Guys quit hating on Arnel, Steve has said he is on Arnel's side and doesnt want to try to unseat him or appear to. He decided to not perform. In addition, Steve has done pretty well for himself. Bands break up its part of the music business. Cool that this song still rocks 40+ years later.
Arnell is turning 57 in 2024. He brought Journey back to life. I'm an 80s girl and have followed Journey for decades. Good for them. I just wished they would have done the European leg of their tour. Too much infighting.
I wish they had included Arnel in the induction...He sings his heart out with every performance...he is a more than worthy band mate...Hats off to ya man and all the guys who this music possible...Ty

Such a shame Steve Perry and the others couldn’t have put their differences aside to have performed together for their induction. They’re all talented musicians, I have no reason to believe they couldn’t have lowered the key to accommodate changes in vocal range.
Maybe he didn’t want to be a shadow over Arnell which I can respect. It’s his show now. For Arnell to still sing though not inducted says a lot about his character!

Steve Perry is an amazing singer with a vocal range that is hard to attain, but Arnel is right there! I think it was wrong of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame to snub Arnel by not including him as a member of the band. Arnel has been with Journey for 17 years! He deserves recognition and induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!
For all of you who don't watch the full award video, Steve was there, and he let arnel sing the part,ok now, that's from Steve's permission, so just chill and listen the art of music
why some people are still hurt.. broken heart of what thus Arnel.Pineda did in this band..remember he is not the one search.. they found him and give a chance then he prove it to all of us he can do it.. now did Arnel complain or other fans like me..that suppose to be his also on that award..because as we know he's more longer in the.bamd as a lead volcalist of this band... if you want steve perry to sing that song on that kind of level why don't you.(fans of steve perry) do some ways to tell in the band journey that let steve perry sing on the stage.. sorry for this words.. but not only the feelings of me as a fans of Arnel being hurt..but other fans too especialy on us as a Filipino.. now..hopefully years come and steve perry will cime bck to this band.. because as always Arnel Pineda was accepting the moment that he will give the stage to.his idol steve perry..
Yzcel Taguiam All I was simply asking was why didn't Steve Perry sing the song? 1) Was it because of a historical beef with the band or 2) Maybe he just can't hit the range(s) like he once did? Don't get bent all out of shape. Arnel has done an excellent job replacing Steve. It happens all the in the music industry where there are the original members, who, for sentimental reasons, fans would like to see just for that one last time see the original band perform together. Especially at the R&R Hall of Fame. Heck, I would've loved to see the JACKSON 5, The Temptations, and Supremes perform together, one last time. Unfortunately, EGOS get in the way. It is only in death when true reality sets in. Wish they (Steve & Arnel) would've at least performed the song together. Simply PUT, LOST OPPORTUNITY!
@@TouchedByTruth sorry for this conversation..but then you answer your on questions..as you see Arnel Pineda already 53 yrs old on this event and glad that stil giving his best to performed..so please stop complaining or comparing them who's best..we just enjoy their tribute to this group..✌✌✌

Congratulations Journey! Rock and Roll Hall of from is a long time coming! True classic rock sound of my youth and still worthy of listening to. Saw Journey live three times in Long Beach, California in the 1980’s. They were so good I went twice by myself! Nothing like Steve Perry voice singing their lyrics. Honestly if your being put into the Rock of Frame you should be the one singing your hit songs, because you made them a hit. It would be different if Steve had passed away. For me this is. Rey disrespectful. Yes, Arielle can sing but a fan can hear the differences in their voices.
Arnel is the best and the nearest to Steve's voice you can find. Never got to see them in the 80's has as a teen. But did see them with Arnel soon after he joined. Just find it Very strange that Steve did not perform at the most important moment of journeys career! Dissapointing
I can only imagine the insecurity and ineptness that Arnel felt during this event. He knew that the crowd wanted to see and have been longing to hear SP. That the crowd was there expecting SP to sing. But then he had to come out and perform in front of SP fans instead. Yikes. Tough to sing in front of a disappointed crowd. But he pulled through it and did great. What a pro.
ok, lets compare Steve Perry now to 52 y/o Arne.....Oh yeah there is no comparison. Just listen to Traces. Arnel never was, is not, and never ever will be even close to the singer Steve Perry is.
Oh cmon guys! You just cant accept the fact that Arnel is still so Good with his voice at he’s age. What if Arnel was the first singer? Then all you say is The other way? Lols. What a bunch of none sense. Stop comparing them. They are both Good singers and thats it! 💪💪💪 And its more lively when Arnel Performs! 👌👌👌

I love Arnel - but THAT NIGHT - why was he up there when Steve Perry was there ! ?

