I've never seen a team so banged up. It could be just bad luck, like the broken jaw...but the Lions need to look at their turf, at Ford Field....S&C and training methods too.
I've been saying this for weeks! It's the elephant in the room. No one is asking these questions. Why so many injuries? Is it our trainers? The turf? It's really too bad. Lions were clearly the best team in the league earlier in the season. It just sucks.
The entire team at this point has to be terrified that they are next. When you watch the entire fkng starting D and bench get put on IR, then it starts bleeding into the Offensive, they have to feel like its inevitable. Absolutely insane
We have Iffy who can come back at safty and Branch back to nickel. That leaves Mosley/Robertson to cover Davis' spot. Our main spot to address is still LB. Hopefully, we got guys coming back for that.
The Montgomery injury absolutely sucks but to be honest most teams don’t run two running backs like we do and looking at stats Gibbs is a top 5 running back only playing 50% of snaps sure he isn’t a ground and pound guy like Monty but he sure can hit a gap up the middle and pick up yards I think it will be good for Gibbs to get more snaps in these big games and really open up the type of back he is and maybe Goff will lean more on the pass game leaning on Amon ra a little more and get him cooking at the end of the season I fully believe we can still do this we still have our full O line healthy
Our offense will be fine, defense on the other hand😬. We need to get that number 1 seed to have a chance. Home field, 1st round bye are so important for us to make a run.
I really think that once Rakestraw is eligible to return they need to give him some snaps on the other side of Arnold. Rakestraw had a nickname in camp (Pickstraw) because all he did was intercept Goff. He and Moseley need chances. Vildor is not the answer. He’s awful in 1 on 1 coverage situations. He’s more of a special teams guy.
In my mind,... Rakestraw was "hidden" on the IR. AG doesn't want no rookies out there,... never wanted James Houston until Buffalo after he was already a problem. Same for Iffy last year. They hide players to protect them. Arnold being the top draft pick is the exception,... he gets the pass, but really, he SHOULD have been sat early in my mind. Tampa issues, remember the loss?
Does a coach who has 10 days to get prepared for 3 hours work, who tells us he didn't have his guys prepared for the biggest game of the year "have GRIT!!!!"????? I support the aggression on 4th. I can handle being beat by a better team. UNPREPARED? NOPE.
Guys, why are we losing faith in this Lions team!!!??? I know we all have injuries, but true fans know how strong we are as contenders and know that Lions will always find ways to win despite comebacks like defensive injuries. Also, we need to account that injuries can heal up in the span of few weeks (not a guarantee, but who knows...) I know some of us can be denial, but from the 11 winning streaks, we got this guys!!
That's easy to say but eventually, you have to be realistic. They've lost most of their defense, two more this week, and half of their running game. It's just the way it is. These back ups that have to move up, have been back ups for a reason.
@@duartecabral55 I understand your point of view regarding the defense and especially montgomery season-ending injury, but we cannot jump to conclusions before we play the Bears, 49ers, or Vikings. I will give it a week or so to see how our defense is playing and how our offense can keep up with the consistency. If we lose to the Bears or 49ers, then your point of being realistic comes to play. Good teams always overcomes hurdles and please give the Lions one more chance, it is what I need and I really appreciate if you do that!
We are finished as a true contender. We have 4 starters left on defense. No pass rush no true cover corner. McNeil not being there to clog the middle... Vildor having to play a lot. Our offense will have to score 50 per game to have a chance in the playoffs. Maybe next year.
@@chevy4x466so the bills don’t deserve to be in a super bowl either right ? Rams scored 40 points on them an so did the lions. yet both teams offenses are best in the league. lions been scoring 30+ on just about every team they play against this year as well
The Lion's situation can be summed up this way: Start with a roster with a good defense. Pick the third or fourth best lineman. Then, pick the second or third best linebacker. Start with those two. Take out a couple defensive backs. Add one good edge rusher in a trade. Then, fill in all the empty roster spots with practice squad players and give them one week to get acquainted with the schemes. That is the current state of our defense. Still, it has been and continues to be a great season. This team has a great future and lots of reason to be positive.
