Not sure why that is, but I really like the sound of the camera rolling along the rail. Love that every time I fear a horror genre is worn out, someone puts a new spin on it.
I mean, this is not that different from "I'm on Observation Duty 3" You know... the one no one liked for being different from the games in the series? But now I'm a camera on rails instead of a person!
You saying "I really wish there was a big-" and a really obvious anomaly happened with a demonic form tp'ing around the house, house really said "damn ok, here you go."
I love watching these videos because I spend the whole time going 'that door moved!' 'I think that plant changed!' 'that cupboard looks different!' and then it turns out Gab got all the anomalies so I was wrong on every count. I'm capable of convincing myself any given object is different than before, when it is in fact exactly the same.
ok but going in someone’s bathroom and seeing they took a picture of their actual toilet, framed it and hung it up would be hysterical i might do that 😂
I love the new perspective of passing through the rooms but on a set path. Cant wait for more from this dev. Very cool. Thanks for playing all these anomaly games so I have something fun and semi-engaging to watch while I crochet ^--^
I loved Rose Red as a kid, my grandmother would tape each episode on VHS when it premiered on TV so we could watch it together when I visited on the weekend, then bought the VHS box set so we could watch it over and over after. I think I was 13 when it came out, and it was one of the first horror series I loved.
This is SO interesting, I love how the controls were posters on the wall, the smooth gliding of the camera on the rail to get different views of the same room even going OUTSIDE, the sound effects. Really well made game. Glad I got to see my favorite creator play it!
Not me creeping myself out imagining what it would be like if you're going about your business when the camera casually slides into the room and points at you when you're not the one in the room controlling it 😂😂
Face blindness is the worst. Especially when an acquaintance walks up to you and starts chatting while your mind goes "I know you, but I have no idea why you are."
The first time I realized that people direct me in conversations was during my autism test. So I would answer a conversational question and say everything I was thinking and then just stop talking. The proctor wouldn’t prompt the conversation forward naturally.
As a DM it can make life difficult haha. Thankfully 4/4 of my players are also autistic/ADHD flavored so we're just a mess that somehow works together. I find myself often waiting a while into our silence after a tangent for my brain to screech "HEY, IT'S OUR JOB TO GET THEM GOING AGAIN".
Thank you for everything you do. My family watches your channel daily. The world is a dark place, but its nice to be distracted from it for a video at a time.
Oh, I thought "on rails" like a rail shooter where you would be dragged through sets and have to spot anomalies before getting out of range. I'm kind of glad that's not the case, I feel like having that element of player control is beneficial to this genre. Its interesting how the full-room modifications seem to always happen to the unfinished room (except for the time the outside was completely dark - I'm pretty sure that was just so that you had to go further out of the way to see the monster banging on the door). Almost like the fact that the room is unfinished makes it easier for the ghosts to manipulate it, like a blank canvas. (Its also just a good idea from a design perspective because there's fewer subtle things you can do in such a sparse room)

I am a woman with autism and the main reason for not recognizing faces is that we don't like looking people in the eye, so in order to avoid it, we don't look at their face at all except in quick peeks. So it can take months to accumulate a full image unless you see a person everyday. I have found that if there is the possibility of taking a picture of them or finding one (perhaps they could be in the background of a selfie for instance, only if it were not rude or inappropriate to take one of course.) that I can study their face and memorize it comfortably. I hope your test gives you some insights and whatever it says about you, know that you are awesome and unique and I love watching your channel everyday. 😁😁
I remember one of the first things I was told about Autism was that people with it struggle with understanding facial queues but I didn't know this was the reason! As someone who has PTSD & Anxiety I feel that, I can't stand eye contact but so many people expect it and will even get upset about me avoiding it. On the other hand, I also struggle with recognizing faces! Thanks for sharing, I learned something new today.
The specialist that diagnosed my autism described me as having ‘aggressive eye contact’ (I overcorrect), but I still am terrible with faces, so i’m not sure what my excuse is 😂
Faces are such a struggle for me too. I never really thought about it in depth before even though I always realised I struggle to recognize people especially when they change their look. Most of the times I tend to identify people by their manneurism, their voice, their look and their character. When I try to remember a person, even someone as close as my mum, I can't see their faces in my head. It's mostly a blur. I can recognise people when I see a photo unless it's too far apart in age/looks (can't recognize myself in a lot of old photos but that might also come from my heavy dissociation in the past). I am still on the waiting list for an official autism diagnosis but I am more than halfway through the waiting time! 🎉 And just by realising and catering to myself (I am officially diagnosed with ADHD, was also because I went and asked for a diagnosis) I was able to improve my quality of life so much! Well okay the ADHD meds also help 😂. I do see the autistic traits more though since I take my meds and try to unmask as much as possible.
