how was Grief by Earl Sweatshirt made? It apparently has a sample in it, but I have no clue how it's used (other than the obvious one at the end)
I think Let Me Clear My Throat - DJ Kool would make a pretty good Beat Breakdown, quite a few samples used in that. Flava In Ya Ear - Craig Mack would be pretty interesting and very impressive if you were up for a challenge, no one online can seem to pinpoint which samples were used for the beat.

hey. i'm quite new to sampling. does anybody know why Sandurz (and of course all the rest of producers) is 'chopping' samples, taking in consideration that in fact he's composing these 'fragments' in straight loops? I mean: why is he cutting samples, if he could make a straight loop and pitch it up. I know this beat is a little more complicated, but in others cases (like Wu-Tang's CREAM) he could apply 'my' method.
And 2nd question: does anybody know how to pitch up samples in FL Studio? I mean, in this same way like when Sandurz saying 'we have to pitch it up by about semi-octave'. Is FL studio has any similar function?

+Drill Beats 1. He chops the loops by the kick and the snare in order to have more control of the loop itself. By having the chops like that, you can sequence them like you would regular drums without dealing with minor tempo changes that might happen if you just left the loop untouched. Check out his J. Cole - Wet Dreamz Breakdown. He explains it more in depth there.
2. You can pitch up your samples in FL by either timestretching them according to your grid and tempo or you can manually change the pitch using a dial that appears when you click your sample.
