I thought I’d share the donor selection process in the UK, 🇬🇧just another experience. In the UK, British men who donate, the sperm bank won’t show a baby photo or an adult photo. It’s completely unknown what they look like apart from a very detailed description on their profile page. Many sperm banks are based in other European countries that have other European men like Danish or German and they will usually have a baby photo. When I chose my donor I had to weigh it up. I always wanted someone based in England so I’ve never seen a photo of the donor I chose, but know my future kid could find out later, if they want. From my point of view it feels ok not know what they look like. In the UK all donors a person chooses has to be open donors, they can’t be anonymous. The law changed. So they have to agree to having their identity released to their child later on and agree to some communication if the child wants to at 18 and older. The sperm bank I chose has very detailed profiles unlike some others. It had a detailed letter from the donor to the receiving parent and child and a 20 minute audio of the interview they had with another message to the child. Of course so much detail medically about them, their parents, their grandparents.
I'm just getting started with this process and I agree with everything you said accept that you are going to start as soon as you can telling them where they came from. You do not want to burden a young child with that sort of information. I understand that you don't want to lie to your child either but you have to understand that their young mind is not going to understand the process ( and it may make them feel conflicted). I obviously don't know yet what I will tell my child but I know I won't be eager to discuss it and I'm for sure not going to let them read books about it. I think there is a time and a place. And I certainly would not rush it.
You are absolutely entitled to your own opinion! I did extensive research before even starting IVF on this topic and if you read anything written by actual donor conceived children, they all say that they felt lied to because they didn’t find out until they were older and wish they had known from the beginning. But you do what you think is best for YOUR further children of course! And I will do the same with mine ❤️
Donor-conceived adult here. Transparency is important from the moment your child begins talking. I would encourage you to push past any personal discomfort and to prioritise your child's emotional wellbeing and right to know their origin story. That story belongs to them and should not be withheld. There are fantastic resources available for discussing the topic with tots in a developmentally appropriate way. The journey you took to bring your child into the world is a thing to be celebrated. Please don't conceal your child's narrative, especially when it is such a great discussion topic for growing in intimacy together.

I'm sorry if this is nosey, because I know I'm not really the demographic your videos are meant for, but I'm fascinated by this process. I have no doubts you have lots of content planned for your channel, but I'm hoping at some point you could touch on how you expect this process to affect your dating life in the future. For example the blood-type thing. Like you said in the video, you know more about your donors than you normally would of a date. How do you go from having so much control over every aspect of a donor (physical characteristics, health history, personality description, etc), back to knowing nothing about someone you meet?
Good questions! I do plan on making a video about how I think this will affect dating once I’m ready to do that again! Regarding your second question, so obviously when people get pregnant naturally, they don’t always know each other’s blood type and what they are carriers for, etc... there are complications that can arise if two people are simply not compatible. Could lead to miscarriage or genetic abnormalities but of course these are rare. When you are spending so much money on this process though, you want to pick the perfect match to try to avoid these things from happening. Is this answering your question?
Choosing a donor and choosing a boyfriend are very different things, I’d like to think. For one, you’re choosing the best for your child. Plus you’ll never meet them. For two, it’s an intimate relationship.

@@SaraMaria83 thank you very much for answering me. If I didn’t misunderstand your video you mentioned hundreds of genetic tests done on your donor by the California Cryobank. The problem is that in Europe you cannot have access to a cryobank only the IVF clinic can as far as I know. Yesterday I was told by a nurse of a IVF clinic that the only tests for their selected donors are: sperm test, dna fragmentation test , epatiti s B and C, HIV, Syphilis, cystic fibrosis, electrophoresis, abnormal hemoglobins. Could you please tell the name of the genetic tests?
@@isabellairaca1669 ohhh it must just be different in the US. They do much more extensive testing at the Sperm bank I used - Xytex. I understand. Women don't have the luxury of choosing good looking men for marriage. Many other qualities are more important for that, so they have to take the best of who wants them. But this is the one scenario when women actually get to select who they are attracted to.
Ironically, I am not actually attracted to the sperm donor I ended up choosing (not the one I am talking about in this video since I had to choose a new one for my second round of IVF). I think he has nice features but I am not attracted to him. I chose him for many other reasons :)