@AB-ft7ng I don't think so. Like I guess more people struggle than it seems like because some things are just not talked about a lot but people recognize me all the time and I have no idea who they are. Or people say "Look it's XYZ person" and I can't see them at all. I can spot animals and small things pretty fast and people always ask me how I do that. So there is a difference in skills. I personally don't see it as bad but some people get really pissed if you don't recognize them. Had that a few times in customer service. My coworkers had no problems recognizing people and I even sometimes got confused when a customer came back and it was just a few minutes later and everyone except me knew by looking at them but I needed the order they made to have something to recognize.
For anyone wondering Rose red is on Hulu (at least in the US). I may be watching it later, kinda sounds like it might feel similar to the game mysterium.
Rose red may not be the best or scariest movie but it does hold a special place in my heart. Also that statue scene gets me to this day. Just something about the tension built up in that scene.
SECONDS into the video and Gab is already making me laugh. "Damn. I think the door's locked. Not sure, but..." is going to live rent-free in my head for a while. 😂 I'm just so charmed that Gab keeps playing all these anomaly-finder games, people really are taking this simple base concept in the craziest directions! My fave so far is still The Cabin Factory, but putting the camera on rails might be a close second. 📷🛤 Zoom zoom, motherhuggers! Bonus points for being able to see the player character/observation booth. 😱That's extra creepy. (Also idk why but that camera noises give me the ASMR tingle. 🐱Nice.) [In case anyone else was also wondering; I'm pretty sure the title is derived from the word "paragnosis". According to Wiktionary: paragnosis - (countable and uncountable, plural paragnoses) - Knowledge which can only be gained through extraordinary or supernatural means. 🤓]
When the toilet ghost moved, I jumped and spilled scalding hot tea all over myself. Now I have an ice pack on my stomach cuz I think it burned my skin…10/10 game!
That story that you tell at ~1:36:00, I absolutely get that. It’s the HAIR! If a bunch of ppl have the same hair I have such a hard time telling a difference- though if someone I know WELL changes their hair anything less than drastically, I see no difference. If someone I don’t know changes their hair, I’ll likely have a hard time picking them out (watching early X Files was really weird, because Scully changed into a completely different person like every other scene-)
This would be a terrible apartment to live in. I mean aside from the ghosts, those holes in the walls would make it a pain to heat up or cool down the place and theres no way to stop bugs from coming in from outside!
True, but it does stop the ghosts from eating your face, so it's not all bad. Maybe move to the countryside for summers so you don't have to live in a mosquito hotelli or something.
Oohh not only do I really like the setup this game has with anomaly searching, I'm super into the mechanic of some runs not having an anomaly at all. Keeps you kinda paranoid!
Watching this whilst I am recovering from a broken wrist hopefully when I go back on Thursday I won’t need surgery to fix it love your videos so much Gab

Movie itself is wild lol but it’s like good cheesy and the fact that gab mentions it makes me love her more😂 Btw the second scary movie movie is based on rose red largely
This one is SUPER cool, I love their background music, and I wish there was an anomaly that was like, when you go outside, there’s like a huge eye in the sky that you TOTALLY miss if you don’t turn around-
Names are extremely hard to remember, faces I remember, but I won't remember your name even if you tell me it multiple times. I'd say it takes about 6 months to memorize someone's name

Your house is haunted, and you find someone in the internet who claims to be a modern exorcist with 100% success rate, but he asks to make holes in every single room in your house and install a rail system through them, and to have an empty room for his equipment. Would you hire them? It would also probably be very expensive. PS: 50/50 girl. I'm like that too, every time I'm faced with a 50/50 choice, I get the wrong one. Also you would probably never register my face them, since I apparently look like everyone.

1 hr 34 mins in, when you mentioned your upcoming autism test about faces - made me interested in sharing my experiences if it could help you or another commenter. I shared, during my assessment and to friends, how the main way I recognise faces (just struggle matching names to faces) is taking note of the bridge of a persons nose, the part between their eyes. Before my assessment, I didn't understand why it was difficult looking people in the eye. Since assessment, I learnt it doesn't literally mean looking into someone's eyes, but I realised young how the bridge of someone's nose doesn't change over the years. Worked most times until it doesn't, generally when the bridge of someone nose is a shared genetic trait with other family members of theirs. I wish you all the best with finding answers, and I'm sure you have a grate support network including your partner especially as he recently experienced it. Take care!
I really like this one! Particularly when the camera rolls outside to look through the windows and down at the street, it gives me those cozy vibes. Comforting! Thank you!
