I just love Chanelle, she provides such light-heartedness, whilst Alex is full-on serious vibe and the tongs at the end for putting the clothes in the washing machine 😄 #luvU2
Nice to see somebody who recognises that Zwift is really a training tool. Its fun to race, and without the fence all group rides turn into races, but because you can cheat (120kph) and trainers accuracy may vary, you cannot account for CD etc then the only person you can really beat on Zwift is yourself. Keep up the good work Alex.
I don't like Zwift, since its "cheating". In comparison with Zwift, on other platforms (e.g. BKool), I need to put down more power, to reach the same 40+ kmh avg speed. And when compared with my memories of riding in the real world, from pre-virus times, the power needed to be put down on other platforms, feels more realistic with this regard.
Beg,borrow or steal a fan it honestly makes a massive difference, you might even hit 370w ave 🤣 but then again you are at altitude. Maybe get two fans 🤔🤣🤣
No one but you is on a tt bike in a tt position. They're all on road bikes hammering in the most upright position they can, with likely better virtual equipment (faster bikes and wheels) (that's not mentioning the calibration, height and weight doping (yes height matters)). Props to you for doing it, filming it and having a sense of perspective on it.
How do you know no else is on a tt bike? Alex mentioned a bunch of guys were British tters. Those guys would use their tt position when doing this type of training.
@@MB-pq4hx okay captain pedantry, sure, they might. So for all the super offended 6 w/kg TTers out there that are crying at home because I maligned them I sincerely apologise.
EricMichaelManuel Strawman, you said everyone wasn’t in the tt position, now it’s about 6wkg. Why you needed to insult me about it, my mistake for being dumb enough to make a comment on youtube I guess.
Alex, Zwift’s own ‘Fast Tuesday’ TT’s are on the same course (but 18km instead of 16km and use the conveyor belt staggered start. The Zwift event is repeated several times during Tue/Wed morning so you get a few opportunities to ride it. The Newbury Velo midweek (Wed- 7pm) and weekend (Sat- 10am) TT’s are the same course and start and very popular - 1000 riders entered the one on Saturday just gone. Might try your TT tips ride this Wednesday followed by the Newbury if my legs are still working.
While Chanel might be your biggest fan! And can move a lot of air when your suffering (and we love it) A static fan that keeps a jet of air will help ;) Loving the vids
I swear my favourite shorts give me an extra 10 watts in my head, when coupled with my favourite socks make that an extra 5 watts on top. Another brilliant insightful and honest video, go Alex!
This always makes my day. I lost a massive number of calories watching you ride and sweat...goodness do you perspire! Chanel always adds just the right amount of humor with the encouraging slap on the ass and commentary. Loved it! Say hey to Albert for me.
Alex, Zwift recommend you do a calibration spin down after each ride and I do a wahoo spin down afterwards aswell to calibrate it too. Things can get out of whack very quickly on Zwift. Great video/workout, love your youtube stuff...awesome.
when you get back on the road I will be really keen to hear if you feel Zwift has been a good training aid. I have friends that give me grief for zwifting instead of always using the real roads but I like to think that Zwifting is benefitting my overall training.
Very nice TT! this racing is great training. You inspire me to do some Zwift TT this spring and summer. No racing IRL so it is the best replacement we have. Hang tough Alex.
You're where I was last week. First TT, went out too hard to keep with someone I knew, slowed towards the end. Last week, paced it to "perfection" catching riders who slowed and sprinted in, went 20s slower. Hoping I'll learn from your next video!
Alex, do you train with a fan infront of you? I'm the furthest thing from a pro but i find overheating indoors is super easy and thus reduces power output. With a fan blowing infront of me (simulating wind cooling me) allows me to put out more power
Mate, you have to use a fan. Have a chat to Greg Henderson about it. He had a great interview with one of his professors about heats effect on power output. Also, you need to be level 40 to get the first 808/disc available from Zipp, then level 45 is the 858/disc. If you have the 808s chuck them on. Also, in that one it was a race, so there was drafting. Everyone else had it, but you on the TT bike never got any draft effect. Cheers.
It's because you are at altitude and using your accurate weight lol. I'm glad to see that you are starting to realize the antics on Zwift. In real life you'd destroy everyone and we all know that. And you know that too lol.
err, altitude! Oh! Is Simon Yates in residence in Andorra at the moment btw? He got caught and blown away by Ed Laverack on Alpe du Zwift a week or so ago. Wondered if he wasn't really going for it, or if it was just altitude.
'Vamoss' is becoming a Zwift TT thing! We need to get Zwift to change the 'Ride-On's to Vamosses on TTs and get Chanel to record them! Would be epic! :)
I'm 115 pounds and 5 foot 4 so everyone just assumes I'm cheating in zwift when in reality I'm 14 years old stop assuming that everyone who is 50 kg is lying about their weight
I’ve heard you’d be losing more watts from the lack of fast air flow than from altitude. Normally you are moving through the air crazy fast which creates cooling, siting there with just a little window open you are cooking yourself. Zwifters generally have fast fans or lots of standard ones.
The good thing when WT Pros are on Zwift they can spot the cheaters in no time. Hang on tight Alex! 6 weeks of lack down with your GF / Coach / Supporter is a recipe for total meltdown by mid of May... Pace yourself.
haha, it looks like alex really got the cabin fever. kudos to chanel though - alex gives her more than enough reason to be sour when he shuts down every attempt she makes to lighten the mood but she just doesn't take it personally. there might be more stamina needed for that than for completing this time trial :)
Sorry Alex, Zwift doesn't open disc wheels (808/Super 9) until level 35 at a minimum (unless you're a beta tester). I've been on Zwift for almost four years and just hit level 35. It's a long road ahead for that wheel set, unfortunately....
Think the only thing zwift could do about the cda is maybe reduce it for each rider depending on how often they ride the tt bike. Not realistic but something. No point letting you input it yourself as you’d get people doing the same as they do with their weight.
If you're after Zwift race results, maybe it's worth doing on your road bike instead, so that you can squeeze our some extra watts over your TT position?
Part of the problem with TTing on Zwift is the fact that it doesn't take into account actual aerodynamics, and being 1.82m Zwift's calculations are wack. I done a 17km TT and held 340w, but was 3 minutes slower than a friend that done 300w - the only thing that could be considered is that I was 3.3w/kg and he was 4.2w/kg. The fact it was a pan-flat course, W/KG shouldn't make that much difference, and 340w for me is normally good for a 23.xx time outside.
Not sure on zwifts exact calculations but the height you put in makes a much larger difference on the flat. There are some videos on youtube of people testing it.
Just looks brutal... Are you seeing the effect of the altitude in your blood values? (assume you’ve got some sort of blood spot test kit thing available). Is there a rule of thumb for how many more watts you could put out at sea level, based on your numbers for where you are? #NumbersNerd
The guy who "won" might have had his motorcycle on the trainer how would these platforms know. Bit like some Strava records they must have been done in a car or on a ,motorbike.
"We should call him butter, coz he´s on a roll"!?!?!? Chanel you´re on fire. YT cant handle that intensity of banter.
I just love Chanelle, she provides such light-heartedness, whilst Alex is full-on serious vibe and the tongs at the end for putting the clothes in the washing machine 😄 #luvU2
I haven't watched this yet. But, I guess altitude is mentioned...
If you tried riding a Zwift race at altitude, believe me, you'd be mentioning it too.
Great video. Highlight was Chanel using tongs to pick up the soggy kit at the end.
+1. I laughed hard at that!
I'm at altitude merch required! :)

