Man. They really don't make synth music like this anymore. Warm and rich and fuzzy, reminiscent of the satisfied exhaustion at the end of a grueling task of a thorough day of play.
This song thought me how to crash my NASCAR, making way for a victory for the announcer's son, but by doing so, completely stealing the show in the last NASCAR speed crash death.
This song taught me how to do the bedroom floor to kitchen skip and... Well, essentially shave 7.46 seconds off my American Dad intro speedrun. Not far from world record... There's still hope
ah i miss those days of nascar (no, not the day Dale died, i wish that day never happened). racing was so much better, there was more speed, more carnage, more bumping. nascar nowadays doesnt feel like nascar. even how the cars look dont feel like actual nascar cars. those cars from the late 90's and early 2000's really felt like actual nascar cars.
Nope it's a na*I Verner Von bron but you can go back even further to the first man made objects in spaces a shell from the pairs gun or even further back you could look at space observation like 1800's telescopes or 800's mayn (misspelled that) calenders
“In order to understand the appeal of NASCAR, we have to talk about soldiers, astronauts, and prestige. Being a soldier comes with a certain amount of prestige. Most people find their sacrifice admirable but you dont have to search far to find people who disagree. You’d be hard-pressed, however to find anyone who doubts the prestige of an astronaut. You can talk about intelligence and science degrees and technical skills all you want but the fact of the matter is that soldiers fight against other soldiers in man made wars while astronauts fight against the surly bonds of nature itself. It takes bravery to volunteer yourself to go fight in some foreign far-off land, but it takes a whole another level of bravery to strap yourself into a pressurized metal canister and fly out of the top of the sky. Astronauts have so much prestige because they come the closest to kissing the snarling jaws of certain death. Theres no denying that war is also deadly, but humans have been fighting and killing each other since the dawn of man. Its easy to understand the nature of warfare. Its difficult to understand the limits of nature itself and nothing is more terrifying then what we dont understand...Ah who am I kidding, this is a dumb analogy...NASCAR Drivers are nothing like astronauts. I mean come on... *Have you ever seen a NASCAR fly?* “
That part of the video and afterwards explaining the crash completely shows why emplemon is my favourite youtuber, he has the skill to change our minds in a spetacular way, to write sometimes mindblowing lines like "Have you ever seen a nascar fly?" I think amid all of his content, his "Never ever" series are my favourite.
There seems to be this inner circle of god tier narrative documentary youtubers. For those who don't know, this was popularized by Summoning Salt, who makes videos on the history of various speedrunning games, and EmpLemon used the track as a reference/inspiration. If you like either of those two, I'd like to give a shoutout to Jon Bois (my personal favorite), Lemmino, and The Internet Historian.
I'm an existentialist, and if I had one music to describe the theory of existentialism, this would be it. It's mesmerizing, but also leaves you a feeling that your left out, you didn't open the door to something that you dearly wanted so long to see, but at the same time, you feel glad that you didn't. Kind of like a dream, its better if it stays that way.
That’s super interesting! To me, it feels like finally reaching your goal and these are the rising, echoing thoughts as your journey comes rushing back to you… then when the bass kicks in, that’s when you know this isn’t a dream, this is real life. You did it. ❤
@LunringNouela: I didn't really think of this until you mentioned something similar, but in addition to the obvious feeling of accomplishment, there is also the added sense that you went against the norm somehow, or did something no one thought you could do or in a way that people told you was impossible, something like that, and you had to believe in your own abilities despite the gaslighting, and you really showed them and proved it to them and yourself. You redefined what was possible and it's both happy and surreal at the same time. You persevered and trusted in yourself, and you proved every doubter wrong. There is an especially personal feel to it, like it's speaking directly to the achiever. When it comes to speedrunning, it can reflect that even if not many people know or understand what you achieved, you do, and the internal motivation and gratification is probably especially strong for people who compete in such a niche, overlooked endeavor. Unlike celebrities, they still can't go outside and constantly be applauded, but they don't need applause, because they keenly understand the amazing thing they achieved. The second part of the track is usually left out by Summoning Salt, and the first time I heard it I was surprised that he leaves it out because it's quite a bit more beautiful than the first part, which is saying a lot. It augments the message of the first part many times over and connects you to it on another level.
Used to see this red door all the time in my dreams when I was a kid would always be hidden somewhere in my dream no matter where I was, in the apocalypse, at the bottom of the ocean, another planet, a mansion filled with horrible monsters. Sometimes it was hard to spot sometimes when I seen it my dream did a kind of pan in on it, but even in the few instances where I had control over myself in my dreams which is rare, I still didn’t open it I knew no matter what I’d regret it. Weather it was terrifying or just nothing at all I figured it was better not too. I haven’t seen it in any dreams since I was maybe like 10 or 12 but I can remember them all like it was yesterday.
This song has such a sense of genuineness and irony attached at once to it I was emotional for EmpLemon's masterpiece of a Nascar video (R.I.P. Dale Earnhardt) I was thrilled to find the peaks of Mario Kart 64's speed running community and I've laughed at many, many satirical speed running breakdowns also HOME is just a fantastic music artist in general The internet's pretty cool.