Before this game, I understood we could potentially lose the game but still have a high ceiling and win it all. Coming out of the game without Alim and Carlton, it's hard to believe. There's only so many shots that defense can absorb before it's just not championship caliber anymore. I'm here for the ride, but the expectations definitely took a hit.
I DONT FORGET WHAT THIS TEAM WAS LIKE 3YRS AGO. I'M PROUD OF HOW FAR WE HAVE CAME, I SAID THIS WAS GONNA BE OUR YEAR, BUT..... THIS IS TOO MANY INJURIES PEOPLE. PLEASE DEAR GOD DON'T BURN UP & BURN OUT GIBBS. I JUST WANT US ALL BACK AND HEALTHY FOR NEXT YEAR. JUST TOO MANY HURT.
Move Brandon Joseph into more time, move branch back to cb, with Arnold, then in 5/6 db situations we ran use Robertson, Mosley vildor then rakstraw* when healthy
Yes, the injuries on defence are just devastating. Every game is going to be a sling fest. It is 50/50 the rest of the season. Thank goodness they have already got a playoff berth. That Vikings game looks huge at the end but will see if they keep rolling. Moonpie
I have never in my life seen a team more battered than the Lions are right now. And it's so devastating as a lions fan because this team was destined to reach the super bowl this year and I'm not saying they can't still but I mean we have A second team defense out there right now. Pretty much and without Monty on offense. That's a huge blow.
At a certain point, you need more starters available to accomplish the ultimate goal. We have reached this point and too many starters are done for the whole season
Bills actually dominated more than the final score. We had our healthiest team out there against them for most of the game and couldn’t hang. They are now the SB favorites to win it all. We have to hope we can manage to get to SB and with Anzalone, Davis and hopefully Hutch back we can compete.
Who cares about "Super Bowl" favorites? It's just click bait to keep people interested between games. I'd rather the Lions not be SB favorites that spotlight is very distracting. But yeah these injuries are hard
The Lions have been amazing in how they've played with all the injuries. But it's getting to the point that it's hard to see how the Lions can put together a defense that can allow them to win against quality opponents. Minnesota will be the test. If we can beat the Vikings, we're still in the race.
It was a rough week for injuries. Proud of my boys for their resilience through this. Perhaps we need a new strength and conditioning team going forward through the off-season? This is wild... yes it does change the trajectory of the season unfortunately. I'm not sure if we have what it takes to make the push on defense. Vaki will be a good rb2, he's proved himself. Cant replace Davis or McNeil though, that's where we are going to get cooked.
I think we still have a chance because we have the offense to score on anyone. You can win the Super bowl with a great offense and an adequate defense.
Yes but, there are some really good defenses in the playoffs. If they hold the Lions to under 30, they wont have much of a chance. Now with Montgomery gone, it changes the offense too
Honestly...we have reached critical mass with the injuries and I don't think our defense can overcome them anymore. I would not be surprised if we didn't win another game this year. I think the injuries have derailed an amazing season and puts a super bowl appearance out of reach. Sad...
3:40 Yes. Reason is, Buffalo is a top 2 team in the league and we didn't have Anzalone, Hutch, Rakestraw, Davis, McNeill, DMo, and basically everyone else mentioned for at least half the game, if not all of it and our guys still almost got the job done, despite playing catch up all game long and being completely one dimensional on offense. So long as the defense doesn't COMPLETELY melt down again like they did against Buffalo, the offense should be good enough to bring home the Lombardi
i am not to worried about everything yet let’s just see how they do against Chicago, San Francisco and Minnesota but if we go 1-3 then yeah i’ll be in panic mode just really hope they get a lot of there defense players back. like they did go Toe to Toe with a super bowl caliber team an lost by 6 with missing 20+ players on both sides
Man, I felt the same way... It's one thing to have the injuries they had already, but with McNeill in, you still have a disruptive run stuffer and it was still tough for teams to run on them... I just don't know how they can continue to sustain these injuries and compete with the best teams in the league. Luckily, the offense is good enough to flat out beat any team in the league... but overall I agree - I think their chances have been diminished a bit.
