I didn't have, "Play as a cartoon cat, fighting a anime corporate villain to the beat of at Nine Inch Nails song" on my 2023 gaming bingo card... but here we are.
I don't know if I'm shocked they took the chance to belittle a NIN song by playing as a cat from the start of it, or shocked at the fact that a NIN song goes well with playing as a cat from the start of a fight.
I like that he takes off his coat, just to grow robot clothes, which he then takes off AGAIN later when he powers up. Just so inane, fits him perfectly.
Don't get me wrong, the fact they straight up did their whole own soundtrack to fit the gameplay and be streamer safe is incredible. But Nine Inch Freakin' Nails to your Final Boss fight? Unbeatable. Thank you for this hype.
I feel like there is absolute intention behind the fact you're fighting tooth and nail (read: literally, with 808's nails) when Perfect Drug starts, too. It could've waited for once you have Chai back, but I feel like there's a wink and nudge here lol
The game was designed around the licensed songs and so were the new tracks. Super interesting. Must’ve been fun to take artists like Nine Inch Nails and craft music around their music
one of the finest design decisions in my eyes is the "every teammate gets their hits in" beatdown sequence. even if it is a largely unused ally it lets you know your character values their help.
You gotta love how Kale isn't your typical villain. He's not strictly evil, just super convoluted and greedy. He has tech that can change the world, but he decides to use it for profit. And in the end, when he realizes that he can't beat Chai and others, he doesn't have any meltdown or doesn't attempt to appeal to MC's guilt or greed. He just gives up and explodes.
i dont know i think the game portrays him as pretty strictly evil what with the literal invention of days to get more work output and whatnot ... its very silly how blatantly "anti establishment" all the little details paint the team to be and even if it is a tech industry type thing its very much rock star to be against corporate. maybe well get a berserk type backstory for kale though who knows
@@SeaFR in a way, but Chai actually works towards breaking out of that cycle. He wants to be a rockstar, so he volunteers for Armstrong to fast track that dream even though he can't even play guitar. But, due to the work of the team, he goes from being this outcast wannabe rockstar to having a new family that cares and wants to see him grow into actually being that rockstar, so he takes the initiative and begins working towards it instead of taking shortcuts
The fact they all explode upon defeat is kinda messed up. What did Kale have bombs planted in everyone’s chest in case they failed? Actually that does sound like something he would do.
fun fact: if you perfect parry his laser sequences it automatically breaks all of his stun gauge. makes the fight way easier if you're confident in your parry skills.
Just looking at Kale makes me wonder about this world's history. Getting a limb like Peppermint's replaced isn't a big deal, and then you have full-body prosthesis users like Kale and Roquefort.
Given how Project Armstrong is brand new, it seems that replacement limbs are a relatively recent phenomenon, or at least be cheap enough for people like Chai to afford. Kale and Roquefort are just high enough on the totem pole to get the best of the best when it comes to new prosthetic parts.
@@gidofter_lukge well, we dont know how much Chai paid, if anything at all. He was recruited right into "magnetic waste", so i assume the price was literally going to be paid off by work.
@@StagFiesta Chai didn't pay. Project Armstrong was a voluntary initiative to introduce body augmentations to the mainstream public (also the whole Spectra thing). Peppermints leg was made by her mother, the original CEO of the company.

I love playing this game mostly playing the final boss fight cuz of the music, and I can't stop playing it, I never get bored of it, I am hoping the developers make a sequel as well in the future
this is the one song I think from this game that is better in the licenced tracklist than their originals. its impressive given how good their choice was
They should add a boss rush but then again we got Rythm tower which is basically the endurance mode. The worst thing about the game is when you reach peak. The momment you finish rythm tower and the bosses on rythm master S crown you weep, for there are no more difficulties left to master. I would personally like if Rythm master instead of the D rank instant death would add more intense attacks to the bosses. For example their combos to have more hits and generally them adding more pressure to you since parrying is the most satisfying part of the game. Similar to the Samurai bot beat combo
@@lednails I thought Trent's dracula phase was underlived. He could have done a whole CD like that. This was released between TDS and the Fragile which makes it some sort of weird fever dream bonus track that doesn't really live in any era
@@neontiger1557 Those are certainly his most popular songs, but you have to listen to his entire albums to find the real gems. I think my favorite is Into the Void and Where is Everybody played back to back

I like that he takes off his coat, just to grow robot clothes, which he then takes off AGAIN later when he powers up. Just so inane, fits him perfectly.
You have to keep the drip on point
He has the drippyer robot coat underneath the drippy coat
Obviously he derives power from drip
Only the Vandelay family can own the Vandelay Drip.
