What is often forgotten with Peter Schmeichel is that he could throw the ball to just outside the opposite penalty field with great accuracy and throw attackers free.
As a Dane I am SO grateful that we have had, and still have when it comes to Kasper, such absolutely top top world class goalkeepers. They both have been key in the ranking our National team have. Having followed both throughout their careers it seem clear that both of them are their own harshest critiques and they both strives to become better and never stop working on that. What really makes both of them stand out, besides their high level are the consistency of their level. Both of them have been absolutely instrumental in their teams successes for over a decade categorised by extremely few "off" days. So thank you Peter and thank you Kasper! You BOTH, in your own generation/time, have been the worlds best goalkeeper in my opinion. I hope that there one day, in front of the Danish national stadium, will be a statue of you both.
Kasper Schmeichel is a good goalkeeper and has had a good career. But Peter Schmeichel was the best keeper in the world at his peak. He was the one who made sure Denmark won the Euro in 1992 by pulling off miracle save after miracle save.

Peter is obviously the best but let’s be honest here; nobody ever expected Kasper to get anywhere near the level he got to, a truly great goalkeeper & so happy he won the league. Peter was genuinely one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time, and by all time we’re talking Lev Yashin, Gordon Banks, Oliver Kahn, Gianluigi Buffon, Sepp Maier, etc. We’re not talking about fucking Petr Cech & some fella called Alisson who had a few good seasons playing in great teams. The goalkeepers listed above were great in EVERY team they played in. Cech did virtually nothing with the Czech national team & did very little else in his career away from that great Chelsea team. Alisson is the same, a few good seasons at Liverpool doesn’t make you the greatest ever…. Christ, he won 1 league title. Peter Schmeichel won leagues and international honours in many different countries, he won European trophies at Man Utd & Aston Villa, he won the European Championships with Denmark for Christ sake…. That’s how good he was.
Kasper Schmeichel is Great but Peter Schmeichel is so great he is the reason why Man utd won the champions league in 1999 and denmark the euro in 1992 Penalty masterclass
Peter was exeptional, he made saves that shouldn't be possible and no goalkeeper ever will be able to recrate. Kasper is a fine goalkeeper but not quite at the same level as his father.

Jasper will never be as good as his dad. he has some quick reactions but that’s all he has. his positioning is average, his handling is average and as he gets older he will lose what agility he has. anyone can save a shot in a athletic fashion
You must be too young to remember Peter in that case. His achievements alone speaks for themselves. 25 trophies won, including a Euro Cup, CL cup, UEFA Cup an 5 PL titles. He also received more than 10 goal keepers of the year awards and set record after record when playing in the PL regarding goals conceded and clean sheets. :D