At some point, the injuries are just too much. Its great to have the next man up mentality but, they're running out of men. The next man up can only go so far because eventually, that man is not good. You saw it vs Bufalo. If they had a healthy defense, no doubt in my mind that they win that game. With a defense like this and the loss of Montgomery, it changes everything. Whoever they bring ad the bext man up, isnt as good as Montgomery. They have to keep playing Vildor in the secondary, who probably wouldnt be playing on any other team. The way they are right now, I cant see them beating Philadelphia or even Minnesota. I'm trying to keep my hopes up but they are down to players from the special team.
I change by thoughts if Alex, Iffy, Ennis, Mosely don't come back. Pressure burst or my u a diamond 💎. I'm thinking we can survive until the playoffs. Get an extra week and get more healthy
@duartecabral55 I think Alex and Ennis will definitely be back by the last game of season. Iffy idk heard he's coming along, same with Mosely. Just praying 🙏 at this point
For additional context. In the first 6 games, Montgomery had 3 with 80+ yards. Since then he’s had 1. Since week 6-Gibbs has had 4 80+ yard games. Folks need to stop becoming emotionally attached to a guy who benefits from a terrific run blocking line.
We still hold our fate in our hands so thats good, we just need the bears to beat the Vikings tonight and that will help us out a bit with them getting a lose plus a division lose We are gunna need this defense to get back that fire they had before the bills and the offense is gunna need to get hot and stay hot for 4 quarters and put points on the board every chance In brad and mcdc we trust Lets fuckin go DETROIT
With all these legs injuries have you thought about it could be the fake grass we play on they should check in on that because it's just to many injuries
I'm 72 years old and have watched many disappointing Lions seasons. That said , these last couple of seasons have opened a new chapter in Lions history. Whatever happens , it's a fun ride.
As much as I hate this for D-Mo, the offense's final form was always going to be about Jah anyway. He's going to go down as one of the best to ever play the position, and you're going to see why these next six games when he gets 10-15 more touches a game.
I feel one more loss on the season, but not the important one. I feel we'll get the right guys back that'll keep this team at just the right amount of elite to go all the way. No denial, that's just how much I trust how well this team is run. We've been scared before in this season and did not waver. It's on.
No, not even close to being a Superbowl team now. But, we haven't been very close to being a super bowl team the prior four games either, and somehow managed to win them all. This takes us to a whole lower level though.
Of you told me this team as banged up as it is would have damn near dug it’s way out of the hole they were in at the last minutes of game and made it a one td affair .. even after 3 more players go down I’d be thrilled with the players . We were never Locks to win it all and we’re still not god damn excluded from doing so either . This team will be great for a good little while yet to come . Win or lose I’m fucking happy as can be with the lions ! One fucking pride !
Here what I’ve seen over the past 30yrs of NFL. Usually every team has a win streak and eventually a big loss. The tabs that have win streaks in the beginning slowly fade, and fall early in the playoffs. Steaks in the middle of the season usually get one or two losses at the end of the season and get to the conference championship. Teams that take a loss towards the end of the season go pretty far in the playoffs.
I still have Faith in my Detroit Lions. I feel like since they couldn't beat the Lions they decided to injure them. In my heart I feel it needs to be investigated
I'm not giving up hope, but with all these injuries to important players it is going to be very hard. If they still make it all the way to the Super Bowl, then the coaching staff deserves a lot of the credit.
