadn't turned on the just lights yet, so he speed the rest of the way home, ran into his house and quickly grabbed a bottle of vodka. At this point the cop had caught up and started pounding on the door. The guy quickly opened up the door and before even saying a word to the cop, took a few huge swigs from the vodka bottle. This instantly made any breathalyser or other sobriety tests the cop was planning to give completely useless as the cop just saw him drink on his own premises.

    For that Best Buy dude:
I used to work at BBY, both store and corporate levels
If the customers has complained he would've still been caught
He's not nearly as slick as he thinks he is, he just got lucky lol
The only thing he did was potentially also get that other person mixed up in it 🤣🤣🤣

    Here’s a good one….
So I was chilling at one of those outdoor access storage unit I was renting one cold ish winter day a couple years ago, moving stuff around whatever when out pops this rickety over animated tweeker girl in her 30’s out of nowhere and tries to strike up some meaningless conversation with me. My hands instantly start fishing around for my trinity of life, phone/keys/wallet the second I saw her.
This wasn’t my first rodeo, and sure enough, she does this lunge-pointy thing at the doorway I was standing in, watching her like a hawk but she was QUICK.
I saw the downward swiping motion with her arm over the top of a shelf but like I said, I had my trinity of life onboard and after she went tracking onward, back to her storage unit where she mumbled something about staying there with her bf earlier.
I figured AT BEST she just swiped some dumb old thing that must be more important to her….
DUDE!!!! Everything was going just FINE….
UNTIL. I look for my STORAGE LOCK. I remember looking for quite awhile. Went through my car starting to panick…. I mean, nice move.
BUT thankfully for my annoying side effect of smoking the reef, I always do the “trinity of life check” EVERTY TIME I move 10 ft or more AND always keep an extra something handy due to countless past dumb damsel in distress situations in the past that I prefer to not repeat if and when possible.
I thought I was EFFED. It was after hours and there was no one else there but ME and THEM. Hiding. Somewhere. With. My. Storage. Lock.
I would have been FORCED TO LEAVE MY UNIT UNATTENDED before I’d have to run about a mile up the road to True Value Hardware store to buy another one.
Looks like this wasn’t their first rodeo either….
This was getting increasing spookier with each passing minute on many levels when….
    CHECKMATE.
I FOUND ANOTHER ONE IN MY CAR WITH A KEY!
After I slammed that door down that locked that MF I breathed a sigh of refused WHILE caring to my vehicle.
    Here’s the kicker…
As I was exiting toward the property gate I had my drivers window half way open and while passing through the suspected area of where these two were staying…. LOL
I never saw them only HEARD them arguing like cats and dawgs after a-plannin’ gon wrong!
I wanted to hackle out in laughter at their demise but I know bolt cutters are either smaller and eisier to steal, they’re only $20 (and I saw a sandwich earlier that week for $10!)
So the moral of the story is if the good guy wins you don’t taunt and encourage to ramp up their temptation to make another play but…. You just know when to walk away when date already solved the problem.

For the last comment by the narrator about all the random stuff on the internet and how no one will go through it all to figure out who did this or that. Just wait until we have a good enough artificial intelligence with enough processing power and someone will get the idea to have it do all of the checking and tracking.
