I feel like watching f1 has broken my brain. I watch this and go think "damn that's pretty slow" and then I think some more and realise that 1 guy changing two wheels with lug nuts that quickly is insane.
That's kind of why I like the one lug tires, you have less of a risk losing a race because someone fucked up putting a tire back on. It's impressive and a really amazing skill, but I'd rather the races be won on the track than the pits.

They blur the wheel wells because the types of parts the brake/platform technician uses can be easily identified by anyone else racing the same class, and if they get beat by someone who copied their exact parts and setup, it would be a big loss... Every part is sourced by different manufacturers, this tech may have found a good benefit from using a specific set of different parts, and doesn't want anyone else to steal his research... Those nascar setups are also very exclusive, and this also probably prevents people from knowing how to tamper with them or 'copy' them illegally at home.

I have a lot more respect for the pit crew safety gear now, seeing the flame resistance suit and helmet both work in keeping the pit crew safe made it badass

You can run the wets on road courses and street tracks in active rain. Can’t do it on speedways. They tried that this past June at New Hampshire, it’s my home track so i went and saw it live. They had to bring the jet dryers out, but they were able to start running on a damp track because of the wet tires.

They drip feed it to us slowly to make the most money off of it as their tech improves and they let us have the old tech. If they allow everyone to know what they're using at the highest levels, thats less money in the pockets of big auto. By the way, you pay for all their r&d by supporting the "sport" of racing.

Racing most of the times has guidelines, but you can use whatever fits in these guidelines. Racing tech isn't ahead of time. It just does not make sense to commericially use a racing suspension in anything other than a racecar it feels like shit to drive with a racing suspension, you feel everything, no one would drive that shit as a family car or just to get from A to B. I own a track car. I wouldn't ever think about driving this to work... Cool, it's fast has the best wheels and good handling. Put my god, it's not comfortable.
