      Same here.. My girl mentions Tagatay I might like. Her family are just down from Baguio in La Union in San Juan however.. So Baguio would keep us nearer.. Just 90 minutes or so from the beaches and resorts near her home.

    That Wright Park needs to be cleared of weeds and planted with beautiful flowers,. I lived in Baguio city for 7 years when it was not that crowded. I am so happy to know they sell wine there too, that is new.

    • @leticiachiok8057
      @leticiachiok8057 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True...the Wright Park must be maintained, its flowering plants must be kept as many plants/trees (like pine trees) truly thrive well due to its cool climate. Since Baguio city is a popular tourist destination, it should boost/promote and preserve the whole income-generating aspect. 🤗♥️👏

    Retire with $966/month which is about $1,000/month is a lot of money in the Philippines…. despite it’s considered cheap and poor country. Surely, in some islands over there, there are people living with less than $200/month…!!

    • @sandan778
      @sandan778 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      If you do not want to live in a decent place where water is scarce and so crowded then sure you can live with a budget of 200 dollars per month but people from the western countries can not tolerate that kind of life.

    • @carlosbleza5407
      @carlosbleza5407 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That’s his budget for 2 people.

    • @salahedinebensghir1649
      @salahedinebensghir1649 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sandan778 Just slow down and be wise , $200 is kind of too low in comparison to $1K. I didn’t say I acquiesce living in an abysmal condition or being bummed out in an abject society, but with a partner and keep doing some P/T remote work, you can manage your living in smart ways and have descent life. I think it’s good and beneficial to stay active and same time enjoying your retirement.

    Baguio is a lot cheaper to live if you are an expat compared to other cities in Philippines! You will also save a lot of money from air conditioning and still have a fbit of fresh air compared to manila

    • @thelowprofile9767
      @thelowprofile9767 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    "There is a retirement visa in the Philippines, but very few people bother with it because it is so easy to stay in the Philippines on tourist extensions."
    However, I would recommend that if you qualify, to investigate the retirement office in Baguio, my experience with them has been nothing but excellent. Google is your friend, all the details are on the internet.

    Me and my wife are from Baguio and we already have a place. I’ll be retiring from my work here in the US and will be receiving my US pension soon but will live in Baguio and alternately in BGC. With also my Philippine pension, I guess I’m all set. For those here in the US and about to retire, consider retiring in the Philippines.

    Baguio used to be the location of Camp John Hay, a US Military R&R base during the VN war. Later in the mid 80's my govt/DOD agency used to put on training conferences there at Camp John Hay. Sessions Road was still a country area, the main highways were dirt hills and SM was not even built. Then in the late '80s, there was a big earthquake there causing a lot of damage, now that has been replaced. My wife is a Filipina of 30 years; with homes at the lower levels of the mountains, so we travel to Baguio to cool off during the hot days when we visit PI, away from northern Nevada. It is known as a resort for all today and a lot has changed to make it a tourist site.

    Ukay Ukay markets are cool.. Banana leaf infused foods are an acquired taste maybe. Some may find it strong flavored.

    baguio is amazing better looking and a lot lot colder long time ago when they did not cut many pine trees yet.. the mountains replaced by houses now ☺️

    Baguio is nice but it tends to get more big earthquakes and it’s nerve-racking because you’re worried about your house will become part of a land slide. Still, Baguio is known for its strawberries and peanut brittle. The nights are too cold for my taste but it’s worth a visit.

      Live in a solid limestone mountain which is half of the city.. Fault line is in a nearby town not Baguio itself..
