We have played the first scenario twice, once at two player and one at three and we really enjoyed it. It took 5 hours but it was tense, interactive and just fun with a real sense of development.
You should get Trade (and chuck Intrigue). It’s fantastic! New events add variety. The beneficial deeds board is much more interesting. The contracts make the map more interesting and give you more to compete over in 2p games. If you play Orleans with any regularity, it is worth getting Trade, IMNSHO.
Thank you for your frankness and honesty with this game. I also love Orléans, so I bought this at Essen without any other research. I was quite disappointed after reading the rules to see how “interactive” this game is. Orléans is a very nice Euro game, but Stories is so “interactive” that I don’t think it qualifies as a Euro. Anyhow, thanks for the play through and comments.
This is the one game from Essen I still have in shrink. I think it might end up staying that way until I can get it to a bring and buy! What a disappointment. Like you Tom, I am a huge fan of the original and it’s big brother Altiplano.
I'd say so, it wasn't our only problem with the game but it certainly wants you to get in each other's faces, even in the less "interactive" scenario we played

I'm glad! That's how I wanted to feel (minus the interaction), but it didn't work out for us this time

Thanks for this run-through and impressions Slickerdrips! This was one game I was not sure about and hadn't heard many opinions of.
Huge box. Expensive. Wish I watched this before buying. 😞

You never know, you might end up enjoying it like Mark! It'd depend on how you would enjoy the added interaction and length though
I had heard that this game could be mean (interactive) and once I found that out, I gave this a hard pass. Sounds like I made the right decision.

Shame - we loved this game - and I think it’s deffo horses for courses ...
