한국인에게 해와 호랑이 특별합니다. 특히 오래된 고전이나 민요에 많이 등장하죠. ’해야‘는 hey sun의 의미로 , 무엇인가 간절히 원할때 태양을 친근하게 부르는 느낌입니다. ’해야‘ 단어 자체가 한국인에게는 매우 감성적인 느낌을 들게하는 단어입니다.
첫장면에 호랑이가 담배를 피는 장면도 한국인에게는 익숙한 장면입니다.중간에 구미호라는 여우와 구슬도 한국 고전에 많이 나오는 장면입니다.

The elements shown in the MV are elements that are found in Korean traditional culture, except the fan, so I'm curious if there's a source that refers to the fan. Thanks!

I've heard the this song is based on a mix of Korean culture and a tale created by IVE members where a tiger loves the sun and end it up swallowing it, that's why Leeseo's mouth is shining in the end, because she just swallow the sun.
My wife and I saw them in Ft Worth, TX in March. Now I'm already waiting for a new tour, lol.

이번곡은 한국의 모습입니다. 처음 담배피는 장면은 5000년 아주오래된 이야기입니다. '호랑이가 담배피우던 시절'.의 뜻으로 오래전이라는 똣입니다. 부채는 하늘에 사는 사람들이라는 뜻으로 구름이 나오고 깊은 산속이 나옵니다. 그래서 한복을 모티브로 한 의상이 나옵니다. 한국은 100년전에는 호랑이가 많았습니다. 그러나 지금은 호랑이가 없습니다. 이유는 일본인들이 침략해왔고 모든 호랑이를 죽였습니다. 빠르게 소개해주셔서 감사합니다.❤
정확히는 한국내 호랑이, 다행히 러시아의 아무르 (한국) 호랑이는 계속 살아 있네요. 또한 전래동화에 호랑이가 남매를 쫓아가서 잡아먹으려 했을 때 하늘에서 동아줄이 내려와 남자는 하늘에 올라가서 해가 되고 여자는 올라가서 달이 되었다는 이야기가 있고 이것은 또 일본에도 내려오고 있다고 합니다.

It is a Gombangdae which is some kind of device useed to smoke hundred years ago. FYI, In korea, when we start tell a fairy tale we use the paragraph "Long long time ago, when a tiger smoked".

Heya is heavily influenced by Korean culture. (Tigers are Korea’s national animal.) the music video is supposed to show a fairytale about a tiger who is obsessed with the sun. Ive are the tigers and the light at the top of the music box represents the sun. That’s why leeseo had a light inside of her mouth, because she’s eating the sun. The lyrics tell this story as well.

I am Korean and in this mv, they made like Korean tradition like the most of the lyrics is Korean, the dresses are Korean traditional dresses and the fan, hair, the tigers, and the backgrounds are all Korean tradional things!
The main concept is from Korean traditional fairytale, . It's a story about children who go up to the sky to escape a tiger and becomes the sun and the moon.
story: A poor brother and sister are waiting for their single mother, who is a rice cake vendor. But a hungry tiger comes after the mother, saying, "If you give me one rice cake, I won't eat you," and eats all the rice cakes, and after that, eats the mother. Still unsatified, the tiger approaches the brother and sister by pretending to be their mother. The brother and sister use their wit to check the tiger's hand through the door (the window of an old Korean house is made of paper) and run away secretly, but they are soon caught and tracked down by the tiger. Caught on the roof, the two children pray eagerly, and the God gives the children a new wire to make them the sun and the moon, and gives the tiger a rotten wire to make it fall and die.
So that's the "happy ending" in this fairytale.
But in the MV, ive members ARE the tigers who loved the sun(maybe.. us?). They are constantly described as tigers, and thet don't want happy ending of this fairytale. They want to swallow the sun(us...) and be with us through the eternity...🥰

When I first watched the mv I couldn’t process what was going on that’s how I knew the song was good💀💀💀
Liz and Leeseo blew me away. Especially Liz… she’s the only idol that manages to send goosebumps through my whole body every time I hear her voice. It’s so beautifully haunting I can’t explain it.
On top of these two, they all absolutely killed this! Yujin is the camera’s (and stage’s) best friend I swear. Wonyoung’s voice has improved so much, I confused hers with Liz’s for a second. And Gaeul and Rei with the attitude. They always bring such a cool vibe to their MVs.
They all look stunning. And my God this song is an absolute BOP. The MV is up there with my favorites next to XG’s Puppet Show and Grl Gvng MV.
Just phenomenal 😭 I love IVE. They have been working so damn hard and it really shows.
When it comes to Korean traditional items and Hanbok. I get emotional ! I am not even sure why. Also, Tiger is the animal that is representing Korea and I love the concept.

"Heya" means "Sun".
The song takes its motif from a Korean legend. A Korean old legend says that In daylight, a Big Tiger tried to swallow the Sun but was too hot and couldn't swallow it, and then at night, it tried to swallow the Moon but was too cold and could not bite it.
"What was that?" A BANGER of course! But that's just IVE for you 😌 The composition of this song is so cool. It feels so kpop and yet so fresh? I LOVE the climax of the last chorus. And I think the aesthetic of the mv really adds to it too. The colours, the transitions, the animations, the members! GIRL

I am not sure but someone who's interested in the mood of this mv can search Korean 'Minhwa' (민화). Then you can see why the illusteaion in the mv was drwan in a such mood.