@@SaraMaria83 Thanks for responding so quickly. in Australia the list is tiny, I need to wait for 3 months because I had some surgery, so I might have to wait another 3 months to get access of the American donors. hopefully more locals will get on the list
@@rinapapageorgiou1289 I’ve heard that there aren’t as many donors in Australia! I hope you find the perfect one for you very soon ❤️
DNA research tells the chromosomal order for traits. Get the genes that are brilliant and remember features have advantages.
What web site did you use?
Xytex
Can you please tell something more about the over 100 genetic test your sperm donor was tested. , please.?
It will just say what the Sperm donor was tested for on the Sperm bank site on their profile so you will be able to see before choosing your donor!
@@SaraMaria83 thank you very much for answering me. If I didn’t misunderstand your video you mentioned hundreds of genetic tests done on your donor by the California Cryobank. The problem is that in Europe you cannot have access to a cryobank only the IVF clinic can
as far as I know.
I don’t know all 280+ tests they do but like I said, you can find the list of tests each donor has had done on the website at least for Xytex since that is the bank I went with.
@@SaraMaria83 uhm I see. Thank you so much ❤️
You look so young and beautiful!
Thank you so much!
It may be helpful to suggest looking for potential donors on Facebook donor groups ? That way you can see what they look like .. just a suggestion.
Thank you for the suggestion!!! :)

Your welcome❤
hey I know a spell caster that can help you manifest children into your womb in less than 2weeks,he helped my sis and my aunt. He can help you with twins or triplet,he is so powerful🎵🎵.
Wow you look 27! YGG!
Oh my goodness thank you! I don’t know about 27 but I’ll take it 😊😊😊
Its true
@@TheAayize thank you 😊😊😊
I was actually looking into picking donor from this company but then I saw report from Georgia mom. She used same company and they didn’t screen the donor.. company took his word in regards to his profile. Eventually Georgia mom discovers son is schizophrenic and has other hereditary disorder is from his father.
Yeah I read all about that too. After that, Xytex made sure things that that wouldn’t happen again thank goodness!
I mean who's to say the donors don't lie about their background. I highly doubt they're hiring private investigators to go track down the family lineage. I mean yell the blood work is one thing but these donors have a lot of latitude.
I m most concerned about the genetic testings
Yes that’s important!!!
What’s the banks name you used?
Xytex!
Did you ever think about free sperm donors?
No. Too risky for so many reasons.
Yes I agree. You are very beautiful Sara.
@@holdencawffle626 awww why thank you 🙈
@@SaraMaria83 I'm just shocked that you weren't able to find someone, bc you're so pretty. Many guys that are 35-45 that are interested in a relationship, having kids (for the first time), etc. Your personality, looks, etc...you're a catch!
@@holdencawffle626 I really appreciate that! I’m pretty sure it’s been a combination of me picking the wrong guys and the right guys probably sensing my desperation to have children and that has turned them away. Now I can’t even thinking about dating for awhile since having my little boy 🥰
What about education, that's so important, also lean built and height :)
I felt like education didn’t matter because anyone can go to a good school and get a good education but that doesn’t have to do with genetics. I will send my child/children to good schools :) Yes, my donor has a very lean build and is 6’2”!!! 😍
👍😘🌹
Why the f is this in my recommended
😂😂😂😂
That's bad choice because there's more than enough good men out there. Maybe not making 6 figures or super tall but if you're willing to put those things aside. There are men that have their shit together and are good
Believe me I have never dated men making that much or are super tall. I care about personality and kindness and many other traits. I have tried my absolute hardest to meet the right person over the last 20 years. I now have the most beautiful baby boy who is almost a year and a half old now so sorry to break it to you but I made the BEST choice!!!!
@@SaraMaria83 You did your best ofc. Man are threatened by this trend, hence this comment. Good Luck!
@@MshTch I really did and am still hopeful I’ll find my person. Believe me I would’ve much rather have gotten married and had children the “normal” way! I know most women going this route feel the same although there are some women that just don’t want to get married. I appreciate your comment. I never thought about that aspect.
I disagree with you respectfully. Sara made the right decision for her. I also tried the dating even tried a known/friend donor that didn’t work out. Some men now and days don’t want responsibilities and constantly change their minds about wanting children. There are so many outcomes of a relationship with someone that is unknown. Deciding to have children either you want to have kid now or not! I stand by 💯 percent with all the SMBC who chose this path to have their family and didn’t want to wait for Mr. Right. What’s important to you waiting for a relationship or having a baby before your time is up, is how I see it!
You couldn't find a man? Probaby too picky
Correct. I’m not going to settle for someone JUST to have a baby.

@@SaraMaria83 Yesss girl 👏🏾 I am 30 and looking into this. I think by 33 if I haven’t met the right person, I will go forward with becoming a SMBC ☺️ But I’m definitely not going to settle and rush into something with someone just to be able to become a Mom 💯
