+Earl Lemongrab Yeah I hadnt heard of them when I saw them open for Metz and I was like I bet this guy works a low level position in a law firm or something and this is all his pent up anger
+Davide Zane The players are very good but Protomartyr is entirely made by Joe Casey's dank happy hour greaseball look and his slurred 4 am spoken word poetry.
Have you heard the bad news? We've been saved by both coasts A bag of snakes with heads of gas The complicated haircuts ride in on a white ass And I'll try to live defeated Come and see the good in everything Outside, animals sound Come and see the open ending Let it snow, and freeze them in their minds Count their money with broken arms They come as friends, and ready to be capitalized In this town In this hole And I'll try to live defeated Come and see the good in everything Outside, animals sound Come and see them lead us all up to heaven ...
I just saw them slay a small club audience in San Diego. Protomartyr is NOT a band to be missed live. They definately had a Fall vibe going on, though Joe Casey is certainly no MES. I've seen the Pixies several times, back in the day, and have also seen The Fall and Protomartyr def have a Fall vibe to their performance, more The Fall than the Pixies. Protomartyr guitarist played a hollow-body Telecaster thru a twin reverb. It sounded so fucking sweet.
maybe a stupid question but if you would indulge me: does anyone know time signature on this song, and are there two different ones being used or am i hearing something that isn't there? thanks for indulging what may be a dumb question...
yeah it has such a good drum groove that it doesn't feel like 4/4 but it is. Another thing is that the guitar player has his delay pedal repeats set up at intervals that don't lock in with the time signature, those are the "ghost" notes you hear after every time he hits a chord
These guys are really giving me Protomartyr vibes
best band of the last ten years, by a very wide margin.
Parquet too
Man, lead singer does not give a fuck. Love Protomartyr.
Daniel Rauch I feel like he's an accounts payable guy when he's not a musician.
Daniel Rauch He's like a cross between Matt Berninger and Mark E Smith.

+Zac R Haha. Now I cant look at any of my colleagues the same way any longer. XD

TheZeke1970 It's just in 4/4 mate
Really, that is why my musicianship never leaves the house. Thank you for answering!

looks like David Cameron and performs like "hit the north", so good shit
that is an inspired and entirely accurate description
does joe ever not wear a suit?
he likes to go out in style
Stuart Ayers good one man
I’d be pissed if he wasn’t wearing a suit
I wonder if this song is in reference to the movie of the same name

Why they're all red?
+Norma Perez Arteaga Cos it's 100 degrees and they are on a stage performing music dressed in all black. And they're white. Why aren't you red?
