I'm so glad to hear this beautiful testimony. I accepted Jesus into my heart 43 years ago. My family was very confused. My parents actually thought I went crazy. But as the years have gone by my family members have embraced the faith also.

Dear Megyn, thank you for this. You are a marvelous interviewer, letting your guest tell his story without interruption. I so agree with Mr. Klavan’s assertion that a deep and abiding Christian faith has always been the bedrock of western culture, and the strength behind the success of the American Republic. One nation, under God. If we lose that faith as a nation, there is no hope.

      Dennis,
What does it hurt for someone to do right, to be led by someone that is a great example to follow? Why does it torment you that people are using their freedom? If they are wrong, what is it to you? If they are happy, why does it bother you so much? Let them be Christians and you can believe in Secular Humanism. What a great country that we can do that eh?

    • @chikkipop

@@scottgarvy It's fascinating that you see no harm in self-deception. You ask a series of very silly questions, so let me answer them.
*"What does it hurt for someone to do right, to be led by someone that is a great example to follow?"*
Uh huh; it just pains me to no end to see people doing right! That was a silly question!
But back to reality: the notion that anyone should "follow" or be "led by" an ancient figure is absurd. Knowledge & understanding are cumulative, and the result of human efforts over all of history. There is no single figure anyone needs to follow, and doing so indicates a misunderstanding of the evolution of ideas.
*"Why does it torment you that people are using their freedom?"*
      Ouch. That was even sillier!
Back to the real world and the actual subject matter, which has *nothing to do with freedom.* We're free to believe all manner of absurdities, but should we? With freedom comes responsibility, and making good choices matters.
*"If they are wrong, what is it to you?"*
It surprises me when people give this so little thought. The answer is so obvious; beliefs have *consequences.* Do you wish to live surrounded by superstition, or do you prefer an educated community whose actions are based upon reality instead of ancient myth?
Your entire comment is about "freedom" and my seeming opposition to it, which entirely misses the point. If you'd like to get back on topic, let me know and we can discuss.
As a refresher, here is the comment which I reacted to: *"...a deep and abiding Christian faith has always been the bedrock of western culture, and the strength behind the success of the American Republic. One nation, under God. If we lose that faith as a nation, there is no hope."*
Is there reason to suppose this is true, or not? 😇

@@scottgarvy What they say about opinions is wrong! What matters is how well supported opinions are. Using the old "That's your opinion" line is an easy way to avoid making the effort to support your case.
Opinions are not equally valid. This should be abundantly obvious. You can do better, my friend.

Thank you Megyn for letting this man share his faith...I hope it reaches many hearts! When I was 25 I felt like my life was empty and I called out, not really a prayer either. God sent a workmate who invited me to church, though I'd never been to one. I didn't go but attended a Bible Talk and the more I read the Bible, the more I saw how messed up my life was and why I was so unhappy. I got baptized at 26 and my friend told me my spiritual eyes would open and though I didn't believe her, that's exactly what happened. I now know truths I always had questions about. I am now 56 and as my extended family members lives continue to spiral out of control, mine is stable and it is all because of my faith in my salvation through Yeshua.

of course "the washing" of regeneration", in Titus 3:5 is Water baptism...the Greek word for "washing" there is "Louton" (have you ever heard the British call the Bathroom a "Lou")...it means "Bath in water"...read it and weep:

As for what you accuse me off, my sad, dry theology, when you have a religion that denies Scripture of course anything that's truth is sad and dry to you.
As for altar calls, sinners prayers, and asking Jesus into your heart, you're right, they aren't Biblical, and I don't believe they are to be used, neither does my church.
Do you always bear false witness against anyone who disagrees with you?
Anyway to the subject, you would change all of Scripture to make it agree with your twisted theology, but truth is stronger than your twisting of it.