The pictures that pop up when you exercise something remind me of the illustrations in the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark books. Some of them more than others but they definitely give me that vibe.
HI gabs! You probably won't see this, but I just wanted to say that you and your channel have gotten me through a lot. I unfortunately had to give up my kitty today, and it was the worst feeling in the world. I am going to miss her so much, but she's in a good home now. thank you for being you and inspiring me It means a lot
1:33:00 I've certainly noticed that myself. Ever since I was diagnosed more than a decade ago I always said it's kind of like light prosopagnosia? Prosopagnosia is about 'face blindness' and not being able to recognize faces from each other. Can you tell a monkey from another monkey? They look the same, right? Wrong, monkeys can tell each other apart just from their faces! Humans simply aren't wired to be able to tell those differences and we can experience that towards other humans as well. Even other races! "All Asians look the same", heard that before? You just don't have the genetic/brain wiring that lets you see those differences easily. It doesn't help that I have an aversion to eye contact, which means I tend not to look at people's faces in the first place so 'learning' the faces of people I encounter in real life is... difficult. I really notice it in movies, though. I'll think "Hey that actor kinda looks familiar but I have no idea who that is." It has to be someone REALLY famous or has a really easy to distinguish feature for me to be able to name them. I've always been baffled that people can not only immediately name an actor in it but also immediately what else they were in. Unless they're the main actor (because they're named on the titles and such) I would be hard pressed to even GUESS who was in a movie, let alone immediately being able to say who they are. I'm more likely if I recognize someone to flick through what other movies they were in rather than go by name.
i love rose red and yeah we can still watch it here usually around fall or winter is when it on. there's another oldy but goodie called sleepwalkers also by Stephen king about cat people kinda its a bit harder to find \.
It's kind of frustrating when everyone accuses something they don't completely agree with or something that doesn't have very nice design as AI. People can make garbage. People have been doing so for thousands of years.
I worked in a library that had similar rails were we send books to the groundfloor that got checked out, and got books back from there to sort back lol
If I ever have a place of my own and can have a library, I'm gonna shelve my books backwards, and then one-by-one, pick random ones to read. Once it's read, it goes back on the shelf properly, in alphabetical order by author's last name.
17:38 My ass left my body... :C It's not even all that frightening now I'm looking back at it, but I was in the middle of eating and I have to admit, that one got me! xD
One of the drip sounds in the bathroom sounded like what my cat does when he's about to throw up, and a few times, I had to whip my head around to check on him 😂
Not 100% sure but I think the reason you started to get repeats in some rooms 1:10:00 is because the new anomaly pool for said room either reached 0 or was only at 1-3. So it started pulling repeats to fill in the need for anomalies in said room.
when she got that box towards the end of the video i was shookith, cause i realized i saw it towards the beginning of the video and thought it was weird, but didn't know if it was normal, then forgot till now
I've never played any of these observation games, because I don't think I would be very good at them. But it is nice and chill to watch Gab play them 😌That demon popping up out of nowhere was very not chill however lolz, had my cat worried cause I was jumping all over the place XD
that's actually really interesting about autism and face blindness bc i'm autistic and have the exact opposite thing 😅 as soon as i've seen someone's face a few times, it's permanently locked into my brain, and i can remember weirdly specific features and easily (usually) tell the difference between similar faces. ask me to remember any single other thing about them though, and i'm completely blank; name, birthday, etc., it's all in one ear, out the other 😂
I have add and maybe autism, I was having appointments at a dental school. I looked at the students hair and earrings to make sure it was the right person every time
being autistic in either the UK or Ireland is definitely difficult because every single man has the same haircut. they don't all want to have the same haircut but they go into the barbers and are given The Man Haircut whether they like it or not. so we can never tell any of them apart. (doesn't help i also went to all girls schools growing up so didn't get used to seeing guys faces as a child)
Having trouble with faces? Is it around everyone or just with people you don't really know? There are some disabilities that affect the brain's ability to discern faces... .But in all likelihood it's just an awkward clumsy moment. Thanks for the upload, Gab! Made for good background on my side monitor while I worked on things!
Another Rose Red fan, we have a physical copy that I used to listen to in the background while I'd draw, we still have it btw and now I feel like watching it again. 🥰
If the ghosts cooked us a lasagna like that, maybe they ain't so bad.

1:07:34 when the toilet paper is sideways I was screaming at the phone 😂😂🥲
WOW, This is a very unique twist (the rails) to the whole Anomaly type game..
I love the idea ❤ very fun!
