One thing I noticed that would help you a lot with the positioning problem you mentioned, is that you full sail almost in every scenario. Raise em up and/or get your ship turning, so it will not be far away every time you board.
Shouldn’t chicken or snake meat be the right answer for the first question? As kraken gives you buffs (50% hp regen if at 100%), followed by chicken or meat (25%)? Extra buffs (therefore better than pineapple and mango) makes them better, I’m I right?

News flash, chest of fortunes only spawn on the burning blade now days, and either someone claims it and sells it immediately or someone just boards and takes it off the burning blade from a AI crew, but on the other hand, athenas are everywhere and brings good content, so no chest of fortunes isn't where it's at 😅
