Yes girl! I’ve been feeling so overwhelmed with material things lately that I’ve de cluttered my closet at least 4 times since summer. My makeup as well and the kitchen is next!
Summary of this video 1. Make wishlists 2. Make room for the new 3. Check your collection 4. Don’t fall for it 5. Make it difficult 6. Know the difference *might have missed smth hehe
Absolutely love, and agree, with everything you said! Especially about forced consumerism & how the influencer industry is now. Btw, love your videos & aesthetic ❤
I really enjoyed this topic because I can relate to it. I just turned 20 and I remember the excitement behind getting my first job bc now I could buy what I wanted. But this came around the time I was figuring out myself (like most teens) and my wardrobe style too so I made alot of purchases mostly bc I always wanted these things but didn't have the money to do so. Sometimes I still do but making it hard for myself has helped so I was surprised you do the same! I try to see why I want it in the first place or if it's mostly to have a certain impression on others including friends. You give the best advice and I've been using this as I still work in my wardrobe style. It used to be so varied bc of my undecision of what I liked. I didn't know if I liked these things or if I WANTED to like them to reach this personal aesthetic. Now I try to see if something fits with whatever else I have at home (but not too much) and if I will actually wear this often instead of waiting for that perfect occasion to get it out the closet. Thank you so much for your advice once again and to anyone reading this I wish you success on not overbuying :)
I appreciate your honesty! This lifestyle does seem unattainable and intimidating for a lot of people.thank you for continuing the conversation, exposing your audience to this lifestyle. 🧡
I honestly love these kinds of videos and definitely agree that we live in a consumerism based society. Most of us don't know and don't care to find out where our clothes come from, what kind of factories and workers make these clothes and how they are being treated and paid in order for these brands and big fashion companies to produce and sell the fast fashion clothes that we often see in stores. All respect to you girl for standing up and taking time of your day to educate others and myself on these topics and the ethics of what we wear!
Lol HRH mentioned companies that use influencers in her recent videos as well, but everything you said is spot on and a lot of us really need to hear it. I've been on the minimalism path for a few years now and there is something spiritually rewarding about keeping it simple, being conscious of what you buy, not adhering to trends and de-cluttering/getting rid of things you don't need. Even then advice like this is always needed.
Thank you for making this video, I've been binging your stuff here on youtube and you have become my favorite youtuber + influencer at the moment! However, it is really easy to get caught up in overbuying and splurging without purpose. I really needed this, as a college student working 2 minimum wage jobs to make things work, it's hard. Definitely refocusing after this vid and i'm glad I can watch your videos and actually learn something, not just aimlessly look at clothing or looks! Love you girl, keep up the awesome vids bc we appreciate them! xx
This is something I needed. I am an impulsive buyer and most of the time it comes to bite me so bad. I liked your little knick-knacks, I am so implementing this in my life. 2019 here comes your superhero!!!
A thing that I realised is that I am more likely to buy something when I am shopping with friends. I am pretty good at talking myself out of a purchase but it's much harder when your friends hype things up 😄
You’re vids have a special aura Whenever I’m unable to sleep in the midnight I watch your video in queue and i fall asleep . They are so soothing and calming !!! Everything about them background, colours , you’re voice and obviously you’re face 💙 Love from India
Hey Gemary, I’ve been watching your channel for a while now and I always seem forgetting to comment (like every video though) but I love and appreciate each of your content so much. I studied fashion design and it’s a topic that is very important to me and all of your points were se wisely approached. I could not agree more with what you discussed and how you said it. Really appreciate the effort you put into your channel and how natural this all feels ! ! xx from Switzerland
This is so true and I’m very glad you talked about this cause it’s such an important topic nowadays and most of the people never talk about this and try to show the opposite. Thank you!! :))
I truly appreciate this video! Thank you for much for keeping it real. This was so helpful. Amidst a world of excessive shopping attitudes, it’s refreshing to see inspiration like yours 💕
I agree that you should make space in your life but getting rid of one thing to make room for one thing makes things stay the same, I feel like this still encouraged consumerism. One can easily justify large purchases and just say I can get rid of two things in my closet, but this is part of a larger issue, seeing fashion and purchasing fashion as a disposable thing. I’m really not trying to be that person but I think it’s important that this is addressed. It is so much better to find a curated wardrobe that works so well you find no need to buy more. I do agree that make up should be replaced when old but if you don’t like it or it doesn’t match your skin tone or even if it causes irritation it should be returned otherwise you’re accumulating items to unconsciously justify other purchases. These items become your “I can buy that thing and throw this out” token
I love this video and I totally adore your style! It’s so aesthetically pleasing! Even the way you edit your videos is so beautiful, can you film a video talking about how you edit/film your TH-cam videos? That would be awesome! ♥️
I agree with every word you just said. I posted yesterday a pic on IG talking about not being perfect at sustainability and how mini step does a difference. I love your channel every day more ^_^
Thank you so much for this video!!! I am beyond lucky to have come across this during my time in college and it has helped me immensely in many MANY ways, especially financially (of course haha). I cannot express my gratitude enough, you are a gem and I really really REALLY appreciate you and this video more than words can describe
When are we getting an updated haircare routine? As someone trying to restore my own texture I see your progress and need to know your tips and tricks.
I haven't bought any new clothes (except for people's wedding and all) in 2 years now! And now i kinda wanna just magically swoosh my clothes and go get minimal pieces that looks good on me and lasts!
Hi, I'm a new subscriber! I absolutely fell in love with your styling tips, because I can relate to almost everything you said. By the way, I enjoy your videos and you look amazing in this video! Keep on posting!

Gemary-Love your content and message. Do your Vlogs get published on your blogs also? It would be great to have checklists appear as you write out your message. I just think you are a huge rising TH-camr and would love to see a crossover of this content. It doesn't look like you have posted to your blog in a very long time.
I love your videos. This is really helpful but one thing. Your voice seems to be pretty loud when recording. Maybe you can turn the microphone a bit softer so it is more pleasant? Just a suggestion

I haven't bought any new clothes in a year, but every time I go to my closet I keep decluttering it !!

So, after watching probably 20 of your videos, this is the one that made me subscribe to your channel. This 2-yr-old video...I love it so much.
I needed this. Thank you ! I’m doing a “no shopping February” ! Hope I can make it :)
You can, I haven't bought new clothes in over a year. It goes to pay my bills and my child's tuition.

This is totally unrelated but how did you make the list in the notes app?!??
There’s a little button that looks like a circle. It makes a list, and you can even check it off.