I can't wth her making everything seem cute. Like saying "an eyeball!" in cheerful uwu voice. this is a true superpower lol
Every time I saw the teddy bear, I thought the white nose was a creepy smile
watching gab and jack back to back and realising how they’re starting to act so similar
awesome! It's like Fatal Frame 2 and Observation Duty got a videogame child. I Love It ❤😂😂😂
58:34 That painting isn't AI, it's actually a screenshot from the game Zadette!
It's kind of frustrating when everyone accuses something they don't completely agree with or something that doesn't have very nice design as AI. People can make garbage. People have been doing so for thousands of years.
the 100% thing is seemingly the time progress, rounded down (so if its 1am, that is 1 out of 8 progress, which equates to 12%)
These types of games are an odd contradiction. They are always interesting, but they somehow manage to be both creepy and cozy at the same time.
5:13 Go! My favourite sports fridge 😂
I put my books backwards when they have beautiful sprayed edges 😂
my mum loves Rose red, i remember watching it with her having no idea what was happening sometimes haha. think she still has it on dvd somewhere.
This was awesome, also give me vibes of Portal 2 when Wheatley was on his management rail in the relaxation chambers
GAB- Oh my poor little heart. Rose Red?! Not that good?!! Oh the betrayal!
I worked in a library that had similar rails were we send books to the groundfloor that got checked out, and got books back from there to sort back lol
omg i love Rose Red too!! Such a classic. Cheesy but fantastic. They need to add that on streaming sites yes!!
17:33 good timing, that one was creepy enough (・o・;)
1:04:45 I guess you could say that ghost really got bluewalled huh 😏
This is one of the cleanest, most interesting takes on observation duty like games I've seen yet!
The question isn’t why I’m watching this at 4am, but rather what will I be eating whilst I enjoy this lol
If I ever have a place of my own and can have a library, I'm gonna shelve my books backwards, and then one-by-one, pick random ones to read. Once it's read, it goes back on the shelf properly, in alphabetical order by author's last name.
1:37:29 Margot Robbie and Jaime Pressly. Even without being on the spectrum they are hard to tell apart.
17:38 My ass left my body... :C
It's not even all that frightening now I'm looking back at it, but I was in the middle of eating and I have to admit, that one got me! xD
New horror game on steam you may like. Really good short game. "AMENTI". This might be the scariest game you ever played.
One of the drip sounds in the bathroom sounded like what my cat does when he's about to throw up, and a few times, I had to whip my head around to check on him 😂
"Are there books in the fireplace?" I think Fahrenheit 451. If only Silent Hill 4 would have been like this game.
Not 100% sure but I think the reason you started to get repeats in some rooms 1:10:00 is because the new anomaly pool for said room either reached 0 or was only at 1-3. So it started pulling repeats to fill in the need for anomalies in said room.
To be fair I would be really freaked out if I came home and some of my furniture was upside down
when she got that box towards the end of the video i was shookith, cause i realized i saw it towards the beginning of the video and thought it was weird, but didn't know if it was normal, then forgot till now
Best way to pass time while unpacking into my dorm💕💕
I've never played any of these observation games, because I don't think I would be very good at them. But it is nice and chill to watch Gab play them 😌That demon popping up out of nowhere was very not chill however lolz, had my cat worried cause I was jumping all over the place XD
"You makin brownies?"
WELL NOW I'M GONNA HAVE TO
that's actually really interesting about autism and face blindness bc i'm autistic and have the exact opposite thing 😅 as soon as i've seen someone's face a few times, it's permanently locked into my brain, and i can remember weirdly specific features and easily (usually) tell the difference between similar faces. ask me to remember any single other thing about them though, and i'm completely blank; name, birthday, etc., it's all in one ear, out the other 😂
Everytime Gab has to go back to a room the way the cam moves on the rails makes me imagine her walking as if her shoelaces were tied together 😂
1:00:00 I thought that cut was the anomaly
I have add and maybe autism, I was having appointments at a dental school. I looked at the students hair and earrings to make sure it was the right person every time
17:29 ask and you shall receive 😂😂
Watching this made me hope Gab's Observation Duty will be back soon 😂
1:36:42 Ugh It happens to me often; I greeted people I don't know and ignored people I know
How dare TH-cam hide this from me for 15 minutes! I need gab, coffee, and a snow day.
Agh I miss snow days!
I have Gab, a snow day, and am currently making coffee
There is a game i found called Inn Sainty it's a hotel horror game that might be worth playing for anyone interested spooky horror like this game.
being autistic in either the UK or Ireland is definitely difficult because every single man has the same haircut. they don't all want to have the same haircut but they go into the barbers and are given The Man Haircut whether they like it or not. so we can never tell any of them apart.
