"Rashaya El Wadi" Traditional Lebanese Village & The Citadelle of Independence

Rachaya el-Wadi (راشيا), is a town of the Rashaya District in the south of the Beqaa Governorate. It is situated at around 1,350 meters above sea level on the western slopes of Mount Hermon, south east of Beirut near the Syrian border, and approximately halfway between Jezzine and Damascus.
It's a traditional Lebanese town with its old cobbled streets and small shops, even though it witnessed in recent years a slight expansion of buildings. It retains a distinguished character of traditional stone houses with red tiled roofs. The Rashaya Citadel, also known as the Citadel of Independence, has been declared a national monument, having been first built as a palace by the Chehab family in the 18th century.

راشيا الوادي ما أجمل طبيعتها وهوائها النقية وينبوعها الباردة وعسل جبل الشيخ مذاقه لاينتس وفيها أيضا صناعة الصوبيات الخشبية اليدوية الأصلية وتشاهد بألعين المجردة جبل الشيخ وسلسلة جبال حرمون الممتدة التي تلبس ثوبها الأبيض من الثلج وأنصح كل شخص بزياتها لتمتع بطيعتها الخلابة
This is the city were my grandmom borned in 1910. She came tô Brasil in 1923. Her name Daud Dibs, married with Hanna

My father was born in Rashaya el Wadi
Him and his siblings were very attached to it. His father and grandfather emigrated to the USA only to go back and purchase many lots and start a family.
@Cocci Nelle rashaya is split druze and Greek Orthodox. Usually the villages are a mix. Nowadays i don’t know the ratio . All his kids emigrated to Canada and/or US .

Notice villages are either muslims of one sect and Christians of one sect or druze and christians of one sect. I don’t think there are villages with same religion but different sects. I might be wrong there but that’s my observation. I’m told druze is in a way muslim however there are huge differences as far as social and religious traditions.
@Cocci Nelle my dad who ,now passed away , tried to sell his shares in the lots inherited from his father. He said the druze will not allow some sales to take place to Christians in some areas. They had to be sold to druze only. What allows the cohabitation is mainly they’re all in it together. They get buried in the winter snow together and are almost isolated.
