I have been a ostomate for 4 months now, nothing in this journey has been easy for me. Thanks for the videos I find them to be helpful and watching them lets me know that I'm not alone. I hope to be able to tell my story one day and maybe help someone in the process. Peace and Blessings to all...
Very glad for all the informative videos on you tube . I am also a colorectal cancer survivor with a permanent colostomy . I am Norwegian and live I Norway.thank you Jelena and yours survivor friends . It helps me a lot.
Thanks so much for your courageous sharing of your journey. I am also a stage 3 colorectal cancer survivor with a permanent transverse colostomy. The hardest thing at first was the shock - my whole digestive system was to be "re-wired" and I had to make the decision in a few days! I had always associated colostomies with old men and was so demoralized. Then I found out how common colostomies have become among younger people, especially young women, not just for cancer but for severe cases of Crohn’s, IBS, and other increasingly common gut ailments. I can tell you, there is so much more helpful information up on line, through youtube shares like this one, than I ever got from my doctors or the "ostomy nurses." Sites like yours, Jelena, have been a real emotional and physical lifeline for coping. Thanks again! Love and hugs to all.
I came to a place that I don't think there is much more for me to comment about cancer that it has not been said already. Much love and respect for patients, families and health care providers fighting this disease. ♥️
This is awesome. I'm a figure skater and my permanent ostomy surgery and barbie butt is scheduled for June 23rd. I'm so ready to have the rest of my life back! Sending love to you fellow warriors.
Cool! My daughter figure skates too so I spend lots of time at the rinks in town. Definitely see about getting connected with a physical therapist who can help you get back to the ice and hopefully keep you injury-free. Best wishes for your surgery 💙
Its great that you made this video because its very informative for the many people who have been diagnosed with Rectal cancer, and most important of all is, it gives the people hope and encourages them. It proves that cancer is not always a death sentence!
Thank you for putting these interviews together, hearing other people's perspectives especially around the early days of having an ostomy/advice on coping and living with it are super super helpful! I'm 6 weeks into having mine. I went in for a standard procedure to widen a narrowing. Unfortunately due to complications I had a perforation and literally 4 hours to process the news that they were going to do the emergency surgery and colostomy... It's been very difficult to come to terms with it all and to accept that it may be forever (or not). I would say day to day things are getting easier for me but I also know it's a long road to recovery. All the best.
You're welcome. I can imagine it would be harder to come to terms with the ostomy when you weren't expecting to have it. Just think of your recovery as a marathon and not a sprint, it takes a lot of time. Sending you well wishes 💙
Dear Jelena, Wishing you and your family, A Very Bright, Beautiful, Happy and Healthy New Year 2021. Hope you have a simply wonderful new year. Thanks for all your educational and entertaining videos. I love them all and above all, thanks for being you. :-)
Why is it that some people have nightmare problems with ostomy bags and some don't? I'm in a Facebook group and there are some horrible horrible Challenges people will go through
That’s a great question. I’ve found that most people in those groups are ones that are having troubles so that makes it seem like a ton of people have a hard time. Once you’re no longer struggling you tend to leave those groups because you don’t need help anymore, and it can sometimes be triggering to hear about all those people struggling when you aren’t at the moment.
For me it is a nightmare my life stop , after been butchered. I am always in pain , Soooooo sad 😭😭 i was active sexually , Gone, bicycle Gone, sitting on a chair 20 maximum , walking 10 min , i gain 100 pounds in 3 months and it is not because i eat too much , since the shit bag she damage the bladder., 😭😭 All in All she destroyed my life 😡😡
Wish you the best in life.Thznks for sharing your experience

Thank you ☺️ The doctors and nurses usually haven’t been through this experience so they really have no idea what it feels like to be in our shoes.
