I have a full sized M&P 2.0 in 9mm in FDE, 17 rounds; but they are basically the same enough for this video to be helpful.
It's a great gun. The only complaints I've heard anyone have of it is the trigger, and even that's good enough and better than the first model of M&P. I don't have any issues with the trigger personally, but it does feel different.
Thanks for the video. I know how to do a basic field strip of mine but it's the first pistol I've owned and after about 800 rounds I wanted to do a deep clean of the entire pistol and this was a huge help.
Thanks for watching, it gets easier after the first couple of times. Then you start understanding how the internals ofmost modern pistols work and then you can detail strip without any tutorials. Happy shooting

12:11, I lost it. All that work to get the frame safety plug back in and it flies out when you toss it.
I just noticed it flew off when I tossed it down, guess that’s what I get, I made that video almost 2 years ago and still haven’t put it back on. I have it though lol
Thank you for the video. I tried an Apex trigger install and when I removed the block, trigger and sear from the frame a small plastic piece with a “1” fell out and I had no idea from where it came. I was freaking out nervous I wouldn’t be able to figure what it was, where it needed to go back or if it was a piece I broke off the frame - in other words I had just ruined my frame. Thankfully your video showed that it was simply the safety plug 😅

I saw a video from a guy who said that the most basic tear down of this pistol… Smith And Wesson DID NOT recommend that you pull the trigger during the beginning of disassembly. Instead he said you have to stick a flat head screwdriver in there and press down on a part? It pushed me away from almost buying this pistol. Then I discovered your video. You seem extremely competent, and I would love your input on the matter.
The lever is just a way to bypass pulling the trigger. Totally optional. You also dont need a flathead you can just depress the lever with your finger.
You can also use the disassembly tool that holds the grip panel in place.
There is no way I would be able to put it back together again.

behind the slide stop assembly there is a small metal retainer on the frame there, how can I remove that? prepping for cerakote.

why is there a dimple on the sear? mine has it too.
The sear block housing pin at 8:55 seems to be loose or moving quite easily. Is this something for concern? I have the m&p 9 2.0 4' model. Please help

S&W will not send you the safety lever or detent and spring. It is against there policy to send safety parts. Just checked twice and was told NO. Just letting you know. The yellow wired thing is called the sear disconnect.
They did last year, many people did it including me, it got abused and now they won’t even send the plugs to remove the safety anymore from what I’ve herd. People were selling them on eBay and I’m sure they got tired of it
Thanks. I will have to buy mine off of eBay. Yes I could not believe they would not make the pistol safer for a customer. Especially since they sell them like that. My LGS did not have any with the safety.
I know this an old video but nice work. Thank God for GLOCK. This is not a gun I would bug out with.
Why ? I have owned every Glock on the market besides the 18 and just got the m&p 2.0 9mm 3.6 and it absolutely blows any Glock I have owned and own away . The tear detailed tear down isn’t that complex it’s literally two pins and a spring lol you don’t have to touch the sear . This series of pistols have a very long history of reliability and service I have no problem carrying one or in your own words bug out with one lol .

@@HotBrass-LeadNo he's right. If I had to choose one gun for the rest of my life, it'd be a G19 simply due to how serviceable it is. Drop it in mud, sand, water? No problem. You can get it cleaned at a detail strip level even in the middle of nowhere. I have way better shooting guns than my Glocks like an Elite LTT Beretta, but that's a gun I wouldn't rely on for long term outdoor reliability. Luckily 99.9% of us don't live in conditions where we're Navy SEALs in a jungle so the M&P and other more difficult to detail strip pistols are more than adequate for our every day use. But for bugging out and long term outdoor use, a Glock is #1 until other companies get on the same level of simplicity as Glocks.

At 7:30 you took out the slide stop assembly by pinching and puling up. Can I start right there to just take out the slide stop because that's all I need to check?
I believe you could but you’ll have the line up all 3 when you go to put the pin back in. But technically you shouldn’t have to remove the sear housing to just look at the slide lock
Ehhh. Dumb question but what's the diameter of the trigger pin? I can't find it anywhere. Looks like 1/8".

I want one of these so bad. Being a Glock guy I appreciate being able to detail strip my gun with ease too much. This seems like a headache 🤕
I carried Glock for many years but eventually switched to the m&p shown. I simply shoot it better and feels better than my glocks did. The complete take down is a little more complex which obviously doesn’t bother me but I can see it for most people. Although a complete strip isn’t something that’s needed all the time it is nice to know how to do it if needed.
The important part, the field strip part, is easy enough and you don't need any tools and can do it rather quickly. Detail strip isn't needed that often.

You don't need a better trigger you need training. I have personally outshot several people who had upgraded Glock triggers, red dots, recoil springs etc. With my stock M&P 2.0 c.
Someone gifted me an M&P with an Apex trigger and I sold it to buy a brand new stock one.
Smith & Wesson doesn't want people to use the trigger to remove the slide, depress sear pin !

How often do you need to do this? Seems like a bit much for me.
MastaChinks it’s not something that’s needed often. Most people dont shoot a gun enough to get those internals dirty enough to cause malfunctions, but if you do put multiple thousands of rounds through it a year then it doesnt hurt to take it down to nothing and clean all small parts. Of course don’t do anything to a gun you aren’t confident doing.
Does the full size 2.0 have that red spring with the slide stop. I tore my down and it didn't have one in it.
Aarron Harrison haven’t torn down the full size but I don’t see why it wouldn’t, it needs tension somehow. Look at a exploited parts diagram for that model and see if it’s listed. Is it new or used ?
The Shooters Table it’s new and the diagrams from brownells show the slide stop but no spring but I was thinking the same thing as far as needing tension

Oh my God. When disassembling a glock, only one punch is needed and no dancing with a tambourine. I can show it once to my youngest daughter and she can repeat it. I watched your video a couple of times and still have questions about disassembly. No, S&W it's not for me, thanks for the video.
Well I’ll agree glock is the easiest but the m&p isn’t that bad once you figure it out. Got a cz 75 and a p30 coming up soon. Those can make your brain hurt the first time
@@TheGunBench But we are talking about polymer frame strikers, not hammer model. And to be honest, I checked the other pistols. Glock is certainly the best in this aspect. Smith&Wesson is not the worst when compared with FNH FNS9, Ruger American or Springfield XD.
Why make a pistol mechanism more complicated than a mechanical clock?
Yeah I agree glock figured it out with so few parts you’d think other manufactures would try to copy that(more than they have) the HK vp9 is one of those that is more difficult than it needs to be. The PPQ isn’t terrible but not easy. Glock wins hands down

Number one reason why I will always buy Glock, I can take it apart with my eyes closed I can put it back together with my eyes closed full disassembly maybe not the mag release in the disassembly with my eyes closed, recently watching some videos made me think about switching from clock to Smith & Wesson I want to get the new 2.0 10 mm but after watching this I'm just going to get the Glock 20, keep my glock 26 and That's all folks
Not everything is about doing things with your eyes closed but you can keep your Glock just know your missing out on performance
I know nothing about guns. Just bought this gun because i have a newborn and i want something at the house. I feel like all these videos fly through every step. I cant figure this shit out
Why do you need to completely take it apart? If you know nothing about guns this isn’t something you want to start learning with. Stay with a basic field strip, clean and lube that way instead of taking it all the way apart. That’s not needed unless you’ve shot thousands of rounds out of it.
If you can’t get your gun back together I’ll gladly help get it back together.