All these years after would hope he would return before it was too late. Even though I never seen the band live Arnel has range like Steve and does the songs justice for sure. Wish Steve could have sang.
I felt bad for Arnel here as you can tell his voice was strained and NOT what it used to be. You know he would have loved nothing better than to have the chords he had in the beginning of his tenure with Journey ESPECIALLY with Steve Perry in the crowd, assuming he stuck around 🤔All u need to do is go listen to him on earlier videos with Journey and you'll see what I mean. There is only one Steve Perry, but Arnel Pineda relives the music of Journey sans Steve Perry. Hence, Journey has been immortal with its music. I hope they won't stop their journey to provide music to the world.
We are proud to-be a Filipino because of Arnel Pineda because of him the journey still alive ..
You can hear how much efford goes into singing this song and still Arnel nails it.......Really dont stop believing
He did not nail it. Not even close.

What a magnificent voice with longevity
50 years of age but still awesome and great. I love you Kuya Arnel.
Its a great honor to arnel that Steve is watching him Live ❤️
Steve Perry may have started the legend but I got to tell you arnel has stepped up and keeps it going these guys is nothing that can stop them they're just getting better and better each year cuz you never know what they're going to come up with
well said. Great comment not sure of some idiots here.
Best Journey cover band out there.
0:54 that is so cool! Neal just so happens to be standing in front of his picture. So nostalgic!
Man did Arnel deliver and revive this band to lead them onward and eventually to where they became inducted among the other all time great musicians. As much as I do love Perrys voice, Ive also come to love Arnel as well. It sucks only being 18 because I never got to see Perry, but the legacy lives on through Arnel now
TBH & To be blunt.. Arnel had put the Band back where everyone wannabe.. Earnin some Dough on the road .. Some guys have been filling Steve's shoes the last decades
@Wayne Halliday oh piss off! Steve was no longer in the band his the orig. Singer we get it. But in reality he just a former member and there a new member thats Arnel and infact they made an album 2008 revalation and guess what whos the singer Arnel not THE FORMER member but the new one. Thats life accept it like we accept that steve was the orig singer. Stop hatin that dude touring and singing his ass off for more than dacade nonstop.
I saw Journey live last night and Arnel really puts his heart into it.
Leave Steve alone! He is very Happy where he is in his life.Still can sing too. Traces is AMAZING!
Arnel....God bless your heart....we love you!!!!thank you Steve Perry for acknowledging Arnel...God Bless you...
😲 Idol jp
I’d pay to see these guys again, Love Journey from yesterday years and today.

I’m the biggest Steve Perry fan in the world, but have to give credit to Arnel.. his voice is amazing
you are being overly polite.

How many concerts of Journey have you been to?!

Dude, SMH,
How can you deny arnel stepped in big shoes and is filling them nicely, he has a fantastic voice and sings journey songs with respect, he does the songs the way they're supposed to be sung, he doesn't change them to fit his ego, he sings them great
Journey had a string of hits that could encircle the earth
Steve Perry made journey. Journey makes Arnel. It's been a real journey..
Great line 👊🏼
That was nice. 💪🏻
Steve didn't made Jouney lol

Great statement! But let's add: Arnel Pineda saved Journey
Give credit where its due. Arnel saved journey from being a forgotten band without perry. Arnel is around 50 by this time and a 50 yrs old perry cannot sing good at this age. Give arnel his credit since he joined journey. Lets accept the fact that he made journey famous again.
Monstrous talent for sure.
Agree!!
AMEN. Love Arnel
@@mr.stauffersnaturechannel: Exactly. Most of the songs that Journey performs live were mainly written by Perry. IMO, Journey doesn't become what they did without Perry.
He’s amazing. But I disagree. No one would have forgotten Journey. Or this song.
Qué gran banda!...qué difícil es no ver este tipo de bandas actualmente...
Arnell is 2 years older than me and I'm 53. , and Arnell looks younger than me ,
With all that he had to go through to get where he is now , and there was a lot of hell He faced growing up , I'm amazed he looks younger than me like he does ,
He deserves a success he has , it was awesome seeing the story
Thanks to all of your good comments, I love you all you are such good critics and really know what singing is. Filipino or not, the group knows how to make their choice. Journey is journey no more no less.
SUPER disappointed that Steve didn't perform with them on such a special night! I truly would've been in tears if he did! 😞😞😞💖💖💖
He cant sing like he used to tho
@@fernandreirosello920 Well after all those years of belting out those difficult songs, I'm sure it took a toll on his vocal chords. But a voice like his will forever be timeless. I would've love to see him perform again!
Arnel did great.he deserves to be the main vocalist
@@fernandreirosello920 yes, he can 😂
@@jigzc9029 He is only the main vocalist cause Steve Perry doesn't want to be. 😂😂
It’s not easy to hit the high notes but he did…I doubt if SP can still nail those high notes…but it’s all about the music of course…rock on!🇵🇭
lol
I wish so much Steve Perry had performed for this … miss him. He is irreplaceable. ❤ it has never been the same… no matter how good … it’s never good enough without Steve. 💔
proud to be Filipino with that great talent of Ariel Pineda lead the journey to be on top again
Thank you 🙏 Journey for your support
Thank you 🙏 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
The rest of journey member did not not recognize Arnel as even a little respect....salute to Steve he recognized Arnel as key of journey now...
Not true. They discovered arnel in the first place
M. Makata, Steve Smith mentioned Arnel. I think the group already planned their short speeches of who's- whom to mention besides each own family.
Journey is ALIVE wow proud pilipino here👍🇵🇭
Guys quit hating on Arnel, Steve has said he is on Arnel's side and doesnt want to try to unseat him or appear to.

