45 year old man who cries once every ten years. This song does it to me. Dad died, mom got old and mean, and now my four brothers and sisters have all moved away, but I'll never forget about the beauty and deepness of living on that farm, growing up on the dirt.
Hey man, I'm sure you've got a lot of other people that love you. Sometimes you have to make your own family. I know because I was once in the same spot. Love life, praise God, have a beer and enjoy the ones you have.
Clay Smith Sorry sweetheart. Just keep trying to smile and hope for the best darling. You and your family are in my prayers. Sending unicorn vibes your way😉
To my dad you were a damn good farmer Born 86 years ago and we lost you 2 weeks ago You were born on the farm and we were with you when you passed on the farm. I miss you and love you dad. We will see you again. Tell grandpa hi who started the farm.
i think of the best times in my life, baseball games ,brothers slamming me into the ground, and just playing in the mud , this song means so much to me , i hope my kids will grow up in dirt and not social media .
I grew up in the city bc my dad was Air Force. But I love both city and country. Both have a beautiful yet different view on the world. Most people don’t understand but I’m glad I got to see both sides
Always makes me think of my mom. She grew up in the country on a farm and moved to the city when she married my dad. She misses the country, but I think she and my dad'll return to it one day
This was my brother-in-laws favorite country song for a while, we'd listen to it every time we were going somewhere in his truck. He killed himself almost 6 months ago and this song makes me cry now, I miss him so badly.
To me, this is FGL's most meaningful song by far. I think about my wife when I hear this. I'm 26, been married for only 7 months, and I'm already getting gray hairs by stressing about how I'm going to make a good life for her and a family. I cannot imagine life without her in it. Cherish those around you, folks.
My grandfather(RIP) moved to Southern Maryland and worked in a mill for 40+ years until it closed. My mom and grandmother(God rest her soul) had to survive on whatever food they could, hunting and farming to have something to eat after gramps and nanny split. My dad grew up on a tobacco farm. When my mom and dad met, dad had a house built on a plot of land given to him by his parents, RIP Granny and Grandpa. While my parents made sure me and my brother didn’t grow up as hard as they did, they made us grateful. We still had to work, we learned about cars, guns, and girls. Our roots are in this dirt. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
This song just makes me miss home. Left the south when I was 19 when Iowa called and I came to a small city, but just reminds me how much I need a trip home to see my Dad and Ma. Shoot I'm 23 going on 24 and cry over this song. Always makes it better when homesick though
And someday you’ll return to this, wow what a powerful lyric, makes me appreciate what I have every time I listen to this song. Say what you will about this band, lord knows I have, but this song is deep.
i see the countryside disapearing and making way for more houses and stores and factories and when i hear this i can only hope that someday ill return to the beautiful fields surrounded by woods that i grew up playing on but right now i am busy moving americas goods in my big truck, maybe ill have a nice country retirement lol
Definitely a country song that can bring a grown man to tears. Grew up in the country and work (Oilfields) brought me near the city for the last few years. Really makes me miss the good ole days. Someday I'll have enough money to move back to my roots.
I love how different this song. Its a great love song, I see it as saying "this girl makes me want to settle down, build a house and have a family" cant wait to have our first dance to this song at my wedding :)
i had a death In the family not to long ago and I rember leaveing the funeral and just wanting to die and as I got in my car this song started playing and for some reason I started to laugh and cry at the same time and I was at peace then I remembered this was her favorite song and i could hear her singing it to me laughing miss you babe
I have just this song on a single CD. It was one of the very first songs I taught my daughter when she was five years old. Get the soulful feels with every single word.
Reminds me of where my roots are.. visions of my Father working the land. And picking and shelling butterbeans for days. I wish I could live there again. I miss my family. Thank you for this song. All your songs...😎✌⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🙏💗
God bless the old man Herbie for teaching this Japan raised slick the way out back in East Texas. Im back in Japan in my hometown now but Ill never shake off the Texas red dirt on my boots.
I love this song because it reminds me on my Grandpa. ❤ he's my rock and will always be my #1. He taught me not to be afriad of dirt and to appreciate the land because one day we will return to it.
I listen to country for my grandpa. I miss him, and he taught my dad country. And my dad taught me. My family has the greatest dirt I could ask for, plus I always wear a beanie my grandma got me. I miss them, so I do things in there honor.
This is the best FGL song!! My son and I loved this song (still do) and would always sing it together in the car and he was a teenager then 🤣, . Everytime I hear it, I always think of him and our days in the car singing together. ❤
I always love it when people say, "No copyright infringement is intended" on these videos. It's like saying, "No theft was intended" after stealing a soda. Thanks for the laugh.
Thank you for posting this lyric video. I just got the CD today and I can barely make out the lyrics from the background it was put on. I love this song. Thanks again! :)
i love how they made a point to the song!! we all were made by dirt and someday we will all go back to it!! that is an amazing song!! true thoughts and hard core amazement!!
This reminds me of the summer camp I attended. My first day at camp, I fell in love with this one girl who from a different part of my state, we both live in Tennessee. She was the prettiest girl I ever saw and I couldn't stop thinking about her. To this day, I completely regret not talking to that girl. I miss her so much.
