    This movie is fun when it’s doing classic Scooby physical slapstick gags, and the old school sound effects are nice, but the modern references and gags are all super cringeworthy, and the voice cast was a mistake.

      @PIB2000 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The outdated references could have strangely worked if the plot had Mystery Inc being considered "out of date" and not as trendy.

      How was it a mistake? Explain it to me I thought it was good movie btw 8/10

      TheSpeedfoever well for one it was a dick move to not even CONSIDER the usual voice cast for the movie when they all wanted to reprise their roles and had to find out second hand the movie was even happening. Two, with the exception of Forte as Shaggy, they’re just poor choices who don’t lend the right character to the voices.

      @@ThePonderer Zac Efron ironically doesn't sound too bad. He's got nothing on Frank obviously, and I'm glad they at least kept him as Scooby because I likely would have avoided this movie if they didn't, but he kind of sounds like an aged up version of the Fred from A Pup Named Scooby-Doo. Everyone else though, doesn't even attempt to bring the characters to life or mimic their unique characteristics and just use their normal voices. It honestly really sucks that Ken Jeong didnt try to replicate Dynomutt's vocals and it honestly scares me to think they might have considered getting someone that isn't Frank Welker or another legacy voice actor to play Scooby-Doo.

    My three go-to Scooby-Doos are the following:
    - Where Are You?/New Scooby-Doo Movies for fun/camp.
    - A Pup Named Scooby-Doo for Spielberg toons roots, songs and meta jokes.
    - Mystery Incorporated for atmosphere, character and super hip references.

    (since you used the word "meddling" twice in this video)
    The movie could've been a lot better if it weren't for those meddling executives!

    I haven't watched the movie yet, but it's sad that the movie is getting mixed reviews. I was kinda hoping that this would be the next The Lego Movie. Where they take a nostalgic property, and do it with clever and excellent writing and everyone loves it, but maybe my expectations were too high
    Like i said, i haven't watched the movie yet, maybe i will love it, since i am a Scooby-Doo fan, but i think i can already tell by the reviews i've seen, that it could have been better

    I’m 100% open for the Hanna-Barbera cinematic universe, but it’s meh movie trying to be modern
    If they write it down like the regular show or like venture bro’s I would love it

    If you want a better Scooby-Doo/superhero crossover with better humor and equal mix of action and mystery, watch the Scooby-Doo & Batman: The Brave and the Bold direct-to-video movie.
    If you want a better Hannah-Barbera crossover, either watch the Mystery Incorporated episode "Mystery Solvers Club State Finals" or read the “Future Quest” comic series from DC.

      I also recommend the Scooby Doo: Mask Of The Blue Falcon movie . It goes into its own direction yet still shows the best of both worlds.

    The animation is pretty great in general. Too many references that are already very dated. Clear love letter to Hanna Barbera.

    I was glad that we got a crossover verse concept. We got a mid credit reset up such as captain caveman leading an animal fanstastic four team and us seeing Dr. Quest acting as a Q/Nick Fury .

  • @BlythePennyBicycle21

    The movie is directed by Tony Cervone, who's worked on many Hanna Barbera and Looney Tunes projects. Notably, he co-created Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated and worked on many of the DVD movies from the first half of the 2010s.

      Which honestly makes me a bit more disappointed, the guy's a veteran with these properties and this is the first made for theaters Scooby-Doo movie since 2004, and it doesn't even feel like one in some regards.
      The original concept with them joining a mystery solving organization was much better and I feel like it could have been used to incorporate a lot of the Scooby "clones" that were made like Jabberjaw, Speed Buggy, Captain Caveman, etc.

    • @BlythePennyBicycle21
      @BlythePennyBicycle21 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is a movie based on the Scooby Doo franchise, and not a specific series. Theatrical movies based on a franchise (such as The Lego Batman Movie) use celebrities since it's not based on a specific show. In contrast, movies like Batman Mask Of The Phantasm and the SpongeBob movies are based on a specific TV show, and thus use the regular voice cast. If SCOOB was actually based on a tv show (like Mystery Incorporated), then you get the regular voice actors .

    • @LeopoldLitchenstein
      @LeopoldLitchenstein 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BlythePennyBicycle21 While that is true, I also feel like it's dumb reasoning on their part.
      The movie's already gained some controversy and lost support from many people because they didn't use the current cast, so the studio basically wasted money on celebrities and possibly burned some bridges with the current voices when it would have been easier and maybe even cheaper to use the cast they had.
      Even worse when you hear Frank as Scooby but NOT Fred, or Dynomutt, which means the characters sound jarringly off in comparison to how most people know they sound. Some of them don't even attempt to mimic the voices of their characters that gave them some personality and they just sound like regular people.

    • @BlythePennyBicycle21

      @@LeopoldLitchenstein This reminds me of the casting of the 2011 Winnie The Pooh movie. The only regular Winnie The Pooh voice actors to return to their roles were Jim Cummings as Pooh & Tigger and Travis Oates as Piglet. Outside of Tom Kenny as Rabbit, none of the new voices were that well received.

    • @LeopoldLitchenstein
      @LeopoldLitchenstein 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BlythePennyBicycle21 I haven't seen that movie, but I feel like if the updated cast members for it at least tried to imitate past voices for the characters, it wouldn't be as bad or noticeable (though hearing Peter Cullen isn't Eeyore anymore saddens me a bit). Not much of the cast for SCOOB does that except for Will Forte (who sounds off, but at least he tried), maybe Tracy Morgan as Captain Caveman, and Jason Isaacs as Dick Dastardly who did a great job even if he doesn't sound much like the original voice.

    Sucks that this movie turned out to be such a disappointment because I was really looking forward to it. I do think Dick Dastardly is a pretty decent character and was probably the best part of the movie. I’m conflicted on the animation. I think it compliments the more exaggerated characters like Scooby, Shaggy, and Dick. When looking at the other characters, however, it feels rather generic, especially with Fred. The worst parts are the dialogue. It feels like it’s trying way too hard to be hip and trendy to modern culture with lazy meta humor, product placements, and an honest-to-God scene when one of characters actually says, “Toxic Masculinity” unironically. I no doubt believe that the first two live-action movies are better representations of Scooby-Doo than this movie. Hell! I think Be Cool! Scooby-Doo is better than this movie, at least that show had actual witty humor.

    Scooby and Shaggy's conflict was VEEEEERY VERY forced. All of Shaggy's talk about friendship was INCREDIBLY corny, and the comedy was incredibly weak. Not a fan of this movie. I'm disappointed because this shared universe sounds like a cool idea!
