This is so kind!! We are trying to make them atleast 10mins but don’t wanna leave in boring stuff 😂😂 If there is anything you want to see left in let us know 😉
What a shame the weather wasn’t the best but at least you got to see a bit. Aren’t you glad someone bought you both nice warm jackets for your travels. There’s a cube house down at Victor Harbour but unfortunately it’s not as exciting as that one. Looked like a fun day. Stay safe, miss you both, love you.xx mum 🌷
'That' statue according to the artist is actually a father Christmas with a small tree. Didn't stop a bunch of (If I remember correctly) students to add a giant condom as a prank once. Further down that street is also a small bronze statue of a dog to which a broze turd was later added. Ah, Rotterdam sense of humor eh... 😉
@@JordanandEmily They have, yes. I live in the town next door (Schiedam) and visit Rotterdam often. Some of the places you visited have unofficial nicknames as well. Markthall is also called 'Groentengrot' ('vegetable cave'), the Erasmusbridge is sometimes called 'Valse Harp' ('false harp' - after it opened the cables would vibrate in certain wind gales, making them 'sing') en the 'Beurstraverse' (that lower shopping street in the center) has the nickname 'Koopgoot' ('shopping sewer'). Though according to the 1998 Jacky Chan film 'Who Am I' - partly filmed in Rotterdam - this traverse is in Johannesburg, South Africa...🤨
I know what you are doing is like the Americans do, go to all the places fast most tourists go to. Mostly because of well you need to think of the money you are spending everywhere. Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Haarlem all touristy places, nothing wrong with that. We have lots of American expats working and living here ne couple from Texas. They tought The Netherlands is even smaller than Texas, so they tought they would seen it all in no time. Now they say they will need years to see everything there is to see here. If I win the loterry I would go to lots of countries and take my time to see everything, but like with most people money is an issue travelling. I did a road trip of 5000 miles through the US, nice countryside, but everywhere people speak English and everywhere you have the same restaurants. It is different than travelling through Europe with different cultures, languages, customs and different food.
@@JordanandEmily I know I did the same in Australia, New Zealand and America. An English man told me to set up a travel guide business for the non touristy places in the Netherlands for people with more money. You missed what every Dutch person will tell you to go. The Efteling, it was voted best themed themepark in the world and is twice the size of Disney in Paris. It is a huge forest with two lakes and there happens to be a themepark in., one las has little boats you can sit in which are pulled forward automatically. The other lake has the third biggest fountain show in the world. Americans call Efteling the darker version of Disney ! P.s. Australia has a food cart with stroopwafels, dont know which city tough, but it is on TH-cam.
@@2012inca oh wow!! that sounds so cool. Could definitely be a great business idea - its can be so hard to know about the less touristy places until you are there and speaking with the locals!
@@JordanandEmily Yes for example I live in a small town in the Netherlands called Lisse with 22.000 people, but in spring we are famous. We have the biggest flower garden in the world called Keukenhof located in a forest, with 1.6 million people visiting in 6 weeks from all over the world. There is a Castle too on the other side of the road and another forest. There is Castlefest too a Fantasy music festival from the middle ages with bands playing hardcore medieval music. At the castlle grounds people dress up as knights, ferries, Harry Potter, withches and many invent their own fantasy characters and clothing. Poeple from 42 countries fly in and come party here and some camp out or stay in hotels, so probably a few hardcore Austrlians as well as it is in summer vacation.. It lasts 3 days and we have witches, knights, Harry Potter doing the shopping in our super markets and roaming our streets. It is somewhat like comic con, but without the super heros like superman, batman altough they would be welcome too. With 42.500 people it is huge castle party. P.s. The Efteling themepark was built before Disney existed and before many other themeparks in the world, it is really mesmerizing park they emphasize very much on theming. Even their ATM was themed as a big safe. And they have big toy donkey that lifts up it tail to poop fake golden Efeling coins for people and kids to catch as a game and as a token to remember Efteling by. Also the recycle bins say papier hier which means paper here and suck in the plastic, tins everything waste, so kids go crazy collecting waste to throw it in the talking bin, it is always super clean in the park. They have a big fairytale forest with all the fairytales in real life with moving puppets animatronics, also a huge puppet with the longest neck in the world that goes up and down,, a real life size talking tree, magically dancing shoes and lots or rollercoasters and cool indoor rides. Dutch people get offended when Americans call it the Dutch Disney, because well Disney didnt exist when Efteling was created but it secretly it really is the darker version of Disney. The Dutch dont sugar coat things like Disney does. If you go back to Australia without having been to The Efteling to Dutch people that is unheard of. It is like going to Sydney without having seen the Sydney bridge and opera house. We all know Australians are heavy into opera lol
@@JordanandEmily Yes. I grew up in Rotterdam. In the daytime its all nice but at night its a different story. Glad you had a good time and thank you for the very nice video!
That's quite an exaggeration. It's a place with nightlife, and a fair amount of drunkenness. But not particularly "mean", unless you mean some darker allies around it?
@@79Daver Rotterdam has changed a lot and got a lot safer, just like all Dutch cities actually. Witte de Withstraat is very lively at night and safe. Bars in different styles, I like it!
05:39 andddddd what kind of language do theys peak in the Flemish part girl ? Yeah that would be Dutch so take a WILD guess how fries are called in Dutch, we took the word from the Spanish word : patatas wich means potato and ripped the s from it so you are left with patat, Or the Spanish took the word patat and pasted an s to it .... who knows..... so Frites is more a frenchy way of saying patat, as you know Belgium also has a French speaking part oh mennnn do you tourists even care about the country you visit or just not so much ? Guess not right I can always tell wich tourists I want in my country and wich can stay home the ones who are NOT interested in language are the ones that can stay home it is the FIRST indication of no respect ! So tricky to find a good blend of hitting all the amazing touristy spots and having time/money to see the awesome smaller more local places as well! 😅
