Great review friend! I actually have all of Chris’s books from prealgebra through the multi variable calculus. I wrote to him, through his website, when I started my journey to relearn math and he gave me some guidance on how to use his books. Now that I’ve moved on to Algebra, I’m reinforcing prealgebra but using the prealgebra workbook.

I have this book, I agree with you that it is an excellent book, especially in terms of number of exercises.
However, a book with a better explanation, but less exercises, I can recommend:
    Plane Trigonometry, by S.L. Loney.
    Thanks for this video!

That's a 100 year old book. It's also way much, much more advanced. It's like comparing a real car with a toy car. The book in this video is for the very basics, almost a dummy-style book. They should not be even compared. I think 99.99% of people don't need a book like Loney. However some middle ground makes sense, i.e. more advanced and detailed books than in this video. A somewhat more or less comprehensive and serious is _Trigonometry_ by Sunstorm and Schlicker. Another example which is a simpler book but more serious and deeper than in this video is Schaum's series _Trigonometry._ However, most people probably should go with a simple book like the one recommended in this video, especially if they struggle with the topic.

The best book I have seen on trigonometry is Курс тригонометрии Андронов И.К. Окунев А.К. The Course of Trigonometry by Andronov I.K. Okunev A.K. (rough translation of the title). This book is the best textbook on trigonometry in the history of humankind. Judging from the 156 different trigonometry textbooks and books I've read.

I feel that new books on mathematics or any science topic is just half-assed when it comes to writing. I've always been very fond of Soviet textbooks on mathematics, physics, geology etc., for this reason alone (Helps being able to read Russian!), but occasionally, some other countries come with amazing books.
Definitely getting this book in my collection!

People must understand first what Trigonometry really is.
These are SPECIAL Madhava series. We encountered our first frustration of exactness when we found ourselves with the square root of two. Taylor series where needed and then subsequently we got ourselves into Laurent series and the complex functions of Z.
Well some people likes to measure the area of their grain lands too.....:D

None of the basics, algebra, trig, geometry, etc., would be at all critical if they weren't ALL fairly frequently encountered in nearly EVERY class after the basics, for any math intensive (engineering, etc.) or pure math degree plans. Very wise to get this down early. For me, basic algebra is the most common roadblock. As an aside, we can also easily see from your videos what you would like for a present: Any of these flavors of cologne - 1. Ancient Text, 2. Egyptian Papyrus, 3. 200-Year-Old Unreturned Library Book, 4. Leatherbound Tome of Antiquity.

You really make a very strong case for making sure to have the basics down-pat , because otherwise your mathematical " skill-set " will be flawed. I have suffered for years off and on , and I always thought it was just me... lol
As for your more humerous comments , I almost spit my coffee through my nose , and fell off the couch. You have a future in writing sit-coms for SNL

    Hello Sir,
My name is Krish and I am from India currently i am preparing for JEE exam and want some list of books which we can use to master from start to advance.
Sir my trigonometry is really weak like very weak so please recommend some series of trigonometry books from basic to advance which doesn't requires much pre-requisite knowledge .
And can you please make such video on algebra, coordinate geometry etc. As in India most book requires pre requisite knowledge and my maths was very weak because in past I took it as burden but now i really want to improve it and master it so please recommend some good foreign author's book form basic to advance.
    Thank you, Sir.

👍Hope you find time to review S L Loney Plane Trigonometry, its Solutions Book, the sequel Analytical Trigonometry, its Solutions Book. Some of these may be available as Free Downloadable PDF (If so, well within any budget) When learning first time, it really helps to solve exercises by oneself when possible, and consult the full solutions when necessary. Walking all the steps with a guide, one never feels discouraged☺