Should retitle the video “Chanel terrorising Alex whilst he time trials for 16 minutes straight”

TT disc wheel setups on zwift are the : zipp 808/super 9 combo and the 858 super 9 combo

On flat roads people also dope with height. Imputing a lower height gives an aero advantage in the game.
Is this true? Can you cite a test? I thought zwiftinsider did some testing on this and determined that height had no bearing?
It's all about cooling: 1. Huge fan 2. No shirt 3. Ice down the back of your bib shorts
Yes Blake pond! He's done a few TT's here in Cornwall and I'm pretty sure he is a local
My favourite part of your vlogs is Chanel's commentary :)
Another great vid......I felt your pain!
LOL @ I’m gonna push and go for 368 watts. The dry wit is spot on.
zipp 808/super9 is what you want and two fans
why Zwift don't put image as disc ,,i didn't realise when i first looking for
368 watts is decent, Alex, but Chanel is by far your greatest achievement
Alex, do you train with a fan infront of you? I'm the furthest thing from a pro but i find overheating indoors is super easy and thus reduces power output. With a fan blowing infront of me (simulating wind cooling me) allows me to put out more power
I'm far from pro, or even a competitive cyclist, but having a fan does genuinely make such a big difference when riding on the turbo!
GT2 RS - yes Sir! Great choice.
Zipp has a disk wheel, look zipp super something. Not showing as disk in shop but once you choose it does...
Thanks. Forgot about that. Have been level 50 for at least a year now...

-14% for altitude and -14% for Channel’s irritating support. I think the vamos support would be worth a few watts.
