can you load your plugin for stand alone ? or can you pre-record the sound with event plugin effect and have them sitting there in stand alone ? it is a bit a mystery how the stand alone works, let says you'd want to use it like a maschine plus you could ?
Is sampling with this as easy as it would be with something like a Mashine or an MPC? I'm looking to get into hip hop production so sampling is a big feature I'd be looking for in a drum pad
Hi Connor, great question! Sampling on the Aura is quite similar workflow-wise to the Maschines and MPCs that are not standalone (i.e. the sampling is handled on the computer). If you wanted a standalone sampler that does not require a computer then the MPC (One or above) and the Maschine Plus would be the way to go. Thanks! @@sweetwater Ok, awesome! I was specifically looking at the MPC Studio 2 and the Mashine MK3 / Mikro, and I know at least the studio 2 let's you "lazy chop" and I know the full size MK3 has a similar feature on it as well, but if the aura can do that just as well as the full size Mashine for the same price as the Studio MK2 or the Mikro Mk3 it seems like it would be the way to go due to its versatility and price!
I'm using Reason 12. Is it possible to use the Aura/Aruba to sample ditectly in Mimic sampler without using the mouse? Am I able to chop the sample in Mimic directly in the hardware or do I need to use my mouse to chop up the samples?
Hey there! That’s a really great question. From what I’m seeing mostly online and from Reason support, the Aura/Aruba’s main DAW control will be with transport and basic DAW functionality. Any further flexibility with the controller will be found when used with Nektarine. For best control functionality, you will be best off using the Reason Rack plug-in within Nektarine. This will give you more options and control than running the Aura directly within Reason. I hope this helps. Feel free to reach out with any further questions! yoo i'm the guy in the video - you want the long or the short version? long version is like 9 min long, i made a version for this video that's a bit shorter. i can link it your way, just lmk :)
Hi, thanks for the question! Looking through the manuals for the Aruba (formerly Aura) and the Nektarine software, I am not seeing any mention of being able to add any more pads or triggers to the set-up. It seems you are limited to the 16 pads that device comes with. If you have further questions, just give me a ring! OK Look; IMHO That was a nice track, but Christopher was not playing it, or making any changes to it with his knob twiddling. He was mucking around with the Program load and the MIDI CC settings, he wasnt even fading stuff... This is like a guitar player nodding along to a song and playing with the tuning knobs on the head, but not playing strings. Also ... at least in the firmware I have; The "play, stop" buttons DON'T do what they say. To start a Pattern, you must press the "run/stop" button, which is one of the four multi use buttons under the screen..... just hope you are at a screen that has it assigned. Those other stop/go/repeat buttons do nothing as far as I can tell after 2 months using it. When I say "using" it, I mean trying to avoid defenestrating it. I have used it mainly on its own, although a bit with Nektarine, I thought it would play VSTs. Nope. Also It has no audio out, and no midi in (except for USB). Would love to see it used well, as I am not sure how that is done.
The play / stop / record are transport controls for your DAW. This thing is primarily useful if you’re using it with a DAW. Also in perform mode you can have whatever patterns set and ready to trigger, so you hit the pad to start your drum or bass loop, then introduce and stop other elements from the perform screen. It works great to control my VSTs from Nektarine so I’m not sure what you’re talking about. Biggest problems with the unit are with documentation and occasionally having to reboot / exit logic for things to appear as they should.
@@drewbs.b Interesting you should comment now, the unit has been removed from the Website, without a comment or announcement. It seems it never existed. Thats OK, I could never get it to work properly, and thats probably no coincidence... Sigh.

Love all of Nektar gear. The Aura plays right along with my MPC Touch. Had it since it came out and wouldn’t trade it.
