Finding Wakanda : Care through conservation Part of Open elective 2024 - Cultures of Care Within the paradigm of global changes and development, cultural heritage becomes a tool to anchor one’s own identity and create pause points in an otherwise transit and fast lifestyle. As the world changes the cultural heritage conservation process also needs to ideate means of addressing contemporary changes while conserving the values of the cultural and natural assets. Such an idea was explored by the Marvel World in their idea of Wakanda, a utopian settlement set in African context which is in perfect harmony with the state of the art technology while maintaining their cultural identities and respect for nature. The video showcases the process of how the participants of elective established the related values and explored contemporary design processes & techniques to create a sculptural response to a monument from the 17th century located in the NID Ahmedabad campus, using futuristic idea of algorithmic progressions.