Amazing.. great replacement and a great voice .. I love journey
From Brazil I love rock
that was incredible! what a performace for the ages
SO happy Arnel killed it here ...he deserves the best !

Livin' in a lonely world
She took the midnight train going anywhere
Just a city boy
Born and raised in South Detroit
He took the midnight train going anywhere
A singer in a smokey room
A smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on and on and on
Strangers waitin'
Up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searchin' in the night
Streetlights, people
Livin' just to find emotion
Hidin', somewhere in the night
Workin' hard to get my fill
Everybody wants a thrill
Payin' anything to roll the dice
Just one more time
Some'll win, some will lose
Some are born to sing the blues
Whoa, the movie never ends
It goes on and on and on and on
Strangers waitin'
Up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searchin' in the night

Steve Perry is an amazing singer with a vocal range that is hard to attain, but Arnel is right there! I think it was wrong of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame to snub Arnel by not including him as a member of the band. Arnel has been with Journey for 17 years! He deserves recognition and induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!
Not just Arnel, but Deen as well, even though he was getting his head on straight at this time.
it's not the band Journey but its Arnel that i love❤whatever song he sing i love them all🥰
AMAZING♥️!
Damn he shredded that guitar 🎸 like time never passed ❤🥰💖❤️💙💜💫✌️
For all of you who don't watch the full award video, Steve was there, and he let arnel sing the part,ok now, that's from Steve's permission, so just chill and listen the art of music
Thanks for the explanation. Serious question, Is/was there some kind of beef between Steve and the band or is Steve's voice gone? Very curious.
why some people are still hurt.. broken heart of what thus Arnel.Pineda did in this band..remember he is not the one search..
they found him and give a chance then he prove it to all of us he can do it..
now did Arnel complain or other fans like me..that suppose to be his also on that award..because as we know he's more longer in the.bamd as a lead volcalist of this band...
if you want steve perry to sing that song on that kind of level why don't you.(fans of steve perry) do some ways to tell in the band journey that let steve perry sing on the stage..
sorry for this words..
but not only the feelings of me as a fans of Arnel being hurt..but other fans too especialy on us as a Filipino..
now..hopefully years come and steve perry will cime bck to this band..
because as always Arnel Pineda was accepting the moment that he will give the stage to.his idol steve perry..
Simply PUT, LOST OPPORTUNITY!

sorry for this conversation..but then you answer your on questions..as you see Arnel Pineda already 53 yrs old on this event and glad that stil giving his best to performed..so please stop complaining or comparing them who's best..we just enjoy their tribute to this group..✌✌✌
Yzcel Taguiam Dude! What the hell are you talking about? Can you not read or comprehend what I was writing? Apparently not! Do yourself a favor....Carefully read what I wrote. I asked a simple question and you act or sound like no one comment on Steve Perry and are bashing Arnel. No actually sound pretty pathetic, Arnel's mother, or a serious groupie.
Al Pacino is killing it on guitar! Love the suit too!

What a pro.
Amazing! 👏 👏 👏
Great performance!
People don't realize Arnel is already 52yrs~Don't compare this old Arnel to young Steve Perry.
Yup! So agreed! But its hard to accept that theres alot of stupid people in the world.👌👌👌

And its more lively when Arnel Performs! 👌👌👌
Go watch the video of Separate Ways.... you can't be seriously be putting Steve Perry and Arnel in the same league. a lot of people arguing..
who is better..
journey is a band..
steve perry waa the first lead vocalist..
yrs passed..he decided to leave the band..
yrs passes many of vocalist joined ..and to be continue being alive of the band..and here is Arnel Pineda..as we all know when he start his journey as a lead vocalist at this Band Journey many of us amazed in his performance..in some ways in his youngest age he got the Steve Perry's way..we are just be thankful for what we seen what we heared from this kind of music..❤❤❤

Love love 2021 Arnel and the band
And most of them didn't even acknowledge Arnel in their speeches. Kudos to SP
I remember becoming a fan of Journey in 2015 and just in Awe of Steve Perry's voice. I would then find out he didn't sing for them no more and of course did research.
I mean he still sound pretty good. We LOVE YOU Arnel 😉
Agree. How I wish they were inducted during his prime. For sure people will be in awe.