The biggest thing I can say is simple. EVERY DOLLAR AND OUNCE OF EFFORT NEEDS TO GO INTO THE STRENGTH TRAINING AND RECOVERY OF THE ORGANIZATION. Go grab every top doctor and therapists money can buy and make next year the least injured team in the league. Something is clearly wrong in the building, and it’s definitely not just tough play, or this would have happened the last 3 years
We're not out yet. Vikings will be our toughest game. I think Carlton Davis was our worst loss in this last game. We have so many secondaries, and we did get a few that are plain new to the team, that the coach and players have mentioned that there have been communication problems. They need to get the new guys fully trained and dialed in. I do think Vaki can take up some slack for Montgomery. His style of running is more similar to Montgomery's. That Bills game plain looked off. We weren't ourselves. I'll always love this coach, but that onside kick cost us, and he admits that. But 6 points away with huge injuries and a bad call. Let's put away the crystal balls, stop predicting things, and let's see what happens! Good, bad, or indifferent, let's see what happens!
At this point, I'm fully convinced God hates the Lions franchise. The best chance we had to win a Super Bowl in most of our lifetimes, we were the best team in the league, the only thing that could stop us is injuries. So, guess what happened? It's unbelievable. I've got little to no confidence we can win the division anymore. Let alone make a playoff run... but believe me, I want to be dead wrong.
everyone talking about dan campbells call, We are forced to do things like that when 15 PLayers are on IR. We are playing the best football in the league with all those injuries. Josh allen just played better
No. They are no longer SB caliber. Depending on who they play first in the playoffs I think they may be one and done. I love the Lions but we can be hopeful but I’m being realistic
I dont feel like half a team will be good enough to win a Super Bowl. We are literally pulling guys off the streets and asking them to play defense in the NFL.
@@vanpearsallBest team in the league earlier in the season before all the injuries. Without question. Take half the starters off ANY nfl team and what do you have? It just sucks.
I think we will be OK. I am seeing all these articles that we should get this running back or that running back from other teams practice squads. We have Reynolds & Vaki, with them backing Gibbs, and giving him some rest, we don't need someone else's toss off's.
I'm trying to stay positive.....but this totally sux. If we were healthy we'd be the best team in the league....now, honestly, we're probably not going to win the north and we may lose in the wild card. This totally sux. If they pull this off, it'll be a miracle.
Unfortunately we were fine but my hopes are pretty much lost its a shitty feeling being a fan having the best year ever watching these Detroit lions tearing it up best lions team ever but with these injuries and honestly knowing the Super Bowl is most likely out of the question at this point. I've been saying this for weeks! It's the elephant in the room. No one is asking these questions. Why so many injuries? Is it our trainers? The turf? It's really too bad. Lions were clearly the best team in the league earlier in the season. It just sucks.
No chance to slow down any power house offense. Bills laid out the blueprint for other teams to copy. Our Offense better be on point!
Detroit Lions is still able to have a run for the Superbowl. It's going to be harder! One Pride! Nothing but love, peace, and happiness!
Everyone still has a run to the Superbowl. With half the team out, it's not possible.
I’m devastated , it’s not fair man
The entire team at this point has to be terrified that they are next.
I agree I do hope Goffs pass game continues. They are going to need it. Plus, he should be more of a mobile quarterback like Allen.
Don’t want to overutilize Gibbs and get him banged up. Reynolds and Vaki can provide snaps. Weather in Chicago won’t help keep everyone healthy.
More handoffs to Gibbs means he will be injured soon too
Hoping not. I hope he balls tf out.
@@nedkent5239
He won't get more carries, Reynolds and Vaki are very capable also.
Our offense will be fine, defense on the other hand😬. We need to get that number 1 seed to have a chance. Home field, 1st round bye are so important for us to make a run.
Ok how about we finally change the damn turf at Ford Field
They did
We need real grass
Wuh?
Replace? It’s a cost saver. Folks grow tons of weed inside but the Fords can’t grow grass?
