I listened to waves recently and I thought « this sounds like a song from watch dogs 2 », and now I just realized that hudson produced both waves and watch dogs 2 soundtrack
I love the fact that he uses FL Studio as his main DAW and Gross Beat. That’s what I use, so it feels more inspiring to me. Gross Beat is one of my favorite effects because it can automate the whole sampling process and you can create time shift and noise gate patterns really easily with it
Just realized, since kanye changed the kicks and removed the snares from waves, he took the drums from this and turned it into the watch dogs theme, even using the same VST to chop up the same chorus sample.
I remember listening to HudMo back in the day and then when Ye signed him I thought “yeah that makes perfect sense” and the music they put out is imo the gold standard of where a song should be sonically
this video shows how underrated hudson is man. the experimentation he's done for his own material and the influence kanye knew he had just shows mans deserves his flowers

Ok so I'm looking at the levels of the his mixer at the first at 0:25.... and they are so much higher than what ive learned. What is he using to compress those sounds lol. Every time I get in the +2db range i'm clipping. Is it sound selection, compression or just for the video. Ridiculous. Im guessing the mixing engineer is correcting this right?
There's a video that goes over that quite well, look up; "The Future of Mastering: Loudness in the Age of Music Streaming" To answer abit, those audio levels you see in a mixer are misleading and not the true way to determine loudness. (Yes, this blew my mind when I learned all previous advice was a lie...)