"NASCAR drivers are nothing like astronauts. I mean come on...have you ever seen a NASCAR fly? 1987 Winston 500. May 3rd, 1987. In the race immediately corresponding with Bill Elliot's record breaking qualifying lap, Bobby Allison would blow a tire in the tri-oval. The back of his car would lift up off the ground and sail into the catch fence at nearly 200 miles per hour..." - EmpLemon 2019

I've think I've cracked it. Theres a reason why Summoning Salt plays this song and THIS song in particular in every speedrun video. Its because of the once quiet beginnings all adventures start off with and with the rise of popularity and determination, it become an life. That's what speedruning is to him and many others, a life and adventure we all take to push our limits. The video of the moon landing just goes so well with this idea. I know it may just because he likes it and I don't blame him for that's, but it's just a small theory I have. It's a song that feels welcoming when ever one accomplished something of a great milestone. I'd to thank Summoning Salt for bringing me here. If I ever get to meet him one day...I would shake his hand. Thanks man and thank you Home for making this song. This is Houston, signing off.
That almost made me cry. I really didn't have much of an idea that he died at the Daytona 500 going into the video (I really only knew that the name of Dale Earnhardt was legendary in NASCAR, that was my basic understanding of the sport, also names of PETTY and WALTRIP I had heard before). When the February 18, 2001 segment came up and this played, that basically told me someone wasn't leaving the track alive. I really started to tear up, very great video that gets you emotional, very surreal. Probably the greatest video I've seen thus far this year.
StormCloudTheory Same. Didn’t think NASCAR would interest me, but after this emotional video I understood, that NASCAR is much more than just driving in ovals. I heard the name Dale Earnhardt for the first time in this video, and at the end I had tears in my eyes.

This is what I absolutely love about the internet. How it is able to incorporate so many different artistic styles together. In this day alone, I've learned about the speedrunning community, a great channel that provides insight into it (SummoningSalt) and some incredible music and music video that has inspired me to write all this (HOME). Where will my journey finish? Hopefully, to the stars. :D
some may say that being on the internet all day is a bad thing, but learning about communities and cultures and music and putting detication into things and the feeling of satisfaction when you get the answers you were looking for all day is great and school and life outside of the internet should be more like that
I had to input my thoughts on this. Someone said that people say being online too much is bad, and while there are certainly terrible things on here, it's a great thing as well. Great for learning about new things, new cultures, new traditions. We live in the most diverse and knowledgeable era of life, and it's the best time to be alive, one reason being the internet and all its truly capable of.

my friend felt very sad listening to this song, but I thought its very warm and beautiful. Interesting how we both have so different opinions on this track.
This is Choco Mountain. It's the third course in the Flower Cup in Nintendo's Mario Kart 64, and honestly, it doesn't look too crazy at first glance. It's just a brown course with a white sky, no crazy upside-down or underwater driving like in the newer games. The walls are practically right on top of you, so you don't really have much room to navigate around the track. But you see, this course has a bit of a reputation. There's a group of people who've been battling each other for the past couple of decades to finish the course in world record time. What attracts these gamers to Choco Mountain in particular? Well, probably the fact that this course can be absolutely and completely broken. 0:27
I hear this song in Summoning Salt for like the third time. I pause the video. I find this song. I listen to the whole song, then remember I'm watching summoning salt.
CT-1799 yeah, it is pretty nice to see it that way, the last thing he ever saw was his son and the other racer on his team speeding towards an empty finish line while he held the crowd back

ah i miss those days of nascar (no, not the day Dale died, i wish that day never happened). racing was so much better, there was more speed, more carnage, more bumping. nascar nowadays doesnt feel like nascar. even how the cars look dont feel like actual nascar cars. those cars from the late 90's and early 2000's really felt like actual nascar cars.