Truth Seekers are like salmon swimming up the river to the salmon spawning grounds..there is a call upon them they can't ignore...no matter the hungry bears and jagged rocks that hurt them as they swim against the current...they just keep moving forward, they can't help themselves. A Truth Seeker in the West typically knows the name of Jesus, but, Truth Seekers want to actually know Him, not just know about Him, so they rarely fit into the religious institutions of Christendom. Truth Seekers in the East typically don't know the name of Jesus, but, they stand for Truth even if it gets them killed e.g. if a young man tells his village chief it's wrong for that chief to kill a man so he can have his wife, and then the yong man gets a spear through his heart for speaking so fearlessly, I guarantee that he'll be greeted by Jesus and enter Paradise. @@chikkipop can you prove that i'm wrong? So far you're doing no better than what you accuse me...being opinionated. But, that's fine with me. I started adult life telling people "the Bible is nothing but a crutch for psychological cripples". So I am not lacking in compassion for you 😁
Dennis, are you married? What proof is there that your spouse loves you??? That your spouse married you? Longevity? No divorce? What your spouse says or does to or for you? Or is it enough you want to believe your spouse loves you? With many marriages starting in fornication, moving onto adultery, abortions and divorce, sometimes murder, being married is no proof of love, is it?
So how do you prove love...or prove hate for that matter? Some people absolutely hate and denounce unrighteousness and injustice - does that make them hateful people that need to be destroyed? Criminals might think so. Communists might think so. Also, there are many things we believe, yet, we have no faith (no trust) in them.
I believe water can quench my thirst and, at the same time, unless there is clear evidence to the contrary, I must also choose to trust that the water isn't poisoned. If it's good quality well water, not only do I believe its water, but, I also trust it, even though I don't necessarily know beyond doubt that on that particular day it was not poisoned by a crazy neighbor. I also believe Biden and Trudeau are our Western Leaders, yet, I've never personally met them. So do I trust the media who tells me who they are? Do I trust that they are good Leaders. No. Not even a little bit. While I do believe we have a MSNM and that our Dear Leaders exist, but, I do NOT trust them. In my case, I place my trust in Holy Divine God and not in anyone or anything created, not anymore. My first 35 years of life experience told me that I could marry my husband having known him only 5 months, and 31 years later we're doing fine. Could I have proved to anyone our love for each other was real? Beyond doubt? No. Yet, I knew...just as I know God's love for me s not a figment of my imagination, and that His enduring Truth is even more real to me than is my (created) husband who, with lots of proofs and with no doubts, is my very best friend on earth. He, by the way, is an Evolutionist so sometimes our conversations are quite interesting 😂
The psyche (soul) exists above the physical and material realm and below the spirit(ual)...where experience, knowledge, beliefs and faith (trust) battle it out between the Source of Truth & Love and the Source of Lies and Hate...and some of us (like Spawning Salmon) have been Truth Seekers all our lives, it's like we're driven ever forward to accomplish something that only gets revealed day by day, year by year, and mainly by God's Holy Spirit and with God as the Living Word and with God's own words.
However, not all Truth Seekers have the privilege of being born into and raised in national Christendom (the West) with it's civilized rule of law and it's spiritual NT Christian Bibles available even in our hotels. Instead, some Truth Seekers are born into cultures where neither rule of law nor bibles are available to protect their rights and develop their character, and provide insight into our Creator's Plans for His human creation. Yet, they still, almost blindly, seek a path of love and truth, no matter what it costs them. In many ways I admire those Truth Seekers most of all.
Well, I'm not trying to prove anything to anyone, I'm merely expressing my beliefs and encouraging others to believe as do I...but, Jesus never imposed Himself on me, so neither do I ever impose my beliefs about Him on others. Yet, I must "show Him off" because He has answered every question I've ever asked, even if it took years, and He was so patient with me during my immature stage...so, yeah, I recommend Jesus to anyone who cares to listen!
By the way, I do not go to church, I do not attend any of Christendom's many religious organizations and denominations. I follow only Jesus. I read my Bible, pray, trust and obey. That's it, that's all.
Anyhow, Dennis, you've given me things to think about 😏 and I wish you all the best life on earth has to offer.

Excellent testimony. We all have to start somewhere. I started when I went to a fortuneteller with tarot cards in NYC. She laid the cards down in front of me and they described my past, present, and decisions I had just made for my future with absolute precision. I was just a dumb pot smoking kid out of high school but I had the good sense to ask: Who shuffled the deck? Then later when I read the Bible through for the first time I learned the distinctions between virtue and vice. And it all hinges on the Ten Commandments, which none of the churches obey. Christians deny the Law Christ obeyed, while the Jews deny the Bible as a whole. Can't have one without the other.

You sound so much like me before I found the truth - I remember a very heated argument with a friend about how silly things that are in the Bible sound. I was so wrong. I now don't need more evidence as my journey has brought me to a place in which I can "hear" Him answer me when we talk. I think I still have a paperback copy of his original book that someone had given me, and it was laughably unconvincing. Like reading Strobel's book, or "Mere Christianity" by CS Lewis, it quickly becomes obvious that these books don't hold up to legitimate scrutiny.
You speak of your "journey" and how you were "so wrong," but nowhere do you explain what you were wrong about, or how you found out.
You said *"I now realize that the facts were all around me"* and yet nowhere do you present any! This is a common behavior with believers, and points to one explanation; you made an emotion-based decision to give your life "meaning," and facts had nothing to do with it. If they did, you and so many other believers would have so much more to offer than bad apologetics writers who make their money by selling to the flock.

Recently, while watching the movie Schindler’s List, it suddenly struck me that in the same way Jesus the innocent One was killed so we the guilty might escape punishment is pretty much how the Jews in 1930s/40s Germany were killed for no obvious sin with the net effect that their holocaust is what saves the guilty Islamists from being targeted for retaliation today. Had the world never witnessed the holocaust, it is arguable that the rampant terrorism of Islamists would have triggered several attempts in diverse places to annihilate followers of that faith by now; even though amazingly the same Jews are so hated and wished dead by the Islamists.

I like Andrew Klavan and agree with nearly everything he says about politics and culture. But is a great misconception to think he converted from Judaism to Christianity. His "Judaism" was an empty ethnic identity with shallow observance and Jewish illiteracy. Actual emptiness. Very typical situation in America at the time that Klavan was growing up. He found Christianity which was presented to him as a very attractive alternative with far more substance than his "Judaism". It's really a shame. Klavan is very bright, and I am certain that deep inside Klavan has inner doubts about Christian orthodox tenets.
