Engines may have higher quality steel that is worth more per pound. With the right equipment it only takes seconds to rip an engine or transmission from a car. Also when dealing with thousands of pounds of material every day a couple cents more per pound adds up.

Easy to shred when there is no engine, suspension, transmission, just a sheet metal shell.
