And carjacking with intent to harm, or whatever the Canadian equivalent is. Nothing about the officers actions was lawful.
The jury not believing the cops stories doesn't equate them to be lying. Proving the cops are lying is a completely different matter.

By the not-guilty verdict, the jury is saying that it was those three Police officer's fault. They are saying that those three Police officers used very bad judgment. Unfortunately, they have to live with what happened.

A non-guilty verdict doesn’t change the corruption in the police system. We require the 3 police personals to be investigated for malpractice.
Umar is very fortunate he has such good lawyers that worked hard for him . Many people are wrongly convicted. Such a shame for the loss of a policeman's life .

the moment i heard about this case, i already can tell the cops involved seemed so shady with everything. Like honeslty dude with his family and they make it seem like he intended to kill the guy. I've experienced too many incidents with plane clothes cops who think they can pull any shit they want and think they can get away with things thank god this time these dumb cops got caught with their bs.
If I was confronted in an underground garage, with my family in the car, by a bunch of people yelling and banging on my roof, I would have done exactly what this man did. The police obviously decided to take revenge for the death of their colleague, and colluded on their version of events. A stupid mistake on the part of the police which will impact this mans life forever.
In my opinion, it is a sad case for everyone involved.
A win for Canada! A win for the people! The police and crown should face repercussions.. I knew he was innocent the second I read about this case ... And then he got bail out of nowhere .. and that was the beginning of the end for the case ... Should never have gone to trial.. mr. Zameer is owed years of his life and a shit ton of money for what these corrupt cops did!
So happy for Zameer and his family. His defence did a fantastic job and they saw what all the Canadians watching believed and it was a great decision by the jury. He is an innocent man and the verdict was right.

Looking for a suspect that matched his description. Ran up to a vehicle like a bunch of vigilanties with a badge. Saw that he was in the car with his pregnant wife and elderly person. Did not think "what would a stabbing suspect would be doing in a car with his family". Thank God for video cameras and expert witness and an honourable judge. Hats off to the Jury. Imagine how many times this has happened before, but the unlucky person did not have those things going for them.
I like the fact from the beginning his lawyer told him he wont leave him alone as a innocent man.

I was detained by an off-duty (plain clothes) officer a few mos back and I was scared for my life. I was so happy to see uniform police when they arrived. I thought I was getting car jacked. Something needs to change. This poor family and the family of the victim 🙏

Canadian police is absolutely amazing. Mistakes happen and they made a mistake about the man’s identity and something tragic happened. It’s no once mistake. It happens. It’s sad either way u look at it.
There should be perjury charges, and even assault charges when Zameer was punched by one of the officers during the course of the arrest.
The videos from the media, this man was clearly telling the truth. Cops should have known better when they are in plain clothes. Terrible that a cop lost his life, just shows, more training is needed when cops are not in uniform.
Toronto Police should need more than Grade 12 education to become a police officer who makes over 100k 👍
Correction: you need at least 4 years of college. Also most cops do not make 6 figures unless they are veterans.

Hopefully police learn to wear a proper uniform or call for proper uniformed officer in these circumstances. No way he would know that was a police officer and without proper uniforms anyone would have made that mistake. That could have been anyone and they tried to railroad this man to prison. I beleave this was the right verdict, this case should be a lesson to any police force in Canada. There were a lot of mistakes made by those undercover officers. And as a result one of their officers paid the price of dying. My condolences to that officers family, this is a sad day once again for them, but justice was done right for this man who lost 3 years of his life going through all that he was accused of.
