    It's an unfortunate REALITY that in Hawaii & many other places the citizens are having to take the LAW INTO THEIR HANDS to protect what is theirs & their own! Good on you guys for going this route as we have no other choice now a days! Prayers for the Safety of all who fight crime & to those who are willing to defend what's theirs!! TY goodness that we now have Conceal & Carry & for the companies like BYRNA that are now operating in Hawaii! TY to all YOU HERO's who are putting their lives on the line!!

      There are large amounts of homeless on Maui but most stick to public access areas. Taking the law into your own hands will only lead to law suits that cost you not them, I know first hand. Law enforcement is extremely laid back on the island. Had a guy crossing my land daily, had him on video and had video of encounters with him. Was told if any harm came to him on my land (he was illegally crossing) I would be in trouble for it. Security engaged with him and i was sued and had to pay the guy for crossing my land.

      As a Polynesian u Americans fwucked hawaii up real good most pacific nations don’t have that much homeless…..in our culture it’s normal for us to welcome them into our homes and help them……….and p.s these owners feelings is exactly the same feelings as indigenous Hawaiians and it’s pretty fwucked how I have to say indigenous aswell soo it’s kinda of hypocritical for these owners to be complaining………

    Its a failure of local government when private citizens are forced to use their own funds in addition to the high taxes they already pay, to get the basic services they need like protection from the droves of criminals Honolulu has released back onto the streets, leaving the public to bear the brunt of the problem. Its always some excuse why "nothing can be done" by local government: plenty of reasons provided why they: cant fix the roads, cant deal with the homeless, cant tackle crime, cant provide enough affordable housing , cannot reduce expenses for working people whom they were intended to serve in the first place. Great to see one person standing up and doing something, maybe local officials will take some notes on how to get things done.

    • @educated_guess
      @educated_guess ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The local government officials have so many things/services that they can't provide, just like you said, but those same officials feel they deserve a pay increase. I don't understand the thought process of these government representatives. Take those pay raises and catch that $15k per month security bill that the business owner is footing so his fellow shop owners and customers can feel safe.

      @kevingrennan3989 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@johnjerman3421 its about what the ppl of ChinaTown have been saying for decades already and the lack of any effective response from law enforcement to address the consistent reports. Maybe the police are understaffed, maybe they are underfunded, but that is no excuse to stop there. Solve the issue, that is the job of public officials. Not to make excuses of why another basic thing cant get done. Law enforcement is either effective enough or not. If its not working as it was designed to, make changes. this is so basic.

Their top priority is to secure more pay for themselves, anything else is a secondary concern. that is a bad omen for the rest of us, as we can see they have no serious intentions of serving the community, as they have made their move to put themselves first and vote for their own pay raises against the will of the community and those who elected them.

Private security is not cheap but it’ll be worth it in the long term. The owner cares about his customers. These are after all, the people who are his paying customers and they MUST be kept safe. Yeah, but I live in California, and Hilo. In California, They make you look like you are an inconsiderate fiend without compassion for these people that destroy your private lives and businesses by looting or even lighting it on fire. They offer them temporary housing that many will not take and prefer to live outdoors. They see this as only moving the problem down the line. I have employed the homeless, they stay for a short time then quit because it too structured. They want a hand-out for free. It has become their lifestyle. I do understand the problems because it is bad here in Orange county also. I was about to get attacked by a drugged homeless man yesterday while stopped at a traffic lite. He stopped though because showed that I would fight back...like these business owners. Mahalo to them for taking charge.

      What are you even suggesting? The City doesn’t have the money to hire police to patrol the area, where is the money coming from to hire security? If the City had the money and man power, they’d have placed officers on foot patrol. But sometimes private sector has to kick in to protect their own and it’s a brave, caring, guest owner that stepped up. Good on him! He’s a hero for the vendors and customers.

      The officers have to follow the law by the tee, which gives the homeless too much rights. Private security can be like bar bouncers, rough up the homeless.

    Unfortunately, HDP doesn't pay a fair salary to live here in our home. Many qualified men and women would love to protect our communities serving as a police officer and all the hardships that come along with the title, work life balance and potential mental issues that come with the territory. They should be paid as much as nurses and then some. Make the policyholder see, make them live there. Take your pound of flesh Hawaii IMUA!