Bad injuries happen on every surface, it's not the turf.
jeez these injuries are brutal holyyyyy
I really think that once Rakestraw is eligible to return they need to give him some snaps on the other side of Arnold. Rakestraw had a nickname in camp (Pickstraw) because all he did was intercept Goff. He and Moseley need chances. Vildor is not the answer. He’s awful in 1 on 1 coverage situations. He’s more of a special teams guy.
100%. Love vildor on ST. I'd take Jamo at CB before him though. Sorry dude. That helmet bounce still kills me
@ I would too.
@@dougmichaelroossien9115 I'd take a rookie, struggling rakestraw over vildor in coverage. All day every day
@ definitely agree.
Don't forget we still have GRIT!!!!!
We also have too many top paid players watching the game instead of playing the game. Its over this year.
@@jbrinkley9-t1r Oh I'm sorry you are oblivious to what GRIT IS!
Does a coach who has 10 days to get prepared for 3 hours work, who tells us he didn't have his guys prepared for the biggest game of the year "have GRIT!!!!"????? I support the aggression on 4th. I can handle being beat by a better team. UNPREPARED? NOPE.
Yeah,we had grit vs Buffalo. Talent will always win.
Nailed it. Down to 3rd level players.
Don't forget Reader is still hurt.
oh ye of little faith
Lol make sure you don't watch anymore games then
Season is done. Some of these injuries will even carry over into next year. And we likely lose both our coordinators. Done. Was fun while it lasted.
COOKED....INTO NEXT YEAR
Super Bowl teams don’t give up 30 points every week
@@chevy4x466so the bills don’t deserve to be in a super bowl either right ? Rams scored 40 points on them an so did the lions. yet both teams offenses are best in the league. lions been scoring 30+ on just about every team they play against this year as well
@@chevy4x466These Superbowl teams been trash these pass years..yea KC is overrated trash lol
@ the nfl is rigged bull *****. If Taylor swift was at ford field we would win super bowls
@@decoding_the_truth33yes but the AFC is MUCH easier to get there than the NFC.
The Lion's situation can be summed up this way:
Start with a roster with a good defense.
This is a good solution honestly I like that
Yes, the injuries on defence are just devastating. Every game is going to be a sling fest. It is 50/50 the rest of the season. Thank goodness they have already got a playoff berth. That Vikings game looks huge at the end but will see if they keep rolling.
Moonpie
We still gone pull it off I'm not sorry bout the loss it was a tuff game we areaking it up doing it for hutch n dmo
This team is resilient if nothing else
Nobody left to be resilient. Down to 3rd level players.
@dace938 the key word is team, as in 3rd string included
At a certain point, you need more starters available to accomplish the ultimate goal. We have reached this point and too many starters are done for the whole season
@robe9075 team, key word team
This is the Lions curse. They FINALLY have a Superbowl team and the only thing that could stop them are injuries.
Bills actually dominated more than the final score. We had our healthiest team out there against them for most of the game and couldn’t hang. They are now the SB favorites to win it all. We have to hope we can manage to get to SB and with Anzalone, Davis and hopefully Hutch back we can compete.
Both teams ain’t winning a Super Bowl with those defenses.
We control our own destiny, period.
Maybe put Sorsdal at RT for goal line sets... Sewell at HB or FB?
I kept saying the Davenport signing would haunt us. We had 25+ million left at the trade deadline, and came out with only 1 player.
I will never understand that first onside kick
I think we're good bro.
Back to the ALL GRIT mentality . Next man up, we still have a chance. It’ll be tough but that’s football
I think we still have a chance because we have the offense to score on anyone. You can win the Super bowl with a great offense and an adequate defense.
Yes but, there are some really good defenses in the playoffs. If they hold the Lions to under 30, they wont have much of a chance. Now with Montgomery gone, it changes the offense too
You know what I'm in my 70s I'm used to these lions you know some things never change feel bad for these players
Season is DONE. This team won win the division, have a 0% chance of winning the NFC. It’s heart breaking because they deserved so much better.
Dumb question of the week if we could switch the field to grass or something better would that cut down on the injuries???
We still have a Super Bowl offense, a play-off team Special Teams, and a practice squad defense.
We are going to see what our backup RBs can do. Hopefully they learned something from DMo.
Honestly...we have reached critical mass with the injuries and I don't think our defense can overcome them anymore. I would not be surprised if we didn't win another game this year. I think the injuries have derailed an amazing season and puts a super bowl appearance out of reach. Sad...
Mosley was brought back for a reason he can ball
3:40
Yes.
With this offense, they can beat Chicago and San Francisco. Don't think they will beat Minnesota.
LaPorta will step up we'll be good 🏆 🦁
At some point, the injuries are just too much.
You only get an extra week if you get the number one spot. Don't see that happening .
@duartecabral55 I think Alex and Ennis will definitely be back by the last game of season. Iffy idk heard he's coming along, same with Mosely. Just praying 🙏 at this point
Why so many injuries, are they not condition right?
For additional context. In the first 6 games, Montgomery had 3 with 80+ yards.
Since then he’s had 1.
Since week 6-Gibbs has had 4 80+ yard games. Folks need to stop becoming emotionally attached to a guy who benefits from a terrific run blocking line.
Let's just get healthy and go from there 😩
I don't feel like the Super Bowl is a realistic expectation...too many injuries. Better question...Will they win 1 playoff game?
I have a feeling Lions will activate Emmanuel Mosley against the 49ers 😳👀👀
Offense gonna have to explode
We still hold our fate in our hands so thats good, we just need the bears to beat the Vikings tonight and that will help us out a bit with them getting a lose plus a division lose
We are gunna need this defense to get back that fire they had before the bills and the offense is gunna need to get hot and stay hot for 4 quarters and put points on the board every chance
In brad and mcdc we trust
Lets fuckin go DETROIT
Wasn't OBJ sniffing around about coming here? I am typing as I'm listening so....... You might talk about it later in the video?
I think we going to be ok we put up 42 points it's the year to make history
You can wake up from the dream anytime
We’re so cursed it’s ridiculous. Next man up from Home Depot and Lowe’s on defense, vaki and Reynolds at rb
I really thought the Lions turned a corner from their past. But it seems the curse is real.
The defense is scaring me man and Montgomery's injury has me sick
Not gonna lie. This is getting ridiculous now. I know we’re good but come on now smh. How many hits can you take
If I were any other team in the league, I'd be hoping, like hell, to play the Lions in the 1st round.
Feel the same. It's just devastating. Lions fans had a real taste of success. A winning team. But this is just too much. The curse is real.
lions gotta lock in
With these injuries im not confident that we win the division nvm the SB
everyone talking about dan campbells call, We are forced to do things like that when 15 PLayers are on IR. We are playing the best football in the league with all those injuries. Josh allen just played better
Mosley needs to play period, he’s healthy and needs to play one game for us, like bro let’s go, iffy too, dude was solid last year, cmon
It was a great run for Detroit, but its over ....
I don’t see them making the SB with this defense. Just too many injuries.
The lions will recover, too much heart on this team...I still have the lions winning it all!
Who even said they were going to the Super Bowl?
@@vanpearsallBest team in the league earlier in the season before all the injuries. Without question. Take half the starters off ANY nfl team and what do you have? It just sucks.
I think we will be OK. I am seeing all these articles that we should get this running back or that running back from other teams practice squads. We have Reynolds & Vaki, with them backing Gibbs, and giving him some rest, we don't need someone else's toss off's.
we'll be seeing a lot more of LaPorta
The hell are they feeding these guys....cmon here
Dude, we might not win the division, forget about the SB.
If we were healthy no one would be beating us and it is kind of a fact at this point winning 11 straight even with the injuries we had but adding to it not much hope left if any 😭😭😭😭
Gonna have to score 50+ points to stay in this thing, I'm afraid!
